Under the Red Dragon

#284 - Frost Giant King (to be revised)

In the distance, the wind howled, and the biting cold wind, laden with frost and ice like grains of salt, lashed against them. The wailing wind echoed through the mountain ridges and caves, sounding like the cries of demons and ghosts.

A musk ox ambled slowly through a half-dead forest covered in ice and snow, occasionally digging up some roots and turf from beneath the increasingly thick layer of snow, chewing and eating them.

This was a common creature of the cold regions, with a thick coat of brown fur that made it even more resistant to the cold than the yaks of the high mountains.

Its massive size was also what allowed these creatures to live freely in the wilderness. Even smaller packs of three to five winter wolves dared not casually prey on such large creatures with their huge bulk and formidable, thick horns.

Only the giant dragon species that roamed the skies could treat these bulky creatures as defenseless prey and delicacies. Or the frost giants who hunted in groups, their individual strength formidable enough to contend with dragons, and who knew how to cooperate, even taming other beasts or ferocious species as hunting claws.

Whether a musk ox encountered a dragon or a frost giant, even the strongest vigilance was useless, which led these creatures to develop the characteristic of leaving their life and death to fate, and not caring unless they died.

In comparison, the musk deer that peeked out from the trees were much more cautious.

These cold-region musk deer traveled in groups of three to five, their antlers covered in white frost, looking as if they were carved from ice and snow. Whenever one deer lowered its head to forage, another would raise its head, its eyes filled with vigilance and wariness, watching the surroundings for any sign of movement.

The howling of the cold wind was mixed with a peculiar sound, but these deer looked towards the distant horizon. Within the densely packed camp of predators, like a tide on the horizon, nothing stirred.

But the snow on the dead trees in the forest was shaking, and much of the snow slid off the branches with a rustling sound. Shadows appeared above the heads of these creatures, where they could look around but could not see.

Several behemoths extended their claws and teeth from the thick clouds, their thick bone horns as white as snow.

The sudden fierce wind and the aura of deadly danger made these beasts instinctively scatter and run in panic, but the wings of the giant creatures had already fallen like dark clouds, instantly pinning the deer to the ground.

It was a group of enormous white-scaled dragons. Pale scales, slender and streamlined bodies, each white dragon was over fifteen meters long.

These white dragons, like beasts drinking blood raw, disregarded the delicious delicacies in the bellies of these creatures. Their ferocious fangs tore open the throats of the beasts, and after drinking their fill of blood, they froze the beasts into ice blocks and then chewed them to pieces.

The remaining blood mixed with ice, appearing particularly savage in the mouths of these ferocious white dragons.

And the complacent, stout musk ox was also pinned down by a pale-scaled dragon far larger than these white dragons, becoming food for this enormous white dragon.

White dragons, as the smallest and weakest of the five-colored dragons, even after adulthood, their size was difficult to reach the normal size of the other five-colored dragons.

But this exceptionally ferocious adult white dragon was a full twenty-one meters long, its pale white scales covered in cracked patterns, its chest and abdomen growing white dragon feathers like long fluff, and even its tail growing white tail feathers, making it look particularly unique.

One of the dragon horns on its ferocious head was broken off, but instead of detracting from its beauty, it added to its fierce aura.

This was "Ice Hell" Sacrelace, who in the past wanted to rule all the white dragon tribes in the far north ice plains to dominate the Frostwind Ice Plains and fight against the frost giant king who now ruled the entire Frostwind Ice Plains for decades.

The huge ox bones were like fragile snacks under the fangs of this ferocious white dragon, chewed to pieces by Sacrelace.

But Sacrelace was different from other white dragons. Other white dragons would chew these hard ox bones into pieces and swallow them all into their stomachs. The dragon's stomach could easily digest these hard bones, supplementing the dragon's bone growth with a little bit of nutrients.

Sacrelace, however, would bite the ox bones into pieces, squint his eyes, and carefully suck the sweet bone marrow from them, then discard the ox bones to the side before starting to eat the musk ox that had not been frozen into ice blocks.

After the other white dragons finished eating, they could only dryly watch their leader eat slowly and deliberately. Even the discarded ox bones were considered a small snack in the eyes of these white dragons, but they did not dare to approach this white dragon.

