Wizard: I have an inventory
Chapter 11 Leaving the Team
On a sunny morning, Ryan and his friend Demps were gathering in the main hall of the Wizard Academy, preparing to receive a new mission.
Surrounded by wizards from other teams, they were discussing their own adventures and challenges. Ryan always liked this kind of atmosphere, and his heart was full of expectations.
"This mission is to go to the wilderness to clean up the stone lizard's nest," Demps whispered while sorting out his spellbook. "It is said that there are a lot of stone lizards there, which affects the surrounding ecology."
"No problem, we just need to be careful," Ryan responded. He knew that with the strength of their team, they should be able to cope with this task.
After nearly two months of doing tasks together, Ryan has accumulated a lot of combat experience and has accumulated 36 magic stones, so he plans to leave the team in a month at most.
The other members of the team also gradually gathered together: Witch Alice and Knight Carl. The four worked together, packed up their equipment, and walked towards the mission release hall of the academy.
In the mission hall, the administrator who received the task gave them a detailed introduction to the stone lizards. The stone lizards are huge and have strong defense, but their IQ is relatively low and they usually do not attack humans. After hearing this, the team members became more confident and prepared to set off.
They walked out of the academy and set foot on the road to the wilderness. Along the way, the sun shone on the earth, and the birds sang happily on the treetops, as if to bid farewell to their adventure.
After a period of marching, the team finally arrived at the stone lizard's nest. The outside of the nest was overgrown with weeds, and the ground was scattered with claw marks left by the stone lizards, exuding a dangerous atmosphere. Ryan and his partners observed around the nest and prepared to formulate an attack plan.
"Carl is responsible for diverting attention, and the others will take the opportunity to attack from the side," Demps suggested. They quickly discussed the tactics and entered the nest.
As soon as they entered the nest, the temperature around them suddenly rose, and a strange smell filled the air. The nest was pitch black, with only a few faint lights illuminating the front. Just as they went deep into the nest, suddenly, a vibration came, and the four looked at each other, secretly alert in their hearts.
"What is this?" Alice whispered nervously.
As the vibration intensified, a low roar suddenly came from the depths of the nest, as if it was the roar of some giant beast. Ryan's heartbeat accelerated, and several people held their breath, ready to meet the unknown challenge.
As they slowly walked towards the source of the sound, the scene in front of them shocked them - a huge two-headed lizard was entrenched in the center of the nest!
The body of this lizard is much larger than that of an ordinary stone lizard. Each of its two heads has a cunning and fierce look, and the scales around it are shining with a strange luster.
"This is not just an ordinary stone lizard... It's a mutant!" Chris exclaimed.
The team instantly felt unprecedented pressure. Ryan took a deep breath and silently made up his mind: "It's too late to retreat now, we must fight!"
Carl was tall and mighty, holding a giant sword flashing with cold light in his hand. He walked at the front of the team and walked firmly in the direction of the two-headed lizard.
The giant sword reflected a dazzling light under the light spell, as if foreshadowing the upcoming battle. His eyes were as firm as steel, and he was not afraid.
"Come on, attract its attention!" Ryan whispered from behind. He held his wand tightly, ready to cast his spell.
The two heads of the two-headed lizard turned to Carl at the same time, roaring low, and its sharp teeth flashed coldly in the sun.
Carl roared with the blessing of the giant force spell, waving the giant sword, and rushed towards the lizard. His courage inspired his teammates, but in the face of the huge threat, they couldn't help but feel a little nervous.
Ryan took the opportunity to raise his wand and whispered a spell, "Shadow Binding!" He used his magic power, and the black shadow spread rapidly like a vine, trying to bind the two-headed lizard.
The shadow quickly wrapped around the lizard's limbs, but the two-headed lizard's strength was far beyond their expectations. After struggling, the shadow binding only slowed down its movements slightly.
"Don't stop, attack!" Demps shouted, and then unfolded his magic circle, ready to cast energy missiles. One after another, energy missiles flew towards the lizard like meteors, crashing into the lizard's body with a loud bang.
However, the lizard's thick scales actually resisted most of the attacks, and a few missiles only left some tiny sparks, seemingly useless.
"Its defense is too strong!" Ryan felt anxious and was about to cast a stronger spell, but saw the lizard approaching them angrily.
Carl still bravely moved forward, trying to attract more attacks, but facing such a huge creature, he also felt a little powerless.
At this moment, Demps urgently took out a small bag of thorn grass seeds from his arms, his face serious and firm.
"Prepare to retreat! I'm afraid this mission will fail."
He shouted and quickly scattered the thorn grass seeds at the lizard. In an instant, the thorn grass seeds were activated, and sharp thorns quickly grew out of the ground, like countless vines rolling towards the lizard.
The thorny vines tightly wrapped around the lizard's body, and the sharp stings made it scream in pain, trying to break free, but to no avail. Taking this opportunity, Ryan and his teammates immediately turned around and ran towards the exit of the nest.
"Go quickly, don't look back!"
Ryan shouted, knowing that this moment was the best time for them to escape. The four worked together and rushed to the exit of the nest quickly despite the thorns. The two-headed lizard's angry roar came to their ears, as if roaring at its prey that it could not catch up.
Finally, they rushed out of the nest and breathed the fresh air. Although their heartbeats were still accelerating, the hope of life made them smile for the first time in a long time.
Looking back, the shadow of the nest gradually disappeared behind them. Although the two-headed lizard was still struggling, they had successfully escaped and returned to the surface world.
The team returned to the academy silently, and a heavy atmosphere filled the air. Although they successfully escaped the pursuit of the two-headed lizard, they still felt the loss and frustration of not being able to defeat it. Everyone's expression seemed silent and solemn, and the footsteps were particularly clear on the quiet road.
Ryan walked at the end of the team, with a lot of thoughts in his mind. He knew that the failure just now had made everyone's morale low, and he himself felt an invisible pressure that was constantly increasing.
Recalling the battle with the two-headed lizard, he realized that the team's strength was not enough to face a stronger enemy, which made him more determined in his decision.
It was too dangerous to go to the wilderness to do the mission.
"I think... I need to try to make some changes," Ryan finally broke the silence, his tone serious and firm. "I plan to leave the team, make potions, and earn some magic stones."
When the other members of the team heard this, they stopped and looked at each other, inevitably feeling a little reluctant. Carl was the first person to react. He patted Ryan on the shoulder and tried to squeeze out a smile: "This road is a new challenge for you. We support you!"
Alice nodded, with a gleam of understanding in her eyes: "If you think this is the way you want to go, then go. We will wait for you to come back."
Dumps smiled and joked: "However, when you successfully make the tranquilizer, don't forget us old friends, give us a discount!" His laughter broke the heavy atmosphere, everyone couldn't help laughing, and the mood seemed to be a little lighter.
Ryan smiled, they both knew in their hearts that they had taken different paths and it might be difficult for them to reunite in the future.
