Warhammer: In the Name of Nirvana

Chapter 695 Interlude: The Dawn Warrior's Diary

This is the 286th Terran standard day I have spent on Nikaea, and the 44th year since I left my real homeland: the years have passed, but I still miss the lights of the Far Eastern Frontier, as the best spiritual support for my survival in the Iron Blood and the Iron Warriors.

Emperor bless, now I no longer need to miss the years of Avalon all the time to maintain the spiritual strength needed for my survival like more than 40 years ago: to be more specific, since our Gene Father has not paid much attention to the daily operation and many details of the Legion, the living conditions of everyone in the Legion have become much better.

At least I can live longer.

No kidding, I saw the first batch of recruits who have survived for 30 years and experienced a full 100 battles in Hoth's company some time ago. Only some of them are Olympians, and most of the others come from the Legion's current pilot program [Expanding the World of Recruitment]

Of course, these so-called conscription worlds are only a series of colonies and imperial vassals under the jurisdiction of the Iron Warriors, with Olympia as the core. Most of their civilizations are backward, and the population of each world is not that large. It is unrealistic to rely on these initially expanded conscription worlds to maintain the operation of the entire Fourth Legion.

But this is still a good omen. At least we are looking for a solution, rather than waiting in vain for the death knell of destruction: the real hope of the Legion comes from the decree issued by Lord Perturabo on Olympia a few years ago. He ordered a preliminary reduction in the blood tax that Olympia needs to pay to the Iron Warriors every year, so that more young people can stay in their hometown.

I believe that Lady Kelly Fanny, who is rumored to have become the Archon of Olympia with the secret support of Lord Morgan, that is, the biological sister who has no blood relationship with Lord Perturabo, played a very important role in this process: this new law was actually handled by her, and her greatest contribution in the process of determining the law was to convince the Primarch himself.

It is said that at the moment when the [Delay Order] was confirmed to be officially implemented, all the ancient temples and theaters in Olympia were filled with celebratory bells, the marble streets were wet with the tears of mothers, and the ceremonies and altars dedicated to Lady Kelly Fanny were spread all over the mountains and ridges the next day. She is now the most respected Archon in the history of Olympia.

It is said that before this, this title belonged to our Primarch, but Lord Perturabo was not angry about it: on the contrary, he showed a welcoming and joyful attitude towards Lady Kelly Fanny's rebellious behavior. In the Primarch's own words, his sister was finally willing to exercise her talents.

He was even willing to leave a position of [Subordinate God] for Lady Kelly Fanny in his future [Council of Gods], so that she could sit with him forever and rule the vast universe with Olympia as the core together: for mortals, this is the supreme honor.

The Primarch even dispatched a special Iron Battalion back to Olympia to ensure Lady Celliphane's rule: I would say this is completely unnecessary. Not to mention Perturabo's reputation and Celliphane's popularity, the foreign aid that this lady can get from the Far Eastern Frontier and the Five Hundred Worlds alone is enough to ensure that she will sit in that position until her death.

After all, the entire Far Eastern Star Region knows that Lady Celliphane is the Queen of Avalon: Lord Morgan's closest boudoir friend. Although they don't always meet, their friendship is getting deeper and deeper. Long before I decided to return to the Iron Warriors, I saw Lady Celliphane's statue in the cabin of the Aurora, and there were roads and squares named after her.

Moreover, it is said that it was Lord Morgan who acted as a facilitator, allowing Lady Celliphane and Lady Euton to establish a good personal relationship, and then reached cooperation with the entire Five Hundred Worlds: when she was elected as the Grand Archon, Lord Guilliman sent an envoy to congratulate her, and reached a package of cooperation agreements and trade treaties.

Although these terms caused new panic on Terra.

So, to be frank: even without the help of the Lord Primarch, Lady Celliphane's rule will be long and long.

This is what she told me personally.

Don't be surprised, since the Primarch has decided to implement the monarch offline system in the Legion, then we war blacksmiths must always maintain the daily operation of the Legion after he leaves: reconnecting with Olympia in the name of the Legion was a proposal unanimously passed at the voting meeting of all war blacksmiths, and I just happened to be in charge of this aspect.