In the cold regions, even for dragons, the flying overlords, finding food was not an easy task. They often needed to fly a long distance to encounter their prey.

But even under such circumstances, Sacrelace's style was still like this, which showed what kind of life this white dragon had lived in his tribe in the past.

In addition to these white dragons, there were many cold-region creatures in this area.

On the mountain slopes in the distant north, there were many figures with white fur, making wailing howls, chasing after the beasts in the mountains.

These creatures grew long and thick white fur, and looked like huge apes, but their heads grew a pair of curved, backward-growing horns, like bighorn sheep, and four straight, long fangs were always exposed.

This was also a race conquered and enslaved by the frost giant king—the northern yeti.

There were also some cold-region ogres who had mutated and evolved thick fur in the cold regions of the north, looking particularly terrifying, also appearing in the mountains and fields of this area, hunting for food.

And on the plains, there were also many winter wolf cavalry riding winter wolves, driving and hunting on the earth, mostly vassals and slave warriors enslaved by the frost giant tribe.

These frost giant slaves had to rely on their own hunting to ensure their daily consumption.

And the frost giants' stored food and supplies not only did not need to be distributed to these slaves, but these slaves also needed to frequently supply the frost giants with the food they had worked hard to hunt, in order to please these barbaric giant species.

Even the most powerful white dragon tribe under these frost giants was the same. Those white dragons who tried to resist had their flesh and blood fused with the frost giants, and their hard bones became bone hammers and clubs in the hands of the frost giants.

Even though "Ice Hell" Sacrelace was already the second most important figure in the frost giant tribe, second only to the frost giant king whose name even Sacrelace did not know, the second strongest.

But in fact, this area was located at the junction of the frost plain and the great prairie.

Yin and yang divided the twilight, and the magic of the world was undoubtedly displayed on the dividing line between white snow and green grass.

The barren creatures invaded by ice and snow were scarce, and the creatures covered by green grass were several times more prosperous than in this dry and cold region.

In the vision of these white dragons soaring in the sky, they could even see countless herds of beasts appearing in the distant grasslands, countless plump wild cattle and wild sheep running, but that place could only be hunted by the frost giants, and it was not the turn of these enslaved tribes.

At first, it was not so difficult. The frost giant tribe integrated the power of the extreme frozen plains and tried to go south, all the way to invade the grasslands and water, and no monster tribe could resist the frost giants' soldiers.

At that time, the tribes could freely hunt on the grasslands and enjoy an unprecedented prosperous life. Even these white dragons could play with their prey to their heart's content before filling their stomachs.

Until the frost giants' vanguard corps met the golden empire's touring corps and 'Crimson Roar' Kedyros.

Not only were the other tribe warriors all killed by the golden empire's army, but even the frost giant warriors who commanded the vanguard corps were all captured and enslaved.

According to some bold merchants who dared to risk the long journey to the frost barren, those frost giants captured by the golden empire were still working as slaves, building cities for the empire that were like spectacles to mortals.

The two were in stark contrast, heaven and earth.

Not only that, but the always fierce frost giant king actually decisively withdrew his troops after this probing, which not only confused the outside world, but also could not be understood by the many tribes ruled by the frost giants.

You must know that after unifying all the frost giant tribes and defeating 'Ice Hell' Sacrelace, who was also the overlord of the frost plains, and unifying the extreme north barren, the frost giant king had successfully jumped from mortal things to above legend, becoming a strong and absolute existence with legendary power.

How could a small failure defeat the will of such a powerful existence.

"You don't understand, and I don't understand either," "Ice Hell" Sacrelace said after filling his stomach, licking his claws, squinting his ice-like vertical pupils, and looking into the distance.

On the endless horizon, a dense camp made of animal skins was extremely large, filling the dragon's line of sight, and countless northern tribe warriors appeared in it.

Yetis, ogres, orcs, frost giants, and other tribes gathered the power of the entire frozen ice plains, 80,000 troops, lined up here, but did not advance or retreat.

