Traveling through the game world, starting out as a third-rate villain
#198 - Vampire (3)
Night Creatures
This term covers many monsters, and some creatures take pride in such a name.
And vampires are one of them.
Vampires are a demonic race, famous for their endless thirst for blood, and they have woven themselves into legends and stories in various cultures.
But contrary to popular belief, vampires are not truly demons.
They are actually mutants produced during evolution, with origins completely different from traditional demons.
Vampires are not born, but created through a ritual called the "Blood Covenant."
The Blood Covenant is a blood exchange ritual between vampires and humans.
After a human is bitten by a vampire, the vampire transmits its own blood to the human, initiating the transformation process.
This eerie fusion creates a new vampire, who will be forever bound to the creature that gave it life.
After transformation, the vampire gains super strength and maintains its eternal life by drinking blood.
Vampires have many characteristics different from ordinary demons.
Their strength, agility, and senses are very strong, especially stealth; they can move in the shadows at will and attack unexpectedly.
Vampires are also known for their charming charisma, which can manipulate human minds.
This is also why vampires often appear in stories aimed primarily at female audiences, as these stories are often spread by women who were initially conquered by the vampire's charm.
The most significant characteristic of vampires is their need for blood.
Although vampires can also eat ordinary food, it cannot sustain their lives; only blood can provide them with the life force they need.
The process of bloodsucking usually involves the vampire biting into the victim's vein or artery, sucking the blood essence that sustains them.
Sunlight is often considered a vampire's weakness in folklore.
Although sunlight does not directly kill them, it greatly weakens their abilities, but this weakness only applies to low-level vampires that have not yet fully evolved.
Many legends of vampires have been romanticized or exaggerated over time, but their core characteristics have remained unchanged.
A demonic creature forever accompanied by the night, driven by a thirst for the essence of life.
'This is what is described in the game.'
Whenever a player encounters a new demon or enemy, information about them will appear in the lore tab.
The more you defeat this type of enemy, the more information about them will be revealed.
This is part of the game's collection system.
And I almost perfectly completed the game, so naturally I killed many vampires.
When these memories were triggered, I knew I was facing a vampire.
All the signs matched the vampire, especially its use of blood magic.
But I wanted to confirm it.
So, I went to the old library again at night, looking for the mentioned tunnel to confirm if it was really a vampire.
'It's really here.'
Now, I am standing in one of the tunnels.
'Traces of blood magic, this is the vampire's doing.'
If my guess is correct, Senior Maya may be about to be devoured.
Or, she might encounter an even more terrifying fate.
......
Amelia opened her eyes in the morning and instantly felt a heavy sense of fatigue.
She hadn't been able to fall asleep all night, and only closed her eyes around six in the morning.
As an Awakened, although she possessed super physical strength, mental fatigue still existed.
The morning light filtered into the room through the curtains, the air was quiet, and the surroundings were filled with a silent stillness.
Amelia stretched her arms, trying to shake off the fatigue that clung to her heart.
She sat on the edge of the bed and rubbed her eyes.
What happened yesterday replayed in her mind, every detail carrying a sense of urgency and mystery.
Maya's disappearance and Morse's discovery wove an elusive net.
She dressed neatly to greet the new day, her eyes flashing with determination.
Fatigue made her a little breathless, but she would not stop searching for answers and her friend.
After a quick, fatigue-washing shower, Amelia walked out of the room, her steps light and her goal clear.
"Hmm?"
However, she ran into someone in the hallway.
"You're awake too?" It was Morse, who was coming out of his room.
"Good morning, Senior Amelia."
Amelia smiled and asked with concern.
"How did you rest?"
He was also working hard, and as his senior, Amelia should of course show more concern and encourage him.
Morse scratched the back of his head, his eyes showing a little fatigue, but also determination.
"I'm okay, there are enough clues to keep me going."
'He really values Maya.'
She knew from the beginning that the relationship between these two people was unusual.
She could see Maya's concern for Morse, and Morse also behaved differently in front of Maya.
He was more docile.
"Then where are you going later?" Amelia asked curiously.
Morse hesitated for a moment before answering: "Um... I'm going to check something."
