In July of 2020, I wrote my first novel, 300 yuan per book, and didn't make much money. I wrote 1 million words for love.

At the beginning, I planned a Star Wars-type protagonist who used the Force and lightsaber. He ran from Star Wars to the DC universe, and then accidentally got the Joker's laughing gas, and then began his story.

This is the original appearance of this book. As a result, I wrote half of it, planned for a long time, and was about to publish the book. It was about when, in 22 years, and then one day I saw a book exactly the same as my plan in the recommendation position.

I couldn't believe that there was such a coincidence in the world! ! !

I was so dumbfounded. The protagonist of the Force Warrior was poisoned by the Joker, and then went to find the scarecrow. The early plots were completely the same, exactly the same.

What's more, we both started with Batman's comic Batman Dark Victory, and we also copied the same line from the comic, which is Catwoman's line about Gotham being hot. The plot is similar, the character of the protagonist is similar, the beginning is similar, and the lines are exactly the same.

No fool would believe that I didn't plagiarize!

Oh, by the way, that book has been abandoned. I was so upset that I went crazy in the comment section.

I was so upset that I tore up the manuscript. I still have two pieces of the outline in my drawer.

Then I didn't plan to continue writing, but I started again after a lot of twists and turns.

Then the second time I designed Killer Croc as the protagonist. You can see that Killer Croc had a lot of scenes in the early stage, but it was actually the sequelae of Killer Croc being the protagonist.

I originally planned to prepare some drafts and then show the script to the editor to see if it could be approved, but as I was writing, I felt something was wrong.

Since my protagonist is Killer Croc, the story takes place in Gotham. However, Batman can do what the protagonist can do, and Batman can do what the protagonist cannot do.

Then what is the use of you as the protagonist? ? ?

You might as well choose a monitor as the protagonist, at least he can monitor Batman's ass and chin in all directions. Otherwise, all the work will be done by Batman, and you, the protagonist, will be a pendant on Batman's thigh.

In the 80-year history of American comics, the character of Batman has achieved perfection in problem-solving ability. He only has weaknesses in character, but not in ability. He is a mortal with the will of God. As a fan, it is impossible for the author to create an original protagonist who can compete with the character of Batman.

I gradually realized that once the complete Batman appears in the novel, it is an absolute destruction of all the plots of the novel, because he is too strong and dominates the protagonist. No matter how awesome the protagonist is in the setting, he can only become a pendant when he sees the complete Batman.

After realizing this problem, I started to study how other American comics of the same type on Qidian handled Batman, the king of cheats.

Later I found that before me, Qidian had three main schools of thought on how to deal with Batman.

The first type, the representative work is Sister Rope's opening guide Batman. Can you directly set Batman as a teenager, or the rookie Batman of Earth 1, and avoid the problem that Batman is too strong and can help the protagonist solve all difficulties from the setting, so that the story can go on.

The second type, the representative work is Tuanzi's American comic Deathstroke, which directly makes Batman disappear, and then lets the protagonist do everything Batman does. Batman is tripped up by something, so he can't appear in the story, and can only become a background board like the Taoist Gu in the martial arts novel. Everyone says that Batman exists, but no one has ever really seen Batman.

The third type is to directly be hostile to Batman. This writing method has both good and bad results, and there is no representative work.

So the situation I faced at the time was that I had to choose one of these three ways of handling.

But I thought about it and I always wanted to present a complete and terrible Batman in my book. He must be extremely dangerous to the enemies, just like Batman in the Arkham animated film series. Batman fought against the entire Suicide Squad alone. In the eyes of everyone in the Suicide Squad, Batman was like a ghost. His teammates fell one by one, and five or six superpowered people couldn't even touch a bat hair.

So I tried to come up with the fourth method, but no matter how I modified it, I would find that no matter what I did, as long as Batman appeared in the plot, my protagonist would immediately be eclipsed. This was completely beyond my control as an author. It was this perfect character that was destroying my story.

I felt like I was fighting with Batman, one trying desperately to limit his ability, and the other trying desperately to show his strength, so I was finally forced into a panic. Since Batman can do all the work of my protagonist, aren't you very good at snatching it? I'll just treat you as the protagonist.

This was originally just a rant, but I thought about it carefully and found that it was indeed possible!

So this book was born.

When I was planning this character, I deliberately wanted to integrate a part of myself into the core of the character Batman.

In fact, for me personally, what resonates most with the character Batman?

It's fear.

I was born in 1999. During the global financial crisis in 2008, I happened to be in a state of knowing a little but not quite understanding.

Then my father worked for the Germans in a foreign-funded enterprise. At that time, my father was also under a lot of pressure because his colleagues were constantly being laid off.

The story that impressed me most was a story my father told me about a middle-aged employee who was laid off with a mortgage and a car loan, and had a heart attack in the company and was taken to the hospital.

This left a shadow on me, so I have always been looking forward to the feeling of Batman who always has a plan, as if he can handle everything with ease and in control.

In particular, you know that in the comics, Batman actually deployed bombs on every major building in Gotham, so that he can activate his backup plan wherever he goes.

Batman is very good at protecting everything he wants to protect, and this is what I desire most, so the character Chen Tao was born. He also has a plan like Batman, which is also what I hope to do most in my heart in reality:

Always be able to deal with the worst situation.

Before the financial crisis broke out, who knew that he would be laid off?

This fear took root when I was a child, and gradually became more profound when I became an adult.

Although I know that I have a main job now, my reason knows that I should not be afraid of the sky suddenly falling, but you know that things like emotions and sensibility cannot be controlled by reason at all.

So I started writing novels. Even after I failed once, I still tried to write.

I think I need another financial support besides my main job.

For me, deep in my heart, emotionally, I always feel that society is a terrifying dark forest. Even after many years, I still recall the middle-aged employee who had a heart attack due to layoffs described by my father.

Of course, my father was also under a lot of pressure at that time, and he was also on the verge of being laid off at any time.

Although I know that this idea may not be right, this is the kind of emotional thinking anchor.