Who told me that I am the current acting commander of the Iron Warriors, the most trusted warsmith assistant of Lord Felix, the head of the Trident: If it weren't for the internal rumors, I would be a candidate for the next Trident, although I don't pursue that position.

It is a very pleasant thing to communicate with Ms. Kelly Fanny. She has all the necessary abilities of a ruler, and her control over the entire Olympia can even be compared with the Primarch: She even hinted to me during the conversation that she hopes to infiltrate such influence into the expeditionary fleet of the Fourth Legion.

In her own words: We can't let the Astartes warriors who fought for the Empire and their homeland forget the land where they were born and raised. They have the right to remember everything they shed blood for, which can better ensure their dedication and loyalty.

And what we have to do is just to add a little bit of Olympia style to each ship of the Iron Warriors: just like doing decoration, anyway, the veterans did not stop us from changing the damn postmodern minimalist style of the Iron Blood.

At least install windows: otherwise this thing is like living in a coffin.

So: why not?

Anyway, I have the power in this regard.

Don't get me wrong, my power is not much: it's just distributed a bit widely, involving about 20 or 30 aspects.

As for other aspects, they were taken over by other [newcomers] who came from the Far Eastern Frontier like me: This is not surprising. Those old predecessors represented by Lord Fricks, who came from Holy Terra and Olympia and had served in the Legion for dozens or hundreds of years, seemed to maintain a very contemptuous attitude towards these [strange tricks], and they did not like to fight for power in this area.

After the initial getting along, we Avalonians found that as long as we did not fight for positions such as Trident or Primarch Herald, which could contact Lord Perturabo who was increasingly reclusive on weekdays, then the veterans of Terra and Olympia would no longer pay attention to where we wanted to reach out.

They were even happy to see us Avalonians take on the Legion's external negotiations, exchanges with the mother planet, management of mortal auxiliary troops and mortal servants, and docking with Terra's responsibilities. These unimportant little things: most mortal officers and captains are now accustomed to coming to us Avalon officers to hand over tasks and report on the situation.

They all know that the casualties here will be smaller, and if they are lucky, they will even get medals: the most elite mortal auxiliary army loyal to the Fourth Legion is called the Seleucid Breastplate. Now, most of the officers in this army are willing to listen to our suggestions as much as possible without violating the will of the Primarch.

And we are attacking the remaining small group of stubborn elements.

This is not an easy task: Thanks to Lord Dantioch, he has been silently supporting our cause behind the scenes. In the past forty years, new partners with similar aspirations have always been able to come to the Far East Frontier. They are all new blood recruited by Lord Dantioch and our supporters who returned to Avalon before. Those with the most courage and dedication will choose to come to the Fourth Legion to help our cause.

Of course, Lord Morgan also paid great attention to it: she not only gave the green light to all these actions, but also gave all volunteers very complete military command training in advance. Each of them exudes the elite atmosphere of the Dawnbreaker.

To be honest: every time these new comrades bring me new news, new objects, and local specialties and delicacies that we all miss so much about Avalon, my nostalgia for my hometown in the Far East will be even stronger. The day I am responsible for welcoming them is often the day I lose sleep because of homesickness.

I thought that all of us would gradually forget our former hometown in the new Iron Warrior career, just like these Terra veterans and Olympians around us, but in fact, we still maintain a strong centripetal force for the distant Avalon: I always dream of making the Iron Warriors around me look like our hometown.

That will definitely be better: so we have to gain a foothold in more departments.

So far, everything has been going well: these Terra veterans and Olympians really don’t care about any power except the Primarch. We can even be regarded as reaching a cooperative relationship. They are addicted to the construction of new fortresses, while we are spending time in the legion.

Of course, they still have a firm grip on the equipment and construction positions. Since the Primarch stopped caring about the Legion, these idle warsmiths and old men have been crazy about building bunkers and making equipment: even if they have taken down a public toilet, they will build a semi-permanent fortress with sixteen machine gun ports on it.

