"Whatever you dream, Loki, it can't find you here," she said softly. He looked at her cautiously, though her kindness seemed to take away a little of his fear. Pepper was still worried that he wasn't speaking. Suddenly an idea came to her, so she left Loki and walked across the room, rummaging in a large cabinet. Seconds later, she came back with a spiral notebook and a pen. "Can you write?" she asked Loki, holding the notebook and pen.

Loki's eyes narrowed, but he tentatively reached for the pen, glanced nervously at Pepper before taking it. He pushed himself up with his less injured arm, picked up the notebook provided, and looked at Pepper with a cryptic question on his deep face.

"I ask you a simple question, do you know who we are all?

Loki held the pen in his slightly trembling hand as if it were foreign, and it took at least a minute to find his answer. His writing is erratic and jagged, but Pepper ∼ can make out words.

"Loki," she asked calmly after a few minutes of silence, "do you say Asgard caused these injuries?

Loki nervously nodded, then winced, looking around the room in horror.

He said the father's name was effective immediately. Loki hurriedly got off the bed and fell hard to the floor, curled into a tight ball, sobbing and shaking his hair, clutching at his hair.

"Loki" Pepper cried, kneeling a few feet away from the startled God. "I didn't mean to scare you."

He did not admit her words. Pepper thought uncomfortably, so far, they had mentioned Thor and Qin Feng twice, causing a terrible backlash. Are Qin Feng and Thor his tormentors? Definitely, Thor can't be that cruel.

"I'm sorry," Pepper whispered. "I don't want to scare you, Loki. They don't know you're here. If you think so, we won't let them take you back."

Her words seemed to startle Loki as he looked up and looked at her tearfully. He loosened his dark hair and held out a hand as if asking for something. Pepper understood, and hurriedly got the notebook back.

Loki frowned, not entirely relieved, but not so frightened either.

The door to the infirmary opened, and when Qin Feng walked in, Loki was nervous, holding a bagel, a cup of coffee, and a bowl of dry cheerleading. Pepper lit up, and while walking over, drinking coffee gratefully, Qin Feng touched her cheek.

"How's the reindeer game?" he whispered, putting the bagels and cheerleaders on the nightstand. "Has he fallen in love with you?"

"What got him excited a few minutes ago?"

"I mentioned." Pepper lowered her voice and said into Qin Feng's ear, "His adoptive father."

"Is that what scared him?" Qin Feng said in surprise. "I thought you suggested cutting your hair.

Pepper hit him on the arm, even though she was laughing. "I suppose the cheerleaders are for him?"

Qin Feng shrugged and replied, "I don't know if the rock of age is hungry." "Have you asked him?

Pepper shook his head, then turned to Loki. "are you hungry?

Loki freezes, Roar sucks faster. He involuntarily raised the bandage over his mouth and leaned back on the bed.

"Does it want to eat? Is the little prince hungry?"

The Chitari crowded around Loki, prodding him with twisted fingers, laughing at him when he winced. He was chained to the jagged stone wall, unable to defend himself as they tortured him. He knew the worst was yet to come, and they were just testing his resilience now.

"Come on, Shorty Jordon, you must have missed the grand royal banquet!"

The others joined in brutal laughter, shouting as several hulking warriors approached, holding something Loki didn't want to see. Chituri reached out and pulled out a handful of prickly, writhing worms, screaming with delight, like a handful of creatures thrown at a bound God.

The bugs cling to his skin, crawled up his body, and tried to drill a hole under the muzzle. He screamed and thumped against the wall, stirring up new taunts from the Chitari, as he tried in vain to get rid of the bugs that had gathered around his chin.

"Loki"

Memory evaporated. Loki was embarrassed by his weakness, and Pepper and Qin Feng looked at him worriedly. Pepper sat by his bed.

"It's okay if you don't want to eat, but if you're hungry, you can. I didn't mean to scare you before.

Thankfully, Loki didn't panic this time.
