Under the Red Dragon
#8 - Riven's Gift
"Phew, Kalon, can you two hurry up a bit? We're almost at my grazing bee territory."
Thepixie Raven flew happily ahead, introducing with a somewhat boastful tone.
"This is a method I learned from a giant tree druid who passed through the forest. The bee colonies I graze collect the sweetest flower nectar from the forest every day. The honey they make is praised as the best dessert in the world, even by merchants who come all the way from the human empire."
Kalon listened to the pixie's boasting while trudging along behind with the white dragon. Although the two dragons weren't yet large enough to have difficulty moving through the forest of giant trees.
But Raven's flight path ahead wasn't a straight line. She liked to fly up and down, turning left and right, making Kalon a little confused.
But he still keenly grasped the main point of the pixie's words: merchants who came all the way from the human empire.
In this place without internet or newspapers, contacting merchants was the best way for him to understand this world. Every merchant could be called a walking encyclopedia of miscellaneous books.
Moreover, merchants meant trade. Merchants didn't care if you were a dragon or a demon.
As long as there was profit, they could trade with you. In theory, merchants were the ones who treated all creatures as equal.
So Kalon asked curiously: "How do merchants come here? The road to this place isn't easy."
His predecessor's bloodline hadn't lived in this place, so the inherited knowledge in his mind didn't have information about this area.
When he chatted with Ak孜, he learned that this place was far from many civilized lands, a desert of civilization.
To the south was a vast, boundless forest wilderness, and to the north was an endless grassland and desert.
Without exception, these places were inhabited by many monsters, with ferocious beasts everywhere, and many magical creatures. These were all great dangers to humans.
Ak孜 andKalite were both outsiders, and hadn't nested in these mountains for long.
The explored surrounding area was probably not as extensive as that of thePixie elves who were originally natives. This was one of the reasons why Kalon intended to befriend thePixie elf Raven.
"Those merchants come by boat. There are not only humans, but also some short, non-smelly goblin merchants."
Raven saw that Kalon was very interested and flew back, standing on the red dragon's outstretched claw, explaining to Kalon while pointing the way.
"If you go far to the east from here, about two days of flying for me, there is a bay. Merchants come there by boat, and then many brave humans come with them to the forest to trade with thePixie elves!"
"But the merchants take a long time to arrive each time, maybe because it's too far!"
Hmm, Kalon nodded thoughtfully. This was the style of those merchants. As long as there was profit, what did a little danger matter?
He even saw in his inherited memories that many trade caravans forming alliances specifically crossed worlds to trade with demons in the abyss. That was truly being more greedy than dragons.
"Yikes," thePixie elf, seeing that the red dragon looked very interested, suddenly became anxious, waving her round little hands vigorously in front of Kalon's big eyes to remind him.
"Kalon, you can't secretly run over there. That bay belongs to the terrible ogre tribe. That powerful ogre tribe not only has a terrifying ogre king who can easily kill young dragons, but also powerful ogre wizards and mysterious ogre giants. They like to enslave other creatures the most. I don't want to lose a friend I just met."
"Okay, a friend's advice is worth considering." Kalon nodded, solemnly agreeing to the little thing in front of him.
He was indeed tempted when he initially heard that there was a bay where trade could be conducted. Such a place was a treasure trove for making money. But right now, he was too young, and the will of the dragon clan was not determined by him. This could be planned for the future.
"But is this the bee colony you graze? It looks a bit lively." Kalon stopped and tilted his head to look at the opposite side.
Under a palm tree as thick as several people could embrace, dense bee colonies flew around.
Each of these bee colonies, which looked similar to honeybees, was as thick as a thumb. When they scattered, they looked like a cloud, and the entire forest buzzed loudly.
A three-meter-tall black bear was tiptoeing to reach a tree hole in the tree.
Its entire huge head was stuck in the tree hole, one paw trying to scoop honey out of the tree hole and stuff it into its mouth, and the other paw occasionally swatting away the bees stinging it.
Occasionally, when it was stung too hard, it would shout wailing, but it refused to pull its head back, and kept humming and smacking its lips, obviously relying on its thick skin to withstand the damage from the bee colony and intending to eat its fill before stopping.
Although this black bear didn't seem to have entered the ranks of ferocious beasts, standing on tiptoe made it look like a small one-story building.
Its size was about the same as Kalon standing upright, and it wasn't a synonym for weakness in the eyes of the two young dragons at this time.
Seeing this situation, Raven had already flown over angrily, shouting, with the fairy dust fluttering behind her, drawing out phantoms. "This damnable big black bear is stealing my honey again, damn it."
