Warhammer 40,000: Mortal Gods

Chapter 533 Praise to the Lord of Ultramar

The position has been breached.

The low roar of the plague zombie seemed to be in Valens' ears.

Plague Marines appear in the trenches.

"You were the first." Another Plague Marine who had killed the others walked towards Valens.

Valens picked up a few grenades from the ground and held them in his arms. He wanted to die with the enemy.

But just when Valens was about to die, a short guy wearing power armor suddenly appeared. He walked out of the crack behind the Plague Soldier, raised his gun and fired at the Plague Soldier's head.

The weapon in that guy's hand seemed to shoot out pixels, and the bullets fired directly turned the Plague Soldier's entire head and upper body into quicksand that splashed around.

Valens wanted to thank him, but suddenly saw another Plague Marine raising a gun at him, so he shouted: "Be careful!"

The short warrior wearing power armor jumped back and disappeared in front of Valens' eyes. When he reappeared, he appeared from behind the attacking Plague Marine and took another shot.

Then more soldiers wearing power armor and about the same height as normal people suddenly appeared on the position and began to clean up the walking corpses and plague warriors who had entered the position.

"protect them!"

"Just like the warriors of the Five Hundred Worlds protect our brothers and sisters!"

There were shouts.

The battle became fierce instantly.

Those short snipers that teleport around kill lone Plague Marines.

Soldiers in power armor used their guns to beat the hordes of walkers into a quicksand-like substance.

There's even a giant human wearing power armor, and that's Ogryn.

Valens saw with his own eyes an Ogryn in power armor roaring towards the Plague Marine, lifting the Plague Marine up and tearing him in half.

Drones flew overhead, dropping incendiary bombs on the plague walkers.

The position was secured and the enemy's offensive was disrupted.

From the moment the enemy retreats, the alarm clock restarts for seven hours.

The soldiers who had been teleporting to snipe the Plague Marines before were teleported in front of Valens and put a collar-like thing around his neck.

"Your mask is damaged."

Valens heard the short soldier say to himself, and at the same time, the collar extended upward like a membrane of energy, wrapping his entire head.

The damaged mask was melted and turned into a black substance flowing in the energy film.

"Tyrone people?" Valens looked at the symbol on the chest of the short soldier, "The reinforcements mentioned by the Lord of Five Hundred Worlds have arrived?"

"No, the Tyrone reinforcements are still gathering. We are just the advance team sent out." The short soldier said and took off his helmet. He also wore a collar-like equipment around his neck, and also had an energy film.

This was clearly a Letling.

"Captain of the Letling Sniper Team of the 44th Infantry Regiment." The Letling man stretched out his hand.

Valens shook hands with the Letling man in a daze. He originally thought that the other party was going to perform the aquila salute.

After saying hello, Captain Leitlin put on his helmet and teleported to a hill on the side of the position with the rest of the team to observe the situation.

Talon soldiers armed with flamethrowers began to clear the trenches of corpses, setting fire to both friendly and foe alike.

The drone flew over the position and started spraying disinfectant, and the green gas lingering around the entire position was cleared.

Logistics machinery flew to the rear of the position and began digging holes to build underground facilities.

After a while.

Soldiers gathered in the underground facility that had been built.

This facility, built at an unimaginable speed, has accommodation and catering, and the facility also has internally circulated air where soldiers can take off their masks.

Valens and Burroughs sat at a table in the corner of the cafeteria, and a logistics machine floated over to provide them with a hot meal each.

Burroughs immediately devoured it, while Valens ate while looking at the officers gathered at the dining table on the other side of the mess hall.

The officers were talking to the Tyrone army officers.

"I said, we are just the advance team."

"The 44th Infantry Regiment has now been dispersed to various positions in Espandor. Captain Grote should be meeting with the Governor and Space Marines responsible for managing Espandor. I am just a company commander."

"Coming with us are the engineering troops, Taiwei's soulless medical team, and a huge amount of medical supplies. They are going to Yax."

The Tyrone officer explained the situation.

Then they exchanged pleasantries and complimented each other, one thanked the reinforcements and the other thanked the reinforcements sent by Five Hundred Worlds back then.

After such a set of procedures was completed, an officer stood up and looked around, finally focusing on the table of Valens and Burroughs.

Valens realized something and immediately lowered his head to eat.

The officer walked straight towards Valens.

"Valens, Private Burroughs. Stand."

The officer stood in front of the table with his hands behind his hands and gave orders to the two soldiers.

"Yes, sir." Valens and Burroughs immediately put down their chopsticks and stood up in the heat emanating from the lunch boxes, standing tall with their heads held high.

"You two just came into contact with the Plague Marines, right?" the officer asked.

Valens didn't want to answer because he heard that soldiers who had direct contact with the Plague Marines on the battlefield of Espandor would be sent out of Espandor and never come back.

"We are not afraid of death, but we are afraid of meaningless death, sir." Valens lowered his head, "If you need us to usher in death, I want to hold a melta bomb and die together with the Plague Marines in the next invasion."

Burroughs nodded vigorously to show that he thought so too.

"You know this is the 500th world, and you are members of the auxiliary army like me, right?" The officer raised his eyebrows and said, "So don't think nonsense. According to the rules established by the original body, you two can no longer stay in the position. After going down, you must immediately take the supply ship and go to the Yax Hospital World for examination and treatment."

"Bless the Primarch, I hope you two are as okay as you seem and don't get poisoned or anything."

"Anyway, let's go to the hospital world and get treatment."

As he spoke, the officer took a folded pamphlet from his pocket, then took off his gloves and began writing on the spot permission to send Valens and Burroughs to Aix.

"Yax? Garden World Yax?" Valens couldn't believe it. "Why...I heard that that's where only officers can go..."

"Ax is now a hospital world. Anyone who may be infected or has been infected must go to Ax for treatment." The officer tore off the permission from the pamphlet and handed it to Valens, "In the name of the original body, I Granting you temporary relief from the hell called Espandor."

Valens took the note. He didn't really want to go to Yax, because he felt that he still had the responsibility to fight.

Burroughs was much more excited than Valens: "Praise the five hundred worlds, praise the Lord of Ultramar!"
