Under the Red Dragon
#45 - Xenomorph
The chains on Kalon's body were replaced with magical alchemical creations: magic rings. These magic rings not only suppressed magic, but would also emit a warning signal and cause a powerful explosion if forcibly removed. No matter how powerful a creature is, the inside of its body is always a relatively weak point.
Stepping into the wide and long underground prison passage of the arena, Kalon's first impression was the stench, an unbearable stench.
It housed prisoners of various races, now all turned into desperate combatants in this arena. There were weak races like hobgoblins, centaurs, and gnolls, as well as once-powerful races like orcs and elves, and many strange creatures that Kalon didn't even recognize.
Without exception, however, those who survived in this arena were the strongest warriors of their respective races. The weak had long become corpses or remnants.
These exceptionally powerful gladiators were assigned individual stone cells, while the weaker ones were crammed together. However, there were no conflicts among them, as simply surviving here consumed most of their energy.
The arrival of the young dragons did not surprise these gladiators. Teetering between life and death had made them cold enough. The most curious action was just a glance as the young dragons passed by their cells.
Although the young dragons were not yet fully grown, the power of the dragon race was beyond doubt, so each dragon was assigned a separate cell.
And Kalon, the strongest of the young dragons, had his cell at the end of this passage. Here were ten of the widest cells, specially prepared for gladiators of particularly large size, but currently only three cells were occupied.
Although the faces of these three gladiators were hidden in the shadows under the dim light, Kalon's excellent true dragon vision allowed him to clearly see their true forms: a werewolf, a vampire, and a centaur.
These three gladiators of different races all possessed strong power fluctuations, even stronger than when Will Clarence gathered everyone together.
However, the power on the centaur's body was significantly more obscure, and the fluctuations of power were also faint. If one wasn't careful, they might think he was just an ordinary warrior.
They were perhaps powerful warriors captured because of war failures, Kalon speculated casually in his heart, and stepped into the prison.
"Yo, a dragon has been captured too?" The vampire in the shadows appeared under the light, and mocked: "It seems that the dragon Tiamat did not favor her creations, and doesn't even care about her most beloved red dragon."
Kalon was not angry, because he had no intention of having faith in Tiamat. He just faintly mocked, "Didn't your vampire ancestors also used to be powerful demigods active in this world? How come they didn't favor your vampire race."
The vampire shrugged indifferently, "That old undead thing doesn't know where he died. Maybe he was killed by someone else long ago. The werewolf's ancestors haven't appeared for hundreds of years either. Maybe these two old things died together."
The fine scales between Kalon's eyebrows wrinkled. The ancestors of the vampires and werewolves were both demigods who were clearly active in the world of Akania. Although there was a feud between the two races, he found it hard to believe that two powerful demigods would die together.
Thinking again that the chromatic dragons were now too lazy to pray to the evil dragon god Tiamat, and it was said that the metallic dragon god Bahamut had not revealed any divine revelations for hundreds of years, and the powerful demigod ancestors of those races had slowly disappeared, this kind of thing always brought a strange feeling to Kalon.
Kalon shook his heavy head. The powerful soul power of the ogre giant had been giving him feedback. His soul had recently felt full, so he always felt his head was particularly heavy.
He didn't think much about it. There were no more clues to this matter, and there was no use in guessing more. His current priority was to think about what to do next.
His Heart Energy Vortex had accumulated enough energy for the next experiment and enhancement after this period of time, but he currently didn't have a relatively safe place and enough time to carry out the enhancement.
Perhaps he should carry out subtle enhancements little by little, so that he wouldn't have to spend a lot of time going into slumber. Kalon closed his eyes, ignoring the vampire who seemed to have a strong desire to talk. He had to sort out his thoughts.
Thus, one night passed. Kalon woke up from his sleep. The arena's attendants had already opened the small door made of fine steel, and carried in a whole live cow that was tied up.
However, the attendants were obviously a little apprehensive. Although they were also warriors with strong combat power, even if the dragon was bound by magic rings, its powerful body could kill them easily.
But Kalon didn't do this. It was meaningless. When he came in, he had observed that the arena had strict guards. Each lamp outside was inlaid with magic crystals, and each grandstand was a node of a huge magic array. He was not yet sure that he could escape from here.
Besides, the arena was located near the center of the city, in the prosperous area of the city. Once something happened, it would easily attract the guards' legions and mages. He only had one chance to try.
If it weren't for the magic arrays faintly appearing on the stone walls of these cells, maybe he could have tried to stage a dragon's redemption.
Kalon shook his head and looked at the cells next door. Maybe these three powerful alien species could also become his help. No one wants to live in a cell that can only be lit by lamps forever, and those imprisoned gladiators are good cannon fodder.
"Hey, red dragon, how about sharing some of your food with me? I like fresh food." The werewolf was obviously very dissatisfied that his food was only two dead chickens. He walked to the fine steel railings, his tall body close to four meters, his silver fur was already knotted, and there were many scars, looking like a down-and-out wolfhound.
These humans really treat me as a beast that likes to eat live things raw. Looking at the yellow cow with wide eyes on the ground, Kalon subconsciously wanted to refuse the werewolf's request.
But suddenly he thought of something. He looked at the werewolf and said, "If you want food, you can, let's make a deal. Tell me, what is the most important thing to win in a gladiatorial match?"
"Of course it's power, tearing the enemy apart with naked power, and then taking out the enemy's heart." The werewolf showed a mouthful of fangs, and the sharp claws hidden under the thick furry palms popped out, obviously the werewolf was a power worshiper.
"Forget it, red dragon, don't waste your food, it's better to throw it away to feed the dogs than to give it to this stinky dog," the vampire was very dissatisfied with the werewolf's statement, and shouted with a choked neck: "It's skill, gorgeous offensive skills and evasion skills, you will always encounter enemies stronger than you, without skills you will be trampled underfoot like that stinky dog."
These two alien species with a feud against each other were quarreling again, it seems that the life trapped here has not completely worn away their temperament.
"Wrong, it's control ability, strong body control ability is the basis for becoming a strong person, control is the key to victory, even if you are injured, you can still exert strong combat power." The centaur warrior said, "Red dragon, give me that food, these two idiots are not correct."
"You fart," the vampire and the werewolf retorted in unison.
Chuckle, the centaur made a 'unclear' chuckle, "I'm stronger than you!"
