Under the Red Dragon

#25 - Dragon Catcher

Night fell, and the mountain range where the dragon's nest was located transformed into a deep silence. Even on nights when the dragons were asleep, this place was a domain that all other creatures dared not tread, except for a few elite kobold warriors guarding the wide canyon entrance, tasked with protecting the dragons.

The deep night shrouded the surroundings, and the canyon was devoid of light, not even the illumination of lamps. Clearly, the dragons did not share the habits of many civilized worlds, but then again, dragons didn't need such things.

Fortunately, kobolds were accustomed to living in dark caves, and these warriors, carefully selected by the kobold leader Barg to guard the true dragons, possessed the ability to see in the dark.

The gold-eating beast drowsily lay on the ground, resting. Unlike the kobold guards, it couldn't rotate shifts. Whether day or night, it had to stand guard with the kobolds, with only brief moments for eating and excretion offering it freedom.

But beasts ultimately possess more acute senses than kobolds. The gold-eating beast, with its eyes narrowed, suddenly raised its head. It seemed to have smelled a dangerous aura, but before it could discern where the danger was coming from, several spears hissed through the darkness. The kobold warriors didn't even have time to react before being pierced by the spears. Their small bodies were almost torn in two, sent flying by the powerful force, and fell into the darkness, silent forever.

One after another, pairs of eyes glowing eerily in the darkness emerged from the deep forest. Strong ogre warriors quickly approached, lighting torches. Flames also flickered on the cliffs on both sides of the canyon dragon's nest. The ogre tribe's warriors had surrounded the entire dragon's nest.

The gold-eating beast whimpered, tucking its tail between its legs, preparing to flee, but the ogre tyrant Molgoth lightly picked it up by the scruff of its neck with two fingers. It immediately shrank back, not daring to move.

"Hoh, a little cat. Give it to Fafna as a toy," Molgoth said, handing the little cat to the ogre beside him, his gaze turning to the two-headed wizard who was leading the tribe's other wizards in casting a spell to prevent the dragons from flying.

The Great Wizard Sahei and the other wizards waved the scepters in their hands, chanting. Shamanic magic surged in the air, resonating with their own bloodlines. A field with invisible power gradually covered the entire canyon dragon's nest.

The fluctuations of the field and the sounds of the other movements alarmed the sleeping young dragons. The irritable red dragon Klenya poked her head out of her cave, angrily scolding, "You damn kobolds, what are you doing... Augh!" The red dragon let out a roar warning the dragon group before she could finish her sentence; the dragon's sharp vision had allowed her to see the situation clearly.

The young dragons, who had initially thought the commotion was caused by kobolds or other dragons, quickly emerged from their caves upon hearing Klenya's warning.

"Damn it, where did so many ogres come from? Do they want to start a war with us by surrounding the dragon's nest?" The young dragons were shocked and let out loud roars, wanting to fly out of the nest and unite.

But they found that the ubiquitous magic that used to support their bodies with a simple flap of their wings was no longer under their control. The young dragons had to awkwardly control their wings, gliding down from the nest and landing on the open space.

The landed young dragons, thanks to Kalon's past training, habitually gathered back-to-back, spreading their wings to threaten the approaching ogres.

"Hahaha, surrender, you weak dragon whelps," the ogre Molgoth's tall figure stepped forward, his giant axe dragging on the ground, creating sparks. He looked down at the young dragons standing alone before him, the young dragon's not-so-thin body appearing particularly frail before his six-meter-tall frame.

"I don't want to smash your precious bodies with my great axe. They can fetch me a good price. Obey King Molgoth's words obediently, and I will treat you gently."

The violent and impulsive Molgoth wouldn't normally be so reasonable, but the ogre giant Fafna had taken a fancy to Klenya, the larger female red dragon in this group of young dragons, so Molgoth wasn't in a hurry to use force.

"What should we do? Should we join forces and rush out in one direction? Maybe we can escape," the white dragon Germot paced back and forth anxiously.

