Chapter 318: Attack Halfway Across the River

Louis left again, but this visit made Clayton start to ponder. As a commander, he had to think about when to take the initiative to attack.

While he was thinking, a small episode happened among the warriors he led - although Clayton had previously stated the key to resisting illusions, several dwarf warriors were still attacked by Edwards' illusions.

These dwarves claimed that they saw beautiful women without clothes waving at them outside the window, and there was also the aroma of food.

They swore solemnly and persuaded some people who were not originally affected by the illusion. Then these people, because of emotional flaws, also fell into the illusion of the black wizard one after another.

Seeing a group of people lying by the window looking out at a woman who did not exist at all, Clayton had to intervene.

The tall werewolf walked at the back of the battle line with an axe in his hand. He separated the crowd, caught all the guys who shook the morale of the army and beheaded them, piled their bodies in the back, and gave a few whips to all the guys who were around to listen to the dwarves talk about their illusions. This cruel action immediately stopped the spread of unrighteous spirit.

Compared with their resentment, Clayton was also indignant.

The werewolf pointed his whip at several bewitched farmers who were still regretful because the beautiful scenery described by the dwarf was interrupted: "I really don't understand, the dwarves think that beautiful women can make you plains people restless, what? Are you now interested in women with beards?"

His reminder was very timely, and the regrets on the faces of the farmers disappeared immediately.

"Now think about things that will make you regret painfully! Those who have always lived happily can come to me, and I will create some painful memories for you now!"

The kind proposal to help was rejected. Wherever Clayton passed, the soldiers shook their heads and stuck to the walls, making him look majestic.

When this matter was resolved, Clayton also realized that time was not actually on the side of the defenders.

He stood at the window and looked out.

Edwards, half man, half snake, still stood at the end of the street. He grabbed one of Chude Osmar's arms and hung the captive high with his own hands. The rest of the citizens of this side surrounded him, looking at Clayton with expressionless faces.

There seemed to be only one thought in these many bodies, otherwise they would not be so unified.

In front of them, there were many naked people struggling on the ground, and more blood-red monsters crawled out of their bodies. They were the creatures that were attacking now. After they crawled out, they headed towards the castle, leaving human skins in the original place.

He couldn't help but sigh: "What an evil practice."

Those monsters didn't look like they could get back in after crawling out of the human body. Edwards's behavior was no different from killing people.

"That ceremony looks strange, but it feels like a black mass to me, or perhaps a variant of a black mass." Donna was also looking at the situation outside the window.

Clayton looked at her with a complicated expression, but still didn't mention what a lady shouldn't look at.

Clara climbed up from Donna's back. She had two more arms, which made her more flexible than before. She didn't have to worry about scratching clothes when crawling on people. She climbed on top of Donna's head, then bent her spider legs and lay down comfortably on her beautiful black hair - if that counts as lying down.

To use an impolite metaphor - she now looked like an old hen hatching eggs.

"That guy makes Clara feel uncomfortable, and Clara wants to kill him." Clara pointed her finger at Edwards and said - like a hen flapping its wings.

Clayton said perfunctorily: "Very good, it seems that our goals are the same."

"Then Clayton should go with Clara to kill him."

Clayton did not refute or agree, he just stepped back a few steps from the window and got out of Edwards' sight.

Now might really be a good time to attack. Edwards didn't know how he got so many monsters out, but although there were many of them, their strength was not much stronger than normal wild boars, and it was difficult to attack the army even in groups.

Edwards may not understand military affairs, but he can see that these strange animals are not as powerful as the original evil creatures.

Then it is doubtful that he is still sending these little monsters to attack the castle.

Clayton looked at the position of the battle line. The bodies of those blood-red little monsters had been piled high in front of the obstacles, just like adding bricks and tiles to their own fortifications.

But he didn't believe this was a good thing, so he commanded the army to change again. The dwarf spearmen in the back row exchanged their weapons with the Dinnon swordsmen, and then took over the class of the spearmen in the front row.

The soldiers in the first three rows overturned the bunkers built by corpses in the front, and then advanced forward against the impact of many blood-red monsters.