Amelia raised an eyebrow and asked: "Did you find a new clue?"
"Not exactly," Morse replied mysteriously, "I'm going to see someone."
Amelia nodded, understanding that Morse had his own reasons.
"Okay, remember to tell me anytime if there are any updates."
Morse nodded.
"I will." After saying that, he walked towards the exit, while Amelia watched him with a hint of anticipation.
Just as Morse was about to leave, he suddenly turned around.
"Is Sylvie awake?"
Amelia shook her head.
"No, she's still resting.
She went through a lot yesterday and needs to sleep a little longer."
A hint of thought flashed across Morse's expression.
"I need to talk to her about something, can you tell me when she wakes up?"
Amelia nodded in agreement.
"No problem, I'll notify you when she wakes up."
Morse nodded, turned and left, leaving Amelia in thought.
'What do they want to talk about?'
She thought silently, but knew that now was not the time to ask.
Then, she returned to her room to prepare for breakfast.
Just as she sat down to think about the coming day, the phone rang.
She glanced at the caller ID and found that it was the advisor in charge of the History and Arts Club.
She answered the phone curiously.
"Good morning, advisor."
"Good morning, Amelia."
The advisor's voice carried a hint of guilt.
She should have accompanied them on this trip, but she thought West Oukes was safe and made this decision.
"I want to confirm, you haven't returned to the academy yet, have you?"
"Yes, advisor.
I'm still here."
The advisor's tone suddenly became serious.
"Amelia, I understand your concern for Maya, but now is the time to consider returning.
Leave the investigation to the authorities, they are more capable of handling this situation."
Amelia took a deep breath and then answered firmly.
"Thank you for your concern, advisor, but I can't leave.
Maya is my friend, and I can't just abandon her like this."
The advisor on the other end of the phone sighed.
"Amelia, I understand the friendship between you, but this situation is becoming more and more complicated, and it is not safe for students to participate in these things."
"I know it's dangerous, but I can't stand idly by."
The advisor fell into a state between understanding and worry.
"Amelia, the academy cares about each of you, your safety is our top priority, please come back first."
Amelia remained unwavering.
"I can't let Maya face the danger alone, I will stay until I find her.
I promise, I will be careful."
The advisor sighed again, realizing that it was difficult to persuade Amelia.
"Amelia, I'm not forcing you, but I hope you can consider the consequences of your decision, and the same goes for the two students with you, remember to notify them."
After saying these words, the phone was hung up, leaving Amelia in thought.
She knew why the academy did this, and her actions were not rational.
But in the end, knowing the consequences and being able to get rid of emotions are two different things.
Ding-dong!
Just as she was thinking, the doorbell rang.
"Senior Amelia, it's me, Sylvie."
It was her other junior.
Amelia walked to the door and opened it, standing before her was a girl with messy hair and dark circles under her eyes.
Seeing Sylvie's appearance, Amelia's eyes softened.
"Sylvie, come in." She saw the fatigue on Sylvie's face and also felt the heaviness in her own heart.
Sylvie walked in, and Amelia gently closed the door.
"Are you okay?" Amelia asked sincerely.
Sylvie nodded weakly.
"I... I'm okay."
"Sit down, let's talk." Amelia motioned for Sylvie to sit at the small table.
She knew very well what this girl had gone through.
"Did you sleep?"
Sylvie hesitated for a moment before answering.
"I slept for a while, last night was hard."
Amelia nodded understandingly.
"I can understand, I didn't sleep much either.
Let's eat something, maybe it will help."
"Okay."
Sylvie nodded in acceptance, and Amelia immediately ordered another breakfast on the hotel website.
"Where's Morse?" Sylvie looked around, her eyes sweeping across the room.
"He just went out."
"He went out?"
"Yeah, he said he was going to see someone."
"..." Sylvie was silent for a while.
"He also said he needed to talk to you alone, saying to call him when you feel better."
When the need to talk alone was mentioned, Sylvie's expression changed, and Amelia immediately noticed it.
'I understand.'
Amelia nodded inwardly, a pleasant smile on her face.
However, this smile quickly turned into worry...
