We're building a super chaebol in Hong Kong
#85 - Berthing capacity reaches 50,000 tonnes
Now that Wentian Petroleum Company has been established, construction should begin on the Tuen Mun side.
After finding Weili, with a wave of his hand, 7 million square meters of land were all leased to Wentian Petroleum Company, with a direct lease signing time of 3 years.
Hutchison Whampoa is, after all, an independent group, especially since the privatization process has not yet been completed. It is impossible to give that piece of land to Wentian Petroleum Company for free. Buying it is definitely the best option.
Even though Tuen Mun is now a remote area with very low land prices, 7 million square meters is still not a small amount.
Therefore, it's best to lease it first. Both sides are his own companies, and that piece of land won't run away. We can wait until Wentian Petroleum Company pays for it later.
On July 15th, Su Cheng brought Zhou Zhou, the director of the Nanyang Refinery, the head of the Hutchison Whampoa Real Estate Design Institute, and relevant personnel in charge of asset management from Hutchison Whampoa Group to Tuen Mun.
Tuen Mun is located in the western part of the New Territories of Hong Kong, bordering Yuen Long to the north, Tsuen Wan to the east, and the Pearl River Estuary to the west. It is one of the areas in Hong Kong that is relatively far from the city center.
It began to develop into a new town in the 1960s, but because it is far from the city center, most of the locals have gone to work in the Hong Kong city center, resulting in not many locals.
Su Cheng and his group set off from Central, Hong Kong, by car, and it took them almost two hours to reach Tuen Mun.
They first went to Tuen Mun San Hui. Although it developed into a small town in the 1960s, because of the small population, the entire street was not large, and there were no tall buildings. If you walked around, it would take at most ten or twenty minutes to walk through the few streets in the entire street.
On the streets, it was obvious that young people were rarely seen, and the vast majority were elderly people and children.
After passing through the street, the car continued to drive towards the west. At this time, the original cement road had become a yellow mud road. Heading west, some warehouses could be seen occasionally, and it looked increasingly desolate.
"Boss, from that stone tablet onwards, everything to the west belongs to our territory," the person in charge sent by Hutchison Whampoa introduced to Su Cheng.
7 million square meters is very large, equivalent to an area of 7 square kilometers, which is about half the size of Lamma Island.
The car continued to drive forward, and after about ten minutes, it finally arrived at the seaside.
The vast Lingdingyang Sea made it impossible to see the opposite shore with the naked eye.
The seawater on the west bank of the Pearl River Estuary was extremely turbid, while the east bank where Su Cheng and others were standing was relatively clear. At least the seawater they saw was green.
"How big of a wharf can be built here?" Su Cheng asked the person in charge from Hutchison Whampoa.
The person in charge was a foreigner who specialized in managing Hutchison Whampoa's assets, so he was very knowledgeable about these things.
"Boss, if the shore extends a few meters out, at most a thousand-ton wharf can be built, but if it extends 100 meters out, a ten-thousand-ton wharf can be built at most, and if it extends 500 meters out, even a fifty-thousand-ton wharf can be built," the person in charge replied.
After listening to the person in charge, Su Cheng felt that it was still very good. International oil tankers generally have a carrying capacity of tens of thousands of tons or more. Although this wharf cannot be built to the 100,000-ton level for the time being, 50,000 tons can be handled for the time being.
Moreover, if there is enough funds, clearing the silt at the bottom of the sea and building a port of 100,000 tons or more should not be a problem.
However, these are also subsequent matters. Building a port of 100,000 tons or more will not only greatly increase the funding but also the construction period, which Su Cheng cannot afford to wait for at the moment.
For now, he will build a 50,000-ton wharf and make do with it.
Because Su Cheng had worked in Peng City on the opposite side in his previous life, he knew that the maximum berthing capacity of Peng City Port was 75,000 tons. Tuen Mun's location is more southerly than Peng City Port, and it is not an inner harbor like Peng City Port, so the berthing capacity must be stronger.
Internationally, each barrel of crude oil is equal to 158.98 liters, so a lot of oil storage tanks must be made.
He plans to design the volume of each crude oil storage tank to be 50,000 cubic meters, which means that each crude oil storage tank can store 50 million liters of crude oil.
With this design, preparing for the highest of 200 million barrels requires the construction of more than 600 crude oil storage tanks.
Of course, the two refining bases in Singapore and Lamma Island can share a small portion of the storage capacity, so the Tuen Mun base only needs to build about 500 crude oil storage tanks.
There is not much time left, so the construction progress is relatively tight.
"Boss, the most suitable place to build the warehouse is near the wharf. As long as the construction location of the wharf is determined, we can indirectly determine where the oil storage tanks will be built," the head of the Hutchison Whampoa Real Estate Design Institute told Su Cheng.
"Okay, let the survey team survey this land as soon as possible. I hope that the drawings of the wharf and warehouse can be released as soon as possible," Su Cheng said.
"It only takes a short time to survey where on these few kilometers of coastline is more suitable for building a wharf. Our survey team only needs to survey the water depth of this section of coastline," the head of the design institute replied.
"Then how long will it take?" Su Cheng asked.
The most ⊥ new ⊥ small ⊥ say ⊥ is ⊥ at ⊥ six ⊥ 9 ⊥ ⊥ book ⊥ ⊥ bar ⊥ ⊥ first ⊥ hair!
"If we rush, the survey results will be available in two or three days, and the initial draft of the wharf and oil storage warehouse design drawings can be completed within a week," the head of the design institute replied.
Murray MacLehose had promised that the supporting facilities and wharves in this area would be the responsibility of their government.
Asphalt roads are not difficult, and Su Cheng believes that the government can fix the nearby roads in a very short time.
As for the wharf, Su Cheng did not dare to expect the Hong Kong government to help build it. Although Murray MacLehose said he would help build the wharf, what Murray MacLehose wanted to build was only a wharf of a few thousand tons.
If he knew that Su Cheng wanted to build a 50,000-ton berthing capacity wharf, he would definitely regret it, because building a 50,000-ton wharf would cost at least tens of millions of Hong Kong dollars at this time, and the Hong Kong government's finances would not approve this money so easily.
What he wanted was for the government to come forward and find someone to do it, and he would pay for it.
Tens of millions of Hong Kong dollars is not much, and it is a small matter for him. There is no need to make it difficult for Murray MacLehose, and maintaining a good relationship with Murray MacLehose is the most important thing.
After the wharf construction location is determined, the wharf and oil storage warehouse can be built at the same time.
The scale of the wharf that Su Cheng wants to build does not need to be too large. It only needs to be able to dock two oil tankers at the same time, so as long as the construction team is strong enough, it can be completed within two months.
After the inspection, it was already evening, and everyone took the car back to the city center again.
Whether it is the refinery on Lamma Island or the refinery in Singapore, they have already started building crude oil storage tanks.
Regarding why so many large-capacity oil storage tanks were being built, Factory Director Zhou also asked Su Cheng, and Su Cheng only told him that the refinery would be carrying out large-scale refining next, so it needed to store enough crude oil.
Before the oil crisis arrives, Su Cheng will naturally not tell them the real reason.
After taking everyone to a restaurant in the city for dinner, Su Cheng returned to the villa, and it was already ten o'clock in the evening.
Next, he only needs to wait for the news.
