Two Worlds: I studied at Hogwarts
#254 - Wand inspection
As soon as McGonagall's figure appeared in the cabin, a frosty expression settled on her face.
"Mr. Scarlett, it's already 11 PM, you should be in your dorm!"
Hearing McGonagall's stern words, a hint of guilt appeared on Moon's face.
In fact, compared to Snape and Headmaster Dumbledore, Moon was more afraid of facing McGonagall.
This Head of Gryffindor had not only led Moon into the magical world but also cared for him greatly in his daily life.
"You're right, Professor, I know I was wrong."
Facing McGonagall's reprimand, Moon was also very sincere.
"Alright, explain why you're here."
As McGonagall spoke, Dumbledore and Snape walked into the cabin.
Snape was constantly observing his surroundings, hoping to find the evidence Malfoy had mentioned.
As for Dumbledore, he only glanced at the table after entering the house, then stood in place looking at Hagrid.
"I... I'm studying magic."
Thinking that observing and feeding a dragon also increased his magical knowledge, Moon explained somewhat nervously, "Studying magic? How did Mr. Malfoy hear that there's a dragon here?"
McGonagall was well aware of the little lion's diligence, so she wasn't surprised to hear Moon say he was studying magic.
But coming to the Forbidden Forest cabin to study still made her somewhat suspicious.
"I'm practicing Transfiguration, Professor, you can see for yourself."
As Moon spoke, he took out his wand and aimed it at a small chair in front of the fireplace, casting a Transfiguration spell.
"Oh! Is that real?"
Watching the chair transform into a small dragon in an instant, McGonagall was very surprised.
She was quite certain that she hadn't taught this kind of high-level Transfiguration to first-year students.
"It's not real, it's just a wooden sculpture!"
Snape had also been observing Moon, having already witnessed Moon's spell level far exceeding his peers.
When he saw the chair turn into a dragon, he was also surprised for a moment, then immediately walked over to observe it carefully.
"Oh, just a wooden sculpture! That's still very impressive, but you left the castle at night, so I have to deduct points."
McGonagall was very pleased that Moon had mastered this level of Transfiguration.
She glanced at the two professors next to her and withdrew her stern gaze.
"In addition to being confined, you will have twenty points deducted."
Moon couldn't refute such a punishment.
Fortunately, he had helped Senior Belna repair the snail grass on Monday, and Professor Sprout had rewarded Moon with fifty points.
Deducting twenty was acceptable.
Snape, on the other hand, kept staring at the small dragon that the chair had transformed into. This wooden sculpture was very realistic, like a newborn Norwegian Ridgeback.
"No wonder Malfoy mistook it~"
Snape muttered softly, then checked the room again.
The messy furniture, the dilapidated decorations, and the countertops that hadn't been wiped for a long time.
Such an environment was difficult for the always meticulous Snape to adapt to. After not finding any other suspicious items, Snape turned and walked out of the house with a hint of disgust.
Although he couldn't find the real dragon, he was still somewhat pleased to hear that Gryffindor was being penalized.
Even though Snape's relationship with Moon had improved, when it came to the House Cup, the Potions Master certainly hoped that Slytherin would continue to win.
I don't know if Dumbledore saw through the Invisibility Cloak at a glance, but he had been standing in front of the table ever since he entered the house.
He didn't move a step.
"You shouldn't be harboring it, Hagrid."
"I... I..."
Hearing Dumbledore's words, Hagrid was obviously flustered, his large hands helplessly rubbing together, like a child who had made a mistake.
"Harboring? Oh, yes, Hagrid, you shouldn't be harboring students who visit late at night."
Professor McGonagall was confused at first, then reacted when she looked at Moon.
"Okay, Professor, I won't do it again."
Seeing Moon signal him to nod, Hagrid also quickly nodded in agreement.
"Heh heh ~"
Dumbledore smiled helplessly as he watched Moon and Hagrid shake their heads together.
"Well, it seems you already have a solution, I hope you won't disappoint me."
Seeing that Dumbledore had finally stopped staring at him, Hagrid wiped the sweat from his forehead.
"As for you, Mr. Scarlett."
Dumbledore tapped the table, then looked at Moon.
"Your wand doesn't seem to be from Ollivander's, does it?"
When Moon cast the Transfiguration spell to turn the chair into a small dragon sculpture, Dumbledore was also surprised.
Having been involved in Transfiguration education for many years, he was well aware that it was difficult for first-year wizards to possess such magical attainments.
At least among the students he had taught, only Tom had such ability.
Thinking of this, Dumbledore couldn't help but observe Moon carefully again, and then discovered the special wand in the young wizard's hand.
"That's right, Professor, you should know that I have mastered wand-making."
Moon wasn't nervous, the old willow wand in his hand was indeed made by him personally, but the materials didn't belong to this world.
"Can I take a look?"
Dumbledore smiled and walked towards Moon.
"Of course, I hope you can give me some pointers."
Moon hesitated slightly, then immediately handed the wand over.
He knew that Dumbledore's attainments in alchemy were extraordinary, and he didn't need to hide anything.
"Hmm, it was indeed made less than a year ago, hiss~, willow wood shaft, very good feel, the core is unicorn's... hmm?"
Dumbledore's vision was definitely beyond all the wizards of the time. He only glanced at it and saw through Moon's wand materials.
"Oh, not just the core, such a material combination is rare, it should be very compatible with you."
Dumbledore said, handing the wand back to Moon.
"Yes, Professor, it's easier to use than the previous one."
Moon didn't know what Dumbledore had discovered, he could only answer truthfully.
"Is that so, I hope you can make good use of it, and remember to handle tonight's matter properly, and then let Hagrid send you back to the castle."
"Okay, Professor."
Moon had just agreed when McGonagall immediately interrupted.
"No need to trouble Hagrid, Mr. Scarlett, you will return to the castle with us now."
McGonagall had long been accustomed to Dumbledore saying things that people couldn't understand.
While Dumbledore was observing Moon's wand, she also curiously looked at it.
After finding nothing special, she wanted to lead Moon back to the castle directly, "Okay, Professor~"
Moon replied helplessly, then winked at Hagrid and followed McGonagall out of the cabin, "I never thought I would find four students wandering outside in one night, I've never encountered such a thing before....."
Professor McGonagall kept scolding Moon along the way.
Snape was waving the Lumos Solem in front to lead the way, but the corners of his mouth were always upturned.
Dumbledore and Moon walked together, he had long been accustomed to McGonagall's speaking style.
Noticing Moon asking him for help, Dumbledore smiled and shook his head.
Back in the common room, Moon saw the dejected Harry, Hermione, Ron, and Neville.
"I was going to find you, but I didn't expect to be discovered by Professor McGonagall."
Neville hadn't gone to sleep either, he was now explaining to the three little wizards why McGonagall had appeared on the way to Hagrid's cabin.
"Alright, it's not your fault, Neville."
Hermione had just said a sentence when she saw Moon's figure, she quickly got up from the sofa and ran over.
"How is it? Did the professors find out?"
Seeing Moon shake his head, Hermione breathed a sigh of relief.
"That's good, otherwise our punishment would be more severe."
"It's not good at all, everyone was deducted twenty points, now Gryffindor is at the bottom."