It was this kind of style that was difficult for ordinary people to understand that allowed the white dragons Sloka and Ronney, who had defected from the frost plain dragon group in the past, to lead the golden empire's army warriors all the way to follow and pursue the pressure.

In the end, they actually relied on only 3,000 empire army warriors and thousands of auxiliary corps to build a tall sentry fortress line on the hills and streams dozens of miles away from the frost giant camp, confronting the frost giants from afar.

"Sloka, this bastard, was just a cowardly defector from the dragon group in the past, a lowly blood, and now he dares to appear in front of us openly, flaunting his power, I really want to tear him to pieces,"

A ferocious white dragon with a deep scar on his cheek bared his sharp teeth and said with gnashing teeth.

"With the leader's power, he can easily crush that bastard. How can the frost giant king tolerate being despised by such a weak bastard,"

Another young white dragon also spoke. Each of these white dragons had reasons and positions to despise the white dragon Sloka. Fearing war and escaping was a dragon's shame, especially since the white dragon Sloka was so majestic, making these slave dragons who were like prisoners resentful.

"Who can know what the frost giant king is thinking in his heart," Sacrelace said faintly. When he mentioned the frost giant king, the white dragon's ice-like pupils bloomed with complex expressions.

Frost Giant King, no one knew his name, not even the white dragon who had been his enemy for a long time.

Sacrelace only knew that when the frost giant king had not yet risen, he was ridiculed and despised by many frost giant tribes as a hybrid of the White Frost tribe, a remnant.

Life in the extreme north frozen barren was exceptionally cruel. Even the frost giants, who belonged to the same race, needed to fight each other in order to compete for survival resources.

In areas with flourishing creatures and abundant species, a tiger needed a minimum of ten square kilometers or more for its survival hunting territory.

If the species were relatively barren and the creatures were scarce, a tiger needed at least one hundred square kilometers or more of hunting territory to maintain its survival needs.

Even so, these beasts still needed to collect berries and prey on insects on a daily basis to try to supplement their consumption.

Ordinary beasts were still like this, let alone frost giants who were many times stronger than tigers and consumed many times more.

These frost giant tribes were in groups of several people, and a dozen people were in one settlement, often attacking each other's tribes in order to obtain a larger hunting territory.

Under these harsh conditions, the best ending for the defeated tribe's adult frost giants was to become slaves, and then they were often used as tools for hunting and fighting, and they could not get enough food supplements, and finally they starved to death alive.

The worst ending was that the adult frost giants were all killed, and only the female frost giants were left to be used as tools for the frost giant tribe to reproduce.

And the White Frost tribe, where the frost giant king came from, was destroyed by other frost giant tribes, and its people were massacred. Only he managed to escape from death.

No one knew how the frost giant king survived alone in this barren and dangerous frost barren as a teenager. Perhaps he dug the ice soil, which was as hard as iron, and lived on the bark, grass roots, and ice worms in it.

Perhaps he lived by picking up the dead remains of other creatures, but the frost giant king eventually survived.

When the frost giant king first emerged, it was when he alone defeated the leader of the Ice Wind tribe, who had originally slaughtered the White Frost tribe.

However, unlike other frost giants, the frost giant king did not kill the leader of the Ice Wind tribe, and therefore quickly gained the Ice Wind tribe's surrender and allegiance.

So the frost giant king, from then on, began to rise step by step.

He led the Ice Wind tribe, conquered everywhere, integrated all the frost giant tribes step by step, and finally confronted the white dragon tribe and defeated 'Ice Hell' Sacrelace, this gifted white dragon, and successfully ascended the ice plain throne.

Although the frost giants had been enemies with the white dragons for generations, after defeating Ice Hell Sacrelace, he did not enslave all these dragons, but regarded the white dragons as another tribe loyal to the frost giants.

However, other frost giants did not have the same thoughts as the frost giant king, but regarded the other tribes as slaves. Even the frost giant king could not change this kind of racial thinking.

"Perhaps these powerful people who can successfully reach the top always make others unable to guess their thoughts, because they see farther than others,"

Sacrelace said in a low voice, looking at the towering dragon king flag in the distance. He also could not understand why that red dragon would achieve such achievements.
