Under the Red Dragon

#20 - Akezi is flexible and adaptable

Bang! Blue Dragon Akxz, having crashed onto the grassland, was bleeding from all his facial features, and barely had enough strength left to wail. However, the dragon pack and kobolds had already shifted their attention away from him.

The boiling blood of the dragon allowed Kalon to let out a victor's roar. Even after a short burst of intense combat, he was somewhat overwhelmed. The excessively surging magic caused every muscle and organ in his body to cry out in pain, but all of this was transformed into a majestic and stirring roar that carried far and wide.

The young dragons watched the red dragon standing tall, covered in blood. Although he retracted his power immediately upon landing, the surging aura had turned everything within a hundred meters to ash. The ground beneath him was like a life-drained purgatory, where even the moist, fertile soil had been scorched dry. This was a display of power, and also the majesty of a dragon king.

At that moment, a sense of submission arose from the depths of the young dragons' hearts. Kalon's identity was no longer just the strongest among their playmates. The dragon pack's response to Kalon's summons was no longer just a response to a powerful companion. To them, Kalon was no longer just the linchpin holding the dragon pack together.

Kalon had accomplished something they could not, so at this moment, the dragon pack revered him as their king, no longer just a leader in name, but the master of the dragon pack. This was proven by the subtle yet firm power connecting the young dragons to the mysterious runes in Kalon's mind.

As for Kalite, the dragon pack deliberately ignored her. Perhaps tomorrow, perhaps next month, or next year, Kalite would ultimately just be a member of the dragon pack, and the dragon pack would no longer fear her authority.

"Is this Kalon's true power?" White Dragon Gemott and his brother watched with awe at the young dragon king, once just the object of their crude jokes. The red dragon's power was an unattainable dream for the frail white dragon. "Perhaps Kalon's title should be 'Infernal Tyrant' from now on."

"Perhaps it should be 'Infernal Monarch,'" the steady Blue Dragon Doss said, trying to mask the tremor in his voice, with a composed expression.

"No dragon gets a title during their youth. A title that's too famous will attract trouble. Our dragon pack isn't strong enough to deal with those troublesome treasure hunters and dragon slayers," Black Dragon Rosani, who often followed Kalon and was instilled with the idea of 'accumulating resources and biding your time,' said hoarsely, pursing his lips. "It's more appropriate to have that title after Kalon becomes a young dragon."

The two female dragons with shining eyes did not express their opinions, but they showed it through their actions. Kleinaya and Antajaina stepped forward, lowered their limbs, and bowed their proud heads. This was a posture of complete submission from a dragon.

Blue Dragon Akxz was in a miserable state. His left forelimb was torn off, and he suffered internal bleeding from the fall. Many of the scales on his body had also been torn off during the fight. However, these injuries were not very serious for a dragon. Most of the injuries would recover after a period of rest, and the severed forelimb would regrow during the next sleep, but he would have to be a crippled dragon for a while.

So, despite Akxz feeling aggrieved and shocked that he couldn't even beat a young dragon in his own family, he decisively expressed his submission to Kalon.

Now, he was happily sitting among the dragon pack, preparing to sit in a row and share the spoils. After all, the allure of treasure for dragons is innate. Even greedy humans possess treasure only to use it to change their lives, while dragons simply want to possess treasure, regardless of whether it is useful or not.

The dragon pack squatted around Kalon in a circle. Kalon sat in front of a small mountain of gold and silver bricks. These gold and silver pieces, crudely smelted by the kobolds, were not very pure and contained many impurities, and they were of different sizes. But their advantage was in their quantity. At this moment, the dragon pack was staring intently at Kalon's movements, the dazzling scales on the red dragon were not overshadowed by the light emanating from the gold and silver.

Kalon arched his back and used his huge dragon claws to divide the collected gold, silver, and jewels into two piles, leaving the other ores and unsmelted gold and silver aside. One pile was larger, and the other was smaller. Even so, the volume of both piles of treasure was enormous.

Then, Kalon separated eight portions from the smaller pile of treasure, with seven portions being equal, and the remaining portion being twice as large as a single one of the other seven.

Finally, Kalon sat down and pointed to the divided treasures, saying, "These treasures were originally offered to me by my followers. Logically, these treasures should belong to me alone, but I want to build an unprecedentedly powerful dragon pack, so today I will share my treasures with you. This is also the beginning of the future agreements of the dragon pack."