ThePixie elf's small body suddenly stopped above the black bear, screaming and chanting a spell, and stardust-like fairy dust fell behind her.
The power of magic enveloped the black bear, and with a thud, the black bear turned into a little sheep and fell to the ground, its two dazed horizontal pupils staring at the sky as if it hadn't realized what had happened.
"Help me hold down this big bear," theRavenpixie was busy comforting the restless bee colony, leading the bee colony into the tree hole to check the losses, while greeting the two dragons.
She was still young, and her magical power couldn't last long. It wouldn't be long before this dazed sheep would change back.
Kalon and the white dragon stepped forward, one dragon holding down half of its body. Sure enough, after a few breaths, the power of magic expired, and the sheep changed back into a black bear with a swollen face from bee stings.
Although this black bear was the same size as Kalon, it dared not move under the control of the two young dragons. Trembling under the suppression of the dragon might, its small eyes were full of horror.
"Fortunately, this big bear didn't scare my little babies," after a while,Raven came out of the tree hole, the anger on her small face disappearing without a trace, and she was laboriously carrying a large flower basket in her hand.
This flower basket was obviously woven with the power of magic. The flower vines used for weaving were still fresh, and the tender green branches still carried the aura of magic.
The bottom of the densely woven flower basket was lined with some kind of huge, broad leaves, filled with a full basket of honey.

Raven hung the flower basket on the red dragon's claws, shyly raising her small face and said: "Kalon, I have to go check the situation of the other beehives. I will come back to play with you when I have time in the future."
After thePixie elf got Kalon's permission, she left in a hurry, ignoring the big bear who had become a prisoner. Kalon and Camid looked at each other, and decisively bit the black bear to death.
But Kalon didn't intend to eat in the forest. He wanted to take the prey he had picked up for nothing back with the white dragon.
This was a small idea he wanted to teach the young dragons, that some things can be shared, such as the delicious food roasted after being coated with honey.
"Hey, Camid, do you know the way back?"
"Kalon, I think you are much smarter than me."
Okay, Kalon had no choice but to hang the small flower basket on his tail and lower his head to sniff. Fortunately, the dragon's sense of smell was sensitive enough, not inferior to that of a dog.
The two dragons, like hunting dogs patrolling the mountains, sniffed in the forest for a long time before dragging the prey, which was also huge relative to the young dragons, back to the valley along the original road.
Kalon ignored the white dragon Gemot who came up next to him, and Camid also followed arrogantly and ignored his brother.
Kalon skillfully emptied the internal organs of the black bear, and then directed Camid to peel off the fur of the prey, and then put the emptied body of the black bear into the pond and rolled it twice to finally clean it.
Finally, he dragged a few dead trees from the top of the mountain, strung up the prey and put it on the fire, and started the first small barbecue after coming to this world.
Although he was a dragon and could adapt to the taste of any food. But eating food raw was only because the dragon had enough strong adaptability and laziness, which didn't mean that the dragon particularly liked it.
Dragons were not mindless beasts, and enjoying food was also one of the labels of dragons.
So when the food on the fire began to emit the charred aroma smell unique to barbecue, a circle of young dragons had already gathered in front of the fire, all the dragon cubs staring intently at the constantly fat food due to the roasting.
Looking at Camid, who was raising his chest with a look of inexplicable pride and diligently turning the wooden frame, the white dragon Gemot actually had some regretful thoughts in his heart. "Maybe I should have gone out with Kalon just now, so I could have gotten a big piece of food."
This idea was even stronger when Kalon poured a layer of honey on the roasted food, especially when he saw that the young blue dragon Ak孜, who used to disdain to sit with the young dragons, had quietly mixed into the waiting dragon group at some point, with glistening corners of his mouth.
Kalon didn't give up his dominant position because of Ak孜's(阿克孜: Ak孜) arrival, and he still distributed the food. This time he kept the delicious ribs for himself, and then divided the food one by one.
Ak孜 got the delicious and chewy chest and abdomen, and the blue dragon was also very satisfied. Camid, who went out with him, got the previously left internal organs and fatty abdomen, which was worthy of Camid's hard work.
There was no need to care about the remaining young dragons. Kalon just roughly divided the roasted food into several equal parts, and then began to enjoy the simple food in front of him.
"It seems that I have to pay attention to those merchants thePixie elf mentioned. I can buy many useful things from them. Well, condiments such as spices are indispensable."
Kalon smacked his lips, feeling that it seemed more delicious to eat like this, although it didn't quite fit his previous habits. After all, it was unsightly to smack his lips while eating, but now he was just a dragon and didn't have to care about other people's opinions.
