#68 - Thanks, I have a phobia of insufficient firepower

The clear and loud bugle call sounded, and the battle began.

The background music also switched accordingly. A low and secretive drumbeat began, as if an old hunter in the mountains had prepared his bow and arrows, brought his well-trained hunting dogs, and was about to set off to eliminate the wolves, creating a sense of tension, poised and ready to face the enemy.

A monster emerged from one end of the road.

After a brief drumbeat, a short horn sound similar to that of an ancient battlefield rang out. The secretive drumbeat suddenly turned into a heavy, resounding drum. Scouts had spotted the enemy's massive army and hastily reported back. The violin strings were plucked rapidly and repeatedly, perfectly highlighting the tense atmosphere of the enemy's attack.

"New enemy!"

A yellow circle popped up in the upper left corner of the interface, showing the image of this monster: dark green skin, short stature, pointed ears, and holding a short wooden stick in its hand.

Wang Zi clicked on the "New Enemy" icon, and a parchment scroll immediately unfolded on the screen.

On the left side of the parchment, a group of goblins with short legs were pasted diagonally, showing them marching on a path through the jungle.

This way of presenting information made Wang Zi feel as if he were a battle-hardened general, carefully studying the information submitted by scouts in his camp, in order to decide on a strategy to deal with the enemy.

"Goblin: A small-sized humanoid, with an evil personality, likes to plunder lone humans, and has no noteworthy skills."

Below, the enemy's characteristics were marked with asterisks: "*Low health *Average speed"

While reading the monster information, the battlefield was paused.

After reading the information, the game continued.

A few goblins took two steps and just entered the attack range of the turrets when a prompt popped up at the monster spawn point: "The next wave of monsters is coming soon! Click here to bring the next wave forward!"

Wang Zi remembered the tip he saw in the loading screen before: "Advancing the wave seems to give extra gold? I happen to need a lot of money to build a new turret, so let's advance!"

After clicking, a golden coin icon appeared, next to it was the number "+30", and new goblins followed closely behind.

The first few goblins walked into the attack range of the turrets and were immediately stopped by the rookie soldiers. The two sides began to harm each other with short swords and wooden sticks.

A little man next to the turret threw a bomb into the barrel, and another little man slapped the lever, and the shell flew out, exploding among the goblins, raising a small puff of black smoke.

Several goblins were damaged at the same time, and their health dropped by half.

Even though they were just fighting basic monsters, the battlefield seemed to become intense and exciting under the backdrop of tense and crisis-filled background music.

"Bang," the cannon sounded again, and the goblins fell to the ground, with "Gold +5" popping up next to them.

At the same time, an achievement "First Blood" was completed.

"Oh, yeah!" Wang Zi thought in surprise, "90 gold coins, I can build a new turret soon!"

Because he clicked to advance the attack, the next wave of goblins almost immediately connected with the momentum of the previous wave. The soldiers had almost no time to rest and recover before they met the new wave of enemies.

There were a full six goblins in this wave, and the soldiers in one barracks could only stop three. Wang Zi stared at the screen with some tension, fearing that he would miss any.

Fortunately, the goblins had fragile health. The soldiers, plus two attacks from the turrets, could kill the goblins. The efficiency was very high, and this wave was perfectly passed.

The violin stopped, and the drums switched back to a low, secretive beat. The enemies were like waves of a tide. Repelling one wave gave a brief chance to breathe, and this time could be used to think about how to deploy defenses.

Watching the turret kill the last goblin, Wang Zi breathed a sigh of relief, and then somewhat belatedly realized: "Now I have 120 gold coins. I could have actually opened the next wave of monsters early and used the rewarded gold coins to buy a new turret. Two turrets attacking together would be enough to easily solve the situation just now."

When the third wave of monsters began to attack, another prompt popped up: "New skill unlocked!"

"Reinforcements:

You can summon reinforcements to enter the battlefield to assist in combat.

Reinforcements is a skill that needs to be actively cast. Every ten seconds you can summon them once."

"A skill that can be actively cast?" Wang Zi's eyes lit up as he looked at the skill bar in the lower-left corner of the screen.

The original icon here was two closed wooden doors, but now one wooden door had been opened, revealing an icon of crossed swords against a blue background.

Wang Zi excitedly clicked on the "Reinforcements" skill, and then clicked again to select the release. Immediately, a farmer wearing a straw hat and holding a sickle, and a young village brave holding a hammer appeared next to the monster spawn point.

"Rua!"

They roared slogans of charge and bravely blocked the path of the goblins. However, they were too far from the turrets and had no fire support. They and the goblins, you a stick, me a knife, you a stick, me a hammer... fell into a stalemate.

Wang Zi didn't know whether to laugh or cry: "How did they end up evenly matched with the goblins!"

Before a large group of goblins reached the range of truth (turret), the support skill had already cooled down. Wang Zi now had experience: "Put the reinforcements and the soldiers in the barracks together to create an interception effect. The output still has to rely on the turrets."

This time the appearance of the reinforcements changed. It was a farmer holding a long-handled pitchfork and a simple lumberjack holding a short axe.

"You want to steal melons? My fork won't allow it!"

The soldiers and farmers rushed forward very politely, short swords, axes and forks smashed down, and cooperated with the turret to instantly beat the little goblins in the front to death.

"125 gold coins!" As soon as there were enough gold coins, Wang Zi immediately deployed a second turret.

The voice acting said in an exaggerated voice: "Thank you, I have a fear of insufficient firepower!"

Wang Zi laughed: "How come the lines are so interesting?"

With the soldiers in the barracks and the reinforcements together to stop the enemy, the two turrets fired shells alternately, easily solving this wave of a large number of goblins.

Directly open the next wave of attack, this time there are orcs with fangs and carrying blood-stained machetes appeared, and two new prompts appeared in the upper left corner of the screen.

Wang Zi muttered: "Looks a lot more powerful than goblins."

"Orc: A barbaric orc with light armor. *Light armor *Slower speed"

"Tip:

Some enemies wear different levels of armor and have resistance to physical attacks.

They take reduced damage from marksmen, soldiers, and artillery."

Sure enough, the two turrets fired a total of six shells to kill it. Not only that, but a soldier was also killed by the orc.

Wang Zi thought: "So the monsters have armor settings, does that mean there is also magic resistance? Should I build a few magic towers in the back? It feels like pure turrets are not good to fight with?"

There were very few monsters in this wave, but they were all orcs. He used the early level to reduce the cooldown time and summoned a total of three reinforcements to absorb damage, just enough to wipe them all out.

"What do you need magic towers for? There's nothing that can't be solved by two turrets." Wang Zi's confidence greatly increased, and he built another turret in the back. "If there is, then three!"