Black Dragon Rosani withdrew his gaze from the treasure that shone with a lovely luster, licked his lips, and opened his mouth to say, "Speak, Kalon. You are now the leader of the dragon pack, and I will support your will, especially since you are generously sharing the treasure with us."

Blue Dragon Doss was thoughtful. He was different from the other young dragons. He had known for a long time that the red dragon had his own thoughts and plans, but he undoubtedly supported Kalon, so he nodded.

Kalon looked at the dragons listening attentively, and then said, "The dragon pack should be a real group in the future. The wealth of the dragon pack belongs to every dragon. As the wealth of the dragon pack increases, the wealth of each dragon will also increase. But in the future, the dragon pack will reward dragons who contribute to the family, and punish dragons who damage the family. The more contributions to the dragon pack, the more rewards the family will give him."

Akxz also agreed with this. This request was not excessive, and it was good news for him. He had been a model worker dragon for several years, and he thought his future rewards would be generous.

Besides, there were only two or three big and small fish in the family now, and they had not accumulated any treasures. The sum of all the assets of him and Kalite was probably not as much as the gold brick under Kalon's butt.

"Very good," Kalon said, satisfied, looking at the dragon pack who did not object under the carrot and stick policy. Then, he stretched out his dragon claw and pointed to the largest treasure, "Then the agreement is established from this moment. This treasure will be placed in the treasure house built for the dragon pack, as the development fund for the dragon pack's territory in the future, and the capital to strengthen the dragon pack."

"In the future, all the income generated from the dragon pack's territory, in addition to supplying the dragon pack's daily consumption, the rest will be converted into wealth and put into the treasure house, and then distributed on this day every year. Dragons who work more will get more, dragons who work less will get less, and those who do not contribute will not get any treasure rewards. I have finished speaking, who agrees, who opposes?"

Although the dragons were unwilling to have the future income of the dragon pack's territory go into the family treasure house, they were only greedy and not stupid. They also knew that as the power of the dragon pack grew, this would allow them to obtain more benefits.

A single dragon still needs to be constantly vigilant against the plundering of other members of the same race, as well as the prying eyes of other races, but under the power of the dragon pack, their treasures will be safely guarded. This is a sense of security that a single dragon cannot match.

Moreover, the dragon pack also knew the consequences of opposing Kalon's opinion at this moment. Just look at the miserable Akxz. But why does the miserable Akxz look so happy now?

The red dragon glanced around the dragon pack. It seemed that no dragon wanted to experience his fist that was bigger than a sandbag, so he nodded, "If no dragon objects, then come up and receive your treasure."

Roar, roar, roar, White Dragon Gemott rushed forward eagerly to embrace his treasure, while not forgetting to flatter, "Kalon, you are truly a generous king. I, Gemott, will be your staunch supporter in the future."

The other dragons also embraced their treasures one after another, smelling the breath of the treasures with happy faces. The two little female dragons actually lay directly on their share of the treasure and rolled around. Kalon also quietly lay on his treasure, enjoying the fruits of his harvest.

But soon the dragon pack fell into a happy trouble. The gold and silver treasures accumulated by the kobold tribe for countless years, even if divided into several portions, were still a treasure so rich that many dragons who were not doing well could not imagine. Several young dragons simply could not bring their treasures back to the dragon's nest.

Even the young dragon Akxz, whose dragon stomach was naturally used to load treasures, could not fit his treasures. The heavy gold and silver blocks could not be hidden under the dragon scales like gold coins. And Kalon, he not only got the most, but also needed to transport Kalite's share of the treasure and the largest share that would belong to the family treasure house in the future.

Kalon was troubled, but he hoped that there would be more such troubles in the future. Fortunately, he still had newly acquired followers, so he ordered the kobolds to cut down large trees to make transportation tools, and transport all the treasures and minerals to the dragon's nest.

The dragons who were not at ease with their treasures hovered back and forth in the sky, following the escort team. The kobolds had never had such a strong sense of security as today, which stimulated their diligent hearts, so they transformed into cattle and horses, transporting back and forth, and also relocating the tribe's population. They would settle in the forest within the dragon's territory, which was their new home.
