Two Worlds: I studied at Hogwarts
#120 - Hagrid's Secret
On Saturday noon, after lunch, Moon took Bouncy to Hagrid's hut.
Like Moon bringing Bouncy, Bouncy didn't come empty-handed either.
It brought a small "Bouncy" for Fang.
"Oh, is this Fang's new gift? It's small... very exquisite!"
Hagrid pinched a clay figure about the size of his fingernail, turning it over and over to look at it several times.
It wasn't until he saw Fang staring at his hand that he placed the small clay figure at Fang's feet.
For Bouncy, the small clay figure that required two small paws to hold, was completely hidden from view when Fang pressed it with one paw.
"Fang won't break it, will he?"
"Don't worry, this clay figure is very sturdy."
"Oh, that's good. Actually, I'm more afraid he'll eat it."
After saying this, Hagrid ignored the two animals playing on the ground.
"Actually, I also have something to give you."
"Give me?"
Just as Moon was curious, Hagrid pulled a dirty little cloth bag from inside his moleskin coat.
"This is your trophy."
"Trophy?"
After taking the bag from Hagrid's hand with a puzzled expression, Moon smelled a strong stench before even opening it.
"This is..."
"These are a troll's toenails and hair. I know you defeated this big guy, so I kept these things when I was helping Professor Snape move them."
"Th... thank you very much."
After hearing Hagrid's explanation, Moon stopped himself from opening the bag in time.
He had had face-to-face contact with the troll, and the stench on this big guy could even cover up Professor Quirrell's garlic smell.
He couldn't imagine whether the four creatures in Hagrid's hut would faint after the bag was opened.
"Okay, you didn't call me here just for these toenails, did you?"
As Moon spoke, he placed the small cloth bag under the eaves outside the wooden house, not wanting to inhale the air while talking.
"Of course not, I... I... Actually, you know..."
This was the first time Moon had seen Hagrid stutter so much, which made him even more curious about what was going to happen next.
"Do you remember what I told you last time about repairing a wand?"
"Of course, it was before Halloween. You said a lot when I was carving pumpkin lanterns."
"That's right. Actually, the reason I called you here today is to ask you to repair a wand."
As Hagrid spoke, his two big hands kept rubbing together, not knowing whether it was embarrassment or nervousness.
"Why not find a professional? Like Ollivander. After all, you know I'm not very proficient in this."
"Ollivander, no, he's too famous. Almost all the wizards in Britain will be watching there, not to mention those guys with very sensitive noses."
Being famous is not good, and he has to hide from someone.
Hagrid's statement made Moon a little incomprehensible.
"Okay, actually, I don't want others to know about this. It needs to be kept secret, top secret, you know?"
Hearing Hagrid's serious tone, Moon nodded solemnly.
"Of course, don't worry, I won't tell anyone about this. The only ones who will know are..."
After Moon finished speaking, he looked around the wooden house again.
"Only the four of us know."
Seeing Moon pointing his finger at Bouncy and Fang, Hagrid relaxed a lot.
"Oh, I'm relieved. After all, the two of them won't talk nonsense, will they?"
As Hagrid spoke, he took out a pink little umbrella from his other pocket.
After he easily pulled open the umbrella handle, a brown wand slid out directly.
Moon quickly caught the wand that was about to fall to the ground.
Then he discovered that there were traces of breakage in the middle of the wand.
"Was this broken artificially?"
"That's right, but they really wronged me."
Seeing that Hagrid was a little embarrassed and didn't want to continue talking, Moon didn't ask further.
After carefully examining the wand, Moon couldn't help but ponder.
"Oak wand body, unicorn tail hair core, 16 inches long."
This was the first time Moon had seen such a long wand, but after taking a look at Hagrid's height, he felt that this length was very suitable.
"Is this Ollivander's craftsmanship?"
"Yes, but it's really inconvenient for me to ask him to repair it now."
"Okay, actually, I just carefully checked it. Because the wand body has been broken for too long, many of the original lines inside have been worn away. Are you sure you don't want to change to another wand?"
After Moon finished speaking, he gently put the wand back on the table.
Although this broken wand was well preserved by Hagrid in the umbrella shaft of the umbrella, there was still a lot of sawdust falling off.
"I actually like it very much. If it can be repaired, of course it's the most suitable."
"Okay, if you're sure you don't want to replace the wand body, then you need to prepare a similar magical oak. As for the tools and glue, I'll bring my own."
"Actually, I have glue here."
As Hagrid spoke, he walked to a large wooden cabinet, opened it, rummaged through it, and took out a wooden cylindrical jar. "I picked this from the Terminalia catappa tree. I usually use it to repair some furniture. It's very useful."
Moon took the glue jar, stretched out his index finger, stuck a little, and then pinched it with his thumb to test it.
"The adhesion is a bit poor. After all, your wand is too long, and the force you exert when you wave it must be greater than that of ordinary people, so it's better to use mine."
The glue Moon was talking about was the snail grass glue made by Senior Bernard in the Herbology Club.
After Bernard's three years of continuous improvement, this glue has very high viscosity and does not affect the transmission of magic power. It is a very good magical bonding material.
"Okay, I'll go find a magical oak. A week should be about the same."
Hearing Hagrid say this, Moon also nodded.
"In addition, to be on the safe side, I'll come over on the weekend, so no one will know what I'm doing."
"Okay, thank you so much."
While Moon and Hagrid were discussing repairing the wand, Malfoy received a letter from his father.
In addition to daily care, the letter also invited Professor Snape to attend a dinner at Malfoy Manor.
Such things happened once every month or two, and Malfoy was used to it.
However, this invitation was not as simple as before.
When Malfoy inquired everywhere and finally found Snape in the library's storage room, the professor was still reading tattered potion books.
"Professor, Professor, are you okay?"
After calling several times without getting a response, Malfoy's voice gradually increased.
"Huh? Draco! What's the matter?"
Looking at Snape in front of him with dark circles under his eyes and chapped lips, Malfoy couldn't help but be stunned for a moment.
"Oh, oh, it's my father. He would like to invite you to attend a dinner at Malfoy Manor tonight."
"Tonight? No, I still have many books to read."
Hearing another meaningless invitation to a banquet, Snape turned around and continued to study the old potion books from many years ago.
