Chapter 161 Mohist inheritance
Now that we have arrived at the place where Yuan Shu is stationed, the accommodation conditions are naturally much better than camping in the wild. Not to mention Fei Qian, who is the envoy and deputy envoy, even Huang Zhong and Huang Cheng, who lead the troops, can allocate a room.
Of course, Fei Qian and Yi Ji share a room, while Huang Zhong and Huang Cheng share a room.
Huang Zhong didn't seem to be particularly concerned about this aspect. After using the late breasts, he returned to the room and touched the things hidden in his arms. His expression was still somewhat solemn, and he was obviously worried about his son's condition.
Huang Cheng pursed his lips and said nothing. Although he looked honest on the outside, he was not rough-minded. He knew that although some innocuous words of comfort were easy to say, they actually did not mean much.
He had also heard a little bit about Huang Zhong's son's illness. Huang Cheng also sympathized with Huang Zhong's experience, but that didn't mean he could just pour out these cheap words of sympathy to Huang Zhong. Sometimes, pale words may not make people happy. What comforts people, actually makes them more disgusted.
Especially someone as skilled as Huang Zhong must have his own self-esteem.
Huang Cheng felt that the only way to give Huang Zhong a quiet space was to give Huang Zhong greater comfort and support.
This time he came to accompany Fei Qian on his mission. The head of the Huang family, Huang Chengyan, had talked with Huang Cheng before setting off. Huang Cheng was also looking forward to this matter.
If Huang Chengyan, the head of the Huang family, inherited more of the skillful craftsmanship from Hu Feizi of the Mohist family, then Huang Zhong and Huang Chengcheng inherited more of the martial arts of the Mohist family.
During the Spring and Autumn Period and the Warring States Period, the Mohists were able to become a huge non-governmental organization across national borders. This was impossible without a certain amount of force. In the following years, these things that were passed down suffered heavy losses from the imperial court at that time. On the one hand, it was also suppressed by other schools of thought, so the recruitment of apprentices gradually became a family tradition and no longer taught to outsiders. The Mohist school has completely become a hidden school, bidding farewell to the once glorious stage. .
After many generations of evolution, some things were permanently lost, and other knowledge was added. As a result, although they came from the same source, the martial arts practiced by Huang Zhong and Huang Cheng were not exactly the same.
Among the hundreds of schools of thought in the pre-Qin period, the four schools of Confucianism, Mohism, Taoism, and Legalism had the greatest influence.
But in the Han Dynasty, Confucianism became powerful and outstanding, while Taoism faded away from the secular world and became a spiritual and refined school. Legalism has been in decline since the Qin Dynasty, and many Legalists put on the cloak of Confucianism...
Only the Mohist school, after a moment of glory, both as a theory and as an organization, disappeared into thin air and was lost in the long river of history.
Is the morality of the Mohist family bad?
In fact, it is not the case. When talking about Mohism in "Zhuangzi Tianxia", he said: "He is diligent in life, weak in death, and his way is great. It makes people worried and sad, and his actions are difficult. I am afraid that he cannot be a saint. The Tao, the will to rebel against the world, the world is unbearable. Although Mozi can do whatever he wants, what can he do to the world? If he is away from the world, he will be far away from the king!" At the same time, he still sighed and said: "Mozi is really the best in the world."
It’s not that Mohism is bad, it’s that Mohism’s morality is too idealistic.
There is another reason why the Mohists had to die: under the rule of a unified autocratic monarch, a secular organization with strict internal disciplines will inevitably make the court extremely wary.
Although the Mohists may only be passionate and have no political ambitions, what the autocratic monarch fears most is not greedy villains, but sage gentlemen with the ability to mobilize politically.
Therefore, after Emperor Gaozu of the Han Dynasty secured his throne, the retainers of Prime Minister Xiao He advised Xiao to "buy more fields and despise yourself by spoiling yourself", so that the emperor would feel at ease. Xiao He listened to the advice and forcefully bought the people's houses and fields at low prices. As expected, Gaozu was very happy. If Prime Minister Xiao is like Mozi and thinks of "moving the top and letting the heel go to benefit the world", maybe there will be another headless ghost in the Weiyang Palace.
When the Mohist school was at its peak, it was still the Spring and Autumn Period and the Warring States Period. At that time, a universal unity had not yet been formed. The biggest danger faced by the monarchs was the enemy countries around them, so they had to be much more relaxed about the people under their rule.
However, "the six kings are complete and the world is one", the monarch is bound to regard his subjects as enemies. Not only is it impossible for organizations like Mohism to continue to exist, but even adhering to some Mohist ideas, the rangers who are responsible for eradicating violence and bringing peace to good people have also died because of "violating prohibitions with force." Not tolerated by the imperial court.
In the early Han Dynasty, Tian Heng, the last prominent scholar of the Mohist family, rebelled against Qin at the same time as Liu and Xiang. As a result, Liu Bang proclaimed himself emperor, while Tian Heng and five hundred warriors were defeated on the island.
Emperor Gaozu of the Han Dynasty heard that Tian Heng was very popular and worried about future troubles, so he issued an edict: If Tian Heng came to surrender, he could be made king or marquis; if Tian Heng did not come, he would send troops to wipe out all the people on the island. In order to save the lives of the five hundred people on the island, Tian Heng led two of his subordinates, left the island, and headed for the capital of Emperor Gaozu of the Han Dynasty.
Walking to a place thirty miles away from Luoyang, Tian Heng said to the two retainers: "Hengshi and the King of Han both went to the south to claim solitude. Now the King of Han is the emperor, and Heng is a captive and goes to the north to do it. The shame is already great." ...And the reason why your majesty wants to see me is just to see my face. Your majesty is in Luoyang now, and he will chop off my head and gallop for thirty miles. I can't even describe it as defeat, but I can still see it." Then he killed himself and left his followers. He held his head and sang to the envoys about the great ancestor.
Liu Bang sighed greatly, so he buried Tian Heng with royal rites and worshiped his two disciples as captains. After the burial, the two disciples dug a hole beside Tian Heng's tomb and committed suicide.
Liu Bang was even more amazed and sent an envoy to the island to summon five hundred strong men to increase their use. After the five hundred warriors on the island learned the news of Tian Heng's death from the messenger, none of them responded. They took another way to answer Liu Bang and Tian Heng - they all committed suicide!
Since then, all the outstanding members of the Mohist family have died, and there are no more Mohist disciples.
However, the knowledge of Mohism has been handed down to some extent, although he no longer calls himself a member of Mohism.
Huang Cheng looked at Huang Zhong, who was silent on the side, and thought to himself, fortunately, he still has two brothers in his family. If Huang Zhong loses his children, the martial arts that belongs to Huang Zhong's family will probably be lost.
Following Fei Qian this time, Huang Chengyan has made it very clear that risks and benefits coexist, but Huang Cheng feels that it is worth taking the risk. He does not want his martial arts to be annihilated silently. He hopes to be able to rely on his own His skills create a new world.
Huang Cheng suddenly heard some noise, stood up quickly, walked quietly behind the door, carefully opened the door a little, and looked out, only to see Deputy Yi Ji sticking his head out of the room and looking around. He looked around, then picked up his robe and tiptoed outside...
