Warhammer III
Chapter 15 Midnight Wanderer
Midnight Lords, the Eighth Legion during the Great Crusade, the Primarch was Konrad Curze, known as the Night Haunter, who betrayed the trust of the Emperor of Mankind during the Horus Heresy in the 31st millennium and was one of the nine traitor legions of Chaos Space Marines.
Before the rebellion, the Eighth Legion was synonymous with terror and murder. They liked to use violence and brutally kill their enemies without restraint, making their enemies surrender in fear.
The behavior of the legion is related to the experience of the Primarch Curze, who was swept away from the Terra Genetic Laboratory by the power of the Warp and came to a world called Nostramo.
The main export product of this world is precious minerals under the surface, and its cities are prosperous but without government management. Curze survived like a wild animal. He lived at the bottom of the hive, where there was no sunlight. In the dark alleys and deep in the hive, all kinds of depraved criminals lurked.
As a Primarch, Curze grew up quickly. He competed for food with alien creatures and criminals in the sewers. During his growth, he witnessed the corruption and murder of the world of Nostramo, as well as the people who lived in constant fear.
Curze chose to fight violence with violence. He kept arresting these criminals and placed their mutilated bodies where everyone could see and notice them. Curze's horrific behavior on the streets was soon called "Midnight Haunter" by the residents of the planet.
Not only did the criminals dare not go out because of fear, but other residents also locked themselves in their homes. Nostramo finally gained peace through twisted justice.
When the Emperor found Curze on Nostramo, he had become the ruler of this world. His rule was naturally not based on benevolence or rule of law, but fear and repression.
After Curze returned to the Night Lords Legion to participate in the Great Crusade, he still adhered to the views of the Dark Order. In addition, the Eighth Legion's troops were basically from criminals in prison and their descendants. When the Night Lords defeated the enemy in battle, they would destroy the enemy's city, kill the enemy's relatives, and hang the enemy's broken bodies high up for public display.
After the Night Lords rebelled, the Midnight Haunter Curze did not ascend to a demon like other demon primarchs, but was killed by the assassins of the Temple of Callidus of the Assassin Court. Curze's psychic prophecy had already predicted this outcome, but he did not prevent the assassination.
Due to the lack of clear leadership, the Legion continued to fight internally and eventually split into different Chaos Warbands, but they did not worship any of the four Chaos Gods alone, but Chaos without division. They ruthlessly spread fear among the residents of the galaxy, and this terror tactic could demoralize the enemy before the war began.
The fate of the Night Lords was the same as that of other traitorous Legions. After the Horus Heresy, they retreated to the Eye of Terror. They chose to be mercenaries for other Chaos forces, not only attacking Imperial worlds, but also attacking pirates in Imperial worlds, such as the Red Corsairs led by the Black King Huron.
After the Great Rift was opened, the Eighth Legion, which had become pirates and plunderers, prospered instead. They took advantage of the chaos brought by the Great Rift to more easily attack many Imperial worlds, and even raided the fortress monasteries of other Space Marine Chapters to obtain gene seeds.
If the Midnight Lords still had twisted justice during the Great Crusade, in the 42,000 years covered by the Scarlet Scar, they only killed for fear and spread fear with killing. They are already hopeless!
After the Midnight Lords' Night Whispering Warband carried out a terrorist attack, Captain Nichols sent new bad news to the Ninth Brotherhood:
The Gehenun Warhead Armored Unit rebelled, and the accompanying technical priest Norris of the unit was crushed by the tank he was inspecting. The rebel troops then raided the scattered infantry regiments of the Haraco Warhounds Corps, almost annihilating this Astra Militarum Corps, and Commissar Bernal was also killed in the battle.
In addition, the people in the ruined city rebelled again. They backstabbed the Golinn Jackal Corps, which was severely damaged and was fighting for control of the city with the rebels.
Faced with the rapidly deteriorating situation on the Red Earth Star, Tai Yue immediately held an emergency meeting to discuss subsequent military operations.