Don't ask me how I know.

I never thought in my life that my internal injuries would come from a machine gun that was placed upside down.

But a blessing in disguise is that it was during the next recovery time that I finalized the Legion's next military expansion.

Our main recruitment points in the future will come from a series of colonies in Olympia, which is the result of the joint efforts of us, Lady Kelly Fanny and the Primarch. It was with this that she persuaded Lord Perturabo to temporarily suspend the recruitment plan on Olympia.

In exchange, the young men on Olympia must board the colony ship without hesitation and go to the vast space that the Emperor will soon give to the Primarch to make Lord Perturabo's fiefdom prosperous: this is part of his grand plan and the foundation for the rise of the Fourth Legion.

These thriving colonies will eventually take over the authority of Olympia and become our most important source of recruits: and the condition we need to pay is to help Lady Kelly Fanny maintain the influence of her rule in these distant Olympian colonies.

A good deal: at least before we arrived in Nicaea, we were firmly fulfilling our agreement with Lady Kelly Fanny, while also reducing the number of casualties in the Legion as much as possible.

The effect is remarkable, and the veterans have contributed to this: it turns out that if the Primarch is not behind them, they are not so... keen to die.

In recent years, the death rate in several key offensive battles has dropped by an average of 50 to 60 percentage points: although the Legion's death rate had begun to decline steadily before our Gene Father let go, it was not until he chose to let go more than a decade ago and threw most of the power to the General Assembly composed of warsmiths that the 4th Legion's death rate in each battle dropped to a barely reasonable level.

Before arriving in Nicaea, our Legion had reached 200,000 troops, and if the subsequent expansion plan goes smoothly, we can double this number in the fifteen years after Nicaea, and double it again in the next twenty years.

By the way, the Primarch fully supports our military expansion plan. It is said that in his grand cause, 200,000 troops are too scarce: he requires us to prepare at least 500,000 experienced veterans, only in this way can we barely match the grand cause he has built for the entire empire.

Of course, before that, he must first complete the grand cause on Nikaea.

To be honest...

To this day, I still can't figure out why they chose such a place to hold a meeting.

There is nothing here, except volcanoes everywhere: active volcanoes, extinct volcanoes, violent volcanoes and erupting volcanoes, which are like infected hair follicles after the wind, all over the pathetic face of Nikaea, until we pick all the pustules.

Fortunately, at least this is where our Iron Warriors specialize. We spent a few weeks taming every volcano here and making the world habitable again. All kinds of great buildings are entering the final stage of construction. I feel heartbroken when I think that they will not escape the fate of becoming garbage after the meeting.

But besides that, there are also good things happening during this period: at least we are about to meet Lord Dantioch, Lord Morgan, and our old friends and battle brothers in the Dawnbreaker Legion. We can have a good discussion with them about all the hardships we have paid in the past forty years.

But this is not the most important thing: just a few hours ago, I witnessed with my own eyes a group of recruits from Olympia and other conscription worlds being awarded medals by the war blacksmith, Felix, the head of the Trident. From today on, they are no longer privates, but grassroots officers who can take charge of various squads and companies.

This means that after forty years of hard work and training, we have finally taken a symbolic and critical step in rebuilding the grassroots fighting of the Fourth Legion, one of our most important undertakings: it is really a great cause that can fill my heart with a sense of accomplishment.

We chose to stay in the ranks of the Fourth Legion for this reason.

We will stay forever for this reason.

Until our dream comes true.

Until I can see the phantom that once belonged to Great Avalon on the Iron Blood.

——————

My name is E.

They call me the Dawn Warrior: so be it.

I come from the Far Eastern Frontier, grew up on the Aurora and the Dawnbreaker Legion, served in the Iron Warrior Legion, and may sleep in the Temple of the Iron Blood in the future: I am the common heir of Master Morgan and Master Perturabo. I am indeed fortunate that this identity did not tear me apart, but instead helped me in many ways.

And I will repay for this.

This is my story.