Klenya snorted out two sparks, "Kalon is still sleeping. What will happen to him if we escape?"

The blue dragon Dos let out a heavy breath, assessing the enemy's strength, with subtle lightning flickering on his body. He said in a deep voice, "Find a chance to wake Kalon up. We definitely can't break through with just us. We can't fly flexibly now. Flying into the air would just make us targets. Akurz and Kalit should have heard our warning too. Let's watch for an opportunity to act."

The blue dragon Akurz heard the dragon's roar, but he didn't rush over rashly. Instead, he patrolled from high in the sky, avoiding the field that gave him a strange feeling.

Seeing that all the ogre warriors' attention was focused on the canyon, he quietly glided down from the sky. Before the ogre warriors who felt something was wrong could raise their spears, Akurz tore their bodies apart with his dragon claws. At the same time, he spat out a bolt of lightning breath, the swift chain lightning directly charring several ogres and sending them falling from the cliff.

The other ogres threw their spears. Akurz, who had ascended again, was extremely agile, easily dodging these weapons. Occasionally, a lucky spear would fly in front of him, but the dragon would easily deflect it. As the king of the sky, dragons cannot be dealt with by these ordinary ogre warriors when their flying ability is not restricted.

The blue dragon leader Kalit was the same, not easily approaching the canyon. She and Akurz were separately clearing the ordinary ogre warriors on both sides of the canyon. She grabbed two ogres by their spines with her claws and dropped them from the sky, landing on the ground as a pile of minced meat.

She shouted loudly, "How dare you inferior ogres offend my dragon group? If you don't retreat, you will suffer the wrath of the dragons."

The young dragons watched the two dragons display their might, and for a moment, they became restless, preparing to swarm forward. Suddenly, they saw a beautiful and extraordinarily tall human stand up from behind the ogre warriors, that jade-like arm raised high, and a mental wave similar to dragon might instantly spread.

Akurz, diving down, felt as if his mind had been slapped hard by the claws of an adult dragon. He screamed and his entire body fell from the sky uncontrollably. Bang, the blue dragon collapsed on the ground, weak and powerless, and the ogres who rushed up tied him up by threading ropes through his wings.

Kalit, who was also coordinating the attack, saw the blue dragon Akurz fall instantly and screamed. She flapped her wings urgently, forcefully hovering in mid-air, and immediately turned around to run.

But the sneering Molgoth had already seized the opportunity, throwing the giant axe in his hand with all his strength. The axe, cutting through the air, made a sharp whistling sound. The speed of the thrown axe was comparable to the blue dragon's breath, arriving instantly and cutting off half of Kalit's wing.

The powerful mental wave also arrived at the same time, slamming into the blue dragon Kalit's mind. Kalit could only let out an earth-shattering wail before helplessly falling.

The canyon was silent. Panic and fear appeared on the faces of the young dragons. Even dragons, proud of their strength, were no different from ordinary humans when facing greater power.

Molgoth impatiently cracked his knuckles and walked up. The two strongest dragons in the group had already been captured. He no longer planned to give these ungrateful young dragons a chance. He would use these young dragons as punching bags and teach them a good lesson, letting these dragons know that the ogre tyrant was not the inferior race that dragons spoke of.

"Should we... surrender?" Even for the most timid white dragon Germot, the word surrender seemed difficult to utter.

Internal pride and the dragon's unwillingness to submit drove them to fight, but the rationality of knowing the disparity in power warned them to back down.

The young dragons no longer had any ideas. Even the blue dragon Dos, who was usually the most composed, had a brain like mush. Even the most powerful Kalit had fallen. What could these young dragons do?

"Kalon," Klenya suddenly shouted loudly, her eyes wide. The cave, which had been quiet all along, finally had movement.

A new week, I hope everyone is in a good mood, and by the way, I shamelessly ask for recommendation tickets and monthly tickets!