The second row of Dinnon spearmen raised their weapons and stepped forward. The shining spears in a row forced the leaping monsters to retreat, while the dwarf swordsmen were in the first row. They were arranged in front of the spearmen. Because of the characteristics of their race, the height of the dwarves was under the spears, which could help their colleagues in the Dinnon to resist the monsters that drilled in from under the spear formation.

But the third row was composed of the first row of peasant swordsmen, responsible for dealing with those monsters that managed to break through the defenses of the first two rows.

This formation was more than enough to deal with the beasts' minds, but the changes in the formation also increased the number of flaws. After losing their cover, the soldiers in the first row were quickly pounced on by these monsters, and their bodies were torn to pieces.

Seeing this, Clayton did not order to stop, but asked the following people to fill the gaps in this row, and then stepped over the wreckage together.

When everyone walked forward ten yards, the front line left the remains of the evil creatures and a large number of monster trunks behind. Clayton pulled a soldier from the side and gave a few instructions, and then the soldier left and found a few familiar people to start cleaning up the bodies.

The new enemy was taken particularly seriously, and the soldiers threw most of the bodies of these red monsters out through the window.

Clayton only asked them to keep a small part for research, and sent someone else to send some bodies to the second and third floors. The remaining bodies were chopped up and piled together, and a team of ten people was guarding them.

"They separated the bodies of the evil spirits." Edwards said, his body did not move, and his head turned directly to the back. "Pili, your tactics failed."

"It's been a long time since the appearance of the world. Maybe they know the evil spirits." The second wizard and the new commander of this country scratched his head in distress: "In fact, I am better at cavalry combat, but I have no experience in siege. And our warriors are not as good as them."

Only those who are seriously affected by Edwards's demonic power can become civilians of this country. However, the power of the devil will corrupt the secret of the blade. Therefore, when the war comes, Edwards wants to call on the civilians of this country as soldiers, but the effect is not satisfactory.

Their physical fitness is not as good as the rebels.

"It doesn't matter. I don't expect you to achieve anything." The black wizard said proudly.

The wizard Pileg, who was temporarily allowed to take back his wisdom, bowed to his master, and then looked at the castle with interest.

Edwards waved his hand, and another finger on the fate monkey's claw was ignited. Chude Osmar had no fingers on his right hand. Blood wet his pants and shoes, and even dripped down, forming a small pool of blood.

Blood loss and disability did not make Chude Osmar succumb. He looked at Edwards sarcastically: "I thought you wanted to be more independent."

"You should remember your position. I will use you as I want." Edwards told his captive with a smile. "Well, although they piled the bodies of the evil spirits separately and the number we provided was not enough, this is your chance to play a role."

He narrowed his eyes and spread his palms in the direction of the castle, as if everything fell into his hands.

"Pay attention to our sacrifice, Pan!"

The body of the blood-red monster began to melt into plasma.

As soon as this abnormality occurred, Clayton was notified.

Handling liquids is not as convenient as handling solids. Although there is not much plasma in the corridor, it has been boiling. Donna and Clara have no experience in this and cannot handle them.

Clayton immediately sent someone to inform others on the upper level of this matter. At this time, the attacking red monster seemed to have been exhausted, and no new support came. The soldiers in the front row were relieved.

Soon, Louis identified the type of this monster.

"This is an evil spirit." The dwarf who brought the news imitated the disgusted tone of the priest. "People who have lost all virtues may turn into this kind of monster after death. Evil spirits, demons, and devils, although these three kinds of dirty things are different, they are always inseparable. You have to be careful, Edwards may intend to summon something with these corpses."

"I think this 'maybe' can be deleted." Clayton said.

He walked to the window again to watch, but at this moment Edwards had stopped the ceremony.

The civilians of this country are gathering, they are rearranging their weapons and armor, giving people a bad feeling.

Clayton thought about it and waved to the farmers on the side.

"Come on, a few people, lead the horses, and go out for a walk with me."

So they pulled out the horses hiding in the restaurant, clamped some ropes and javelins on the side of the saddle, and then opened the gates, and a dozen cavalrymen rode out of the castle together.
