Suddenly, his reflection begins shapeshifting, its visage distorting and expanding horribly. The skin turned purple, the shirts and sweatpants hardened into jagged armor, and the hair solidified into a hideous helmet. The eyes were sharp, turning from harsh green to evil vermilion. Even in the dim light, Loki recognized the new figure, staggering away from the sink, slamming back against the wall in horror.

"Hello, little prince," the image of Thanos hissed. Loki's eyes fluttered, but he was alone - Banner was still sleeping in the next room, his snoring soft and undisturbed. Loki's hand flew to his mouth, suppressing his scream of fear, like Thanos (really he?) smiled. "You really thought you could hide."

Is it? Even a short Joton like you must know, I can't dodge so easily.

Loki's eyes filled with tears of fear, and his knees were about to give way. He stared intently at the 25 pool, reluctant to look up to see the giant talking to him. His every nerve was screaming because he desperately wanted to call Banner, Pepper, anyone, but he was too scared to make a sound.

"Little prince, you are so easily frightened. You only cringe at the image of your master - what will you do when I stand in front of you?" Evil anticipation flickered on Thanos' face light. "Do you have the courage to look me in the eyes?"

A small whimper escaped from Loki's quivering lips, and he flinched immediately, covering his head with his arms, seeing Thanos' figure screaming with rage.

"Quiet! Don't talk in front of me! Your voice is disgusting, Leighsmith!" Thanos spat, his words piercing Loki's heart. The liar fell to the ground, crying silently on his knees. Thanos' anger melted into vicious satisfaction. "Yes, dwarf. Fear that when I come to you, pain will be a sweet consolation, and death an indescribable respite. Asgardian, you will kneel before me. 99

The image of Thanos disappeared, but Loki was too frightened to lift his eyes. He clutched his knees tightly, sobbing, trying to wipe the burning memory from his mind. Long after the Titans left, Thanos' words echoed in his mind.

Dr. Banner, I believe your patients need help.

The cold voice of J.A.R.V.I.S woke Banner from his sleep, and he sat up straight, blinking in the gray morning light. "What is that?" he asked, not knowing who had just spoken to him.

Your patient has been in the bathroom since 2:37am, sir. During this time, he did little.

Banner looked anxiously at the alarm clock, which read 3:13, and then Loki's bed, which was empty. "Loki" he called, standing, looking around the room. The bathroom door was ajar. Remembering that Team Rice had mentioned a similar incident, Banner quickly opened the ys door and turned on the lights. Loki huddled on the floor opposite the sink, shivering. Banner crouched down in front of Loki, tentatively placing a hand on his shoulder. "Loki? What's wrong? Are you okay?"

Loki was taken aback by the contact, his head jerked up, looking at Banner in horror. He quickly moved his eyes to the floor, ashamed of his fear.

Banner held Loki's shoulder comfortably. "It's okay, Loki, you can tell me"

Loki pressed his lips together and shook his head as more tears gathered in his eyes.

"Was it a nightmare?" Banner grew worried, and Loki refused to answer, more tears flashing down his cheeks. "J.A.R.V.I.S, can you tell Pepper to come to Loki's room?

Right now, sir.

After only thirty seconds, Pepper hurried into the bedroom in his smocks. "Banner? Loki? Is everything okay?

"Here we are," Banner said, and Pepper immediately entered the ys. "I don't know what happened," he explained, and Pepper saw Loki, his eyes still on the floor. "J.A.R.V.I.S woke me up a few minutes ago. Apparently Loki has been here since 2:30. He didn't tell me anything.""

Pepper knelt beside Loki and brushed a few strands of jet-black hair from his face. "What's wrong, Loki?" she asked softly.

Loki closed his eyes and Roar sucked deeply. He shivered slightly, then whispered a word. "Thanos"

Pepper swallowed and glanced at Banner, who also looked anxious. "Did you see him? Did he talk to you again? 99 Loki just nodded and stroked his hair lightly, relaxing. "What did he say?"

It took Loki a few seconds to summon the courage to answer. "Same as before," he whispered. Pepper and Banner could see what he was hiding.

"It's not enough," Pepper said worriedly. "What else did he do? You can tell us, Loki, we won't let him hurt you.

Loki was shaking. "He-he told me not to talk."

Pepper looked confused, but Banner understood. "Thanos said to Loki before that no one cares what he says, no one wants to listen to him." As Banner spoke, there was a little green skin, his hand clasped on Loki's shoulder. "That's why he didn't speak when he first came. 35

Pepper was considered a very forgiving person, but when Banner spoke, she felt a strong surge of hatred. How evil is Thanos to want Loki so oppressed and insecure that he refuses to speak for fear of blame? She forces herself to overcome her anger and focus on Loki, who she realizes is shaking slightly.

"Why don't you go downstairs?" she asked with a smile. "I'll make some hot chocolate. You'll feel better. 99

Loki looked up and looked at her silently and gratefully. Banner helped him to his feet, looking around the wheelchair; then, thinking again, holding God in his arms, Loki's starving body was too easily lifted. He followed Pepper down to the kitchen and placed Loki on a stool in front of the counter, while Pepper put a pot of water on the stove and pulled packets of hot chocolate mixture from the cupboard.

"I want you to know something, Loki," she said. "We do care. Don't think what you say doesn't matter. We never thought about it that way, and we never will."

Loki stared at his hand. "Thank you," he said softly. "Thank you for saying that.
