When Su Mo and Long Teng arrived at the Grand Elder’s room, the Grand Elder was not the only one in there. Long Shuangshuang, Long Yu and Long Yi were among the few in attendance.

The ten participants of the Dragon Tribe chosen for the Thousand Selection Fight, including Su Mo and Long Teng, were gathered there too.

Their levels of training differed. Some were at Fifth Grade, Low Rank, while others had achieved Ninth Grade, High Rank. All of this was beside the point, because everyone’s training was equal in the Thousand Selection Fight.

“Grand Elder!”

Su Mo entered the room and bowed towards the Grand Elder who stood at the centre.

At that moment, everyone in the room was standing around the Grand Elder, obviously waiting for his instructions.

“Oh, Su Mo, it seems the Chaotic Chalcedony really worked on you!” the Grand Elder gave him a once-over, then nodded in satisfaction.

Naturally, he knew Su Mo had gotten the Chaotic Chalcedony, managed to break through continuously in his training and stopped at Fifth Grade, Middle Rank.

Long Shuangshuang and Long Yu had different ideas. Although they knew that Su Mo’s participation in the Thousand Selection Fight was the Dragon Tribe’s great fortune, they could not help but feel envious and jealous.

“I’m flattered, sir!” said Su Mo, modestly.

“Anyway, it’s good to have you!” the Grand Elder nodded and, looking around, said, “All of you are quite clear about the rules of the Thousand Selection Fight. The second session depends on your abilities, while the first session depends on a mixture of favorable conditions. What I want to say is: for the first session tomorrow, Su Mo will take the lead, while all of you will assist him fully.”

“What?”

“Su Mo will take the lead?”

“T-This… Grand Elder, that’s not right, isn’t it?”

They broke into discussion. Su Mo’s talent might have been the strongest, but he did not have to be the leader, right?

After all, everyone by then would have the strength of True God Realm First Grade. Su Mo might have great combat power, but it could not be as powerful as Long Yi’s Ninth Grade training.

They had different foundations, talent alone could not catch up.

For someone as strong as Long Yi, who was equally potent in every aspect, even if their training were suppressed under True God Realm First Grade, Low Rank, their combat power would surely surpass the average low-ranked martial artist by at least ten times.

Everyone else was actually expecting Long Yi or Long Teng to take the lead. One of them had the highest training while the other had the noble status of a Firmament Archosaur in the Dragon Tribe. Either of them could take on the responsibility.

So, they had never imagined that the Grand Elder wanted Su Mo to be the leader.

“Su Mo’s the perfect candidate,” the Grand Elder said solemnly. Initially he had wanted to appoint Long Teng, but Long Teng had suggested Su Mo.

Su Mo was surely better than Long Teng in every aspect.

“Grand Elder, I think it’d be best to have Long Teng as the leader!” Long Yi, tall and thin, donned in purple, said without a hint of expression.

He was quite upset with the idea. After all, having an outsider lead meant he might have to give up.

For example, if by chance he was not in the same camp as Su Mo, then he would have to help the man win at the cost of his own defeat.

That was why he could not agree with the Grand Elder’s decision. He was much more suitable than Su Mo in every way.

Of course, he knew how Grand Elder was, so he did not volunteer. Instead, he recommended Long Teng.

After all, Long Teng’s talent was undeniable too. In addition to his Archosaur identity, Long Yi was more willing to have him as the lead.

“Grand Elder, I think either Long Teng or Brother Long Yi is more than capable,” Long Yi, the handsome one, donned in white, said. He, too, refused to accept Su Mo’s leadership.

At the end of the day, Su Mo was just an outsider. He was not a true member of the Dragon Tribe. How could the proud Dragon Tribe be led by an outsider?

Su Mo frowned at that. But he could not ask for anything. Whether or not he was the one who would lead the Dragon Tribe, he would secure victory at the very end.

“That’s my decision and it’s final!” the Grand Elder said flatly and, looking around, added, “First, with Su Mo as the lead, if his luck runs low and we’re unable to gather favorable conditions, then it will be up to you all to act according to circumstances and do your best to make sure either Long Teng or Long Yi wins the first session.”

“Yes!” the others nodded in defeat. The Grand Elder had made up his mind, and they did not dare to overstep.

But, the Grand Elder’s arrangement was quite reasonable too. If Su Mo’s luck fell, they would naturally give up on him.

“Su Mo, do you understand?” the Grand Elder looked at him and asked solemnly. The meaning was obvious. He was telling Su Mo that if things did not go according to plan, he would have to forgo himself for the greater good of the Dragon Tribe.

“Yes!” Su Mo nodded. He did not need to be told. He knew what he should do.

If he was down on his luck, if defeat was inevitable, he would assist Long Teng the best he could. As for Long Yi, Su Mo did not see him fit.

“Alright. For the first session, the Nine City Battle, you must be careful. Dragons and Snakes are mixed in every camp. You cannot trust anyone completely,” the Grand Elder said aloud. The key to this session lied in the heart. If they could not make sense of everything, they would definitely lose no matter how strong they were.

“Understood!” the others nodded.

“The first session relies on the will of God. If any one of you manages to win in this part, then it’s all up to your capabilities in the second session!”

The Grand Elder’s eyes twinkled as he looked around again, before adding, “In the second session, you’ll have to retrieve the token of the Tenth City, stand out among hundreds of your camp mates, and take down the final victory.”

“Grand Elder, what’s a token?” Su Mo asked.

“A token is just a regular item, a sort of proof. You’ll see that once you get to Shenkun Small World,” the Grand Elder said.

“Oh!” Su Mo nodded, having had an epiphany. A token was just proof. It did not matter what it actually was.

“Alright, it’s getting late, we’ll head to the Shenkun Small World first!” the Grand Elder announced and then strode out of the room.

The others filed out after him.

“Su Mo, if your luck’s running low, remember the trade-off!” Long Yi approached Su Mo and said flatly.

He worried that Su Mo as the leader would forget the purpose and hang on to everyone else’s assistance.

Su Mo peered at Long Yi and ignored him. Even if he was down on luck, he would not be defeated easily.

Long Yi frowned, his mind slightly raging when Su Mo snubbed him, but he did not show it.

If the entire Dragon Tribe lost because of Su Mo, it would be difficult for the man to escape punishment.

Within the palace, the Second Elder Long Bai, Si Kongyan, Chi’er, and hundreds of those in the Dragon Tribe were waiting for them at the Great Hall.

When Su Mo and the rest returned, both sides met up.. Without another word, they left the palace in a formidable array and headed to the Shenkun Small World.
