A magical journey that begins in Azkaban

Chapter 260 Lupine’s First Lesson

On Thursday afternoon, everyone welcomed Professor Lupine’s first Defense Against the Darkness class. Everyone sat neatly in the classroom, full of curiosity, and couldn't help but guess why the professor hadn't shown up yet.

"Could he be lost?"

"Who are you talking about?"

"That's the new Defense Against the Dark Arts professor, the wizard in rags."

"No way? Can a professor still get lost like a freshman? Is it possible that the curse has come true?"

Just as everyone was speculating, Lu Ping slowly walked in from outside the classroom. He placed a worn suitcase gently on the table, smiled and said, "Good afternoon, everyone."

"Please put all your books back in your bags. Today we will start a practical class. The only thing you need to bring is your wand."

Hearing what the professor said, many people showed surprise in their eyes. In the past two years, most of the Defense Against the Dark Arts classes have been studying textbook knowledge. The only practice was to act with Lockhart or enjoy Snape's torture last year.

Now that they heard that a wand would be used to demonstrate the power of Defense Against the Dark Arts, everyone was looking forward to it and were curious about what new and interesting things the new professor would bring.

"Could it be a bunch of Cornish goblins?" someone joked.

"Phew...the most evil thing known to the wizarding world!" Someone else imitated Lockhart and showed a bright smile.

Everyone looked at Lu Ping with complicated expressions, and many people were still waiting for the new professor to make a fool of himself.

"Okay, come with me."

Roger followed the large group and left the classroom behind Lupin. At the corner of the corridor, they met Peeves who was playing a prank.

The guy was hanging upside down in the air, stuffing chewed gum into the keyhole. It noticed someone coming and quickly turned around to look.

When Peeves discovered that it was Lupin, he sang happily: "Stupid and confused Lupin."

A line of lyrics was sung over and over again, seemingly with some ironic meaning.

Peeves has always been rude and unruly. From time to time, he would play some pranks and embarrass the little wizard in the castle. It and the Weasley twins are habitual pranksters that everyone avoids.

However, it has always respected professors. Unexpectedly, he actually made a face at the new Lupine and showed no respect for other professors.

The students looked curiously at Lupine, who was humiliated by Peeves. He still had a smile on his face, which was hard to understand.

"Peeves, if I were you, I would take the chewing gum out of the keyhole." Lupine's tone was not angry at all, but peaceful with a bit of happiness.

"If you do this, Mr. Filch won't be able to go in and clean."

"Tch..." Faced with Lupine's reminder, Peeves ignored it. It blew a loud whistle and left happily.

Lupine sighed slightly, took out his wand and started teaching for the first time: "This is a very useful spell, please read it carefully."

He said, raising his wand. Shout into the keyhole: "Wadi Wasi."

Compared to the flying and banishing spells, Lupine's spell not only catches the chewing gum in the keyhole, but also allows it to shoot at Peeves like a bullet guided by a wand.

The chewing gum got into Peeves' nostrils, and he cursed all the way up to the ceiling.

"What kind of spell is this?" Daphne asked Rogge curiously when she saw Peeves running away.

"A shooting spell." Rogge broke down the spell and explained: "wad and wisi are two Old English words. Wad means shooting, and wisi means intention."

"Oh, just use the wand to guide the target and shoot towards other objects!"

"Yes, from the analysis of the wording of the spell, it should have been invented by ancient British wizards."

Professor Lupine put away his wand and said, "Let's keep walking."

"Professor, isn't this the training room at the back?" Malfoy asked doubtfully.

"The classroom is downstairs, you'll be there soon."

Lupine's answer made Malfoy even more puzzled. Since Peeves wasn't playing a trick on them by blocking the keyhole, why should he meddle in their own business?

"Our Defense Against the Dark Arts professor is a kind-hearted person." Malfoy lowered his voice and complained to the others.

He led everyone into the second corridor and stopped outside the professor's lounge.

"Please come in." Lupine said and pushed open the door, which was filled with old mismatched chairs.

Snape was sitting there, looking down at Rogge's experimental records. The quill in his hand made a scratching sound on the paper, which echoed in everyone's ears.

Hearing the messy noises at the door, Snape frowned, and his abyss-like terrifying eyes shot straight at him. The little wizards fell silent instantly, many of them lowered their heads uneasily, and some even asked Lupine for help with their eyes.

Snape simply put together the experimental records and walked over with them under his arm, with a sarcastic smile on his lips: "Lupin, maybe no one has warned you that Harry is not suitable to face the things in the cabinet."

"You may not be aware yet, but Hagrid has been removed from his position as professor of the Care of Magical Creatures course."

"What, Hagrid?" Harry shouted very worriedly, attracting Snape's eyes.

Snape paced up to Harry, lowered his head and stared into his eyes. Lupine came over and stood in front of Harry.

"Even if Hagrid is an assistant, he is still a teacher at Hogwarts."

Lupine's words made those who cared about Hagrid relax a lot. It turned out that he was just a teaching assistant and not expelled.

"Huh, just mind your own lessons." Snape looked at the cabinet at the end of the lounge and gave Harry a meaningful look.

Under Harry's puzzled eyes, he left here and closed the door forcefully.

"Now, this way." Lupine called everyone over and walked to the closet at the end.

Apparently, this old closet was where professors kept their robes. However, as Lupine approached it, it suddenly began to shake.

Everyone moved back a few steps in fear, especially Malfoy, who stared at the professor with suspicion. Because of Snape's words, Lupine was as unreliable in his mind as the stupid Hagrid.

As for the cabinet next to him, there must be something dangerous and magical hidden there. The starting spot for the school team was just around the corner, and he didn't want to lose the opportunity because of an accident that hurt him.

"Don't worry!" Lupine said in shock, "There's a Boggart inside."

"Boggart?"

"Boggarts like dark, closed spaces," Lupine said. "They hide in closets, under beds, and in cupboards under sinks."

Hearing what he said, the students became even more frightened. These three kinds of dark places are the shadow of many people’s childhood.

Especially when going to bed at night, many people wonder if there is something hidden under their bed. If you lower your head and look, will something terrible suddenly come out and snatch you away?

"This was moved in yesterday afternoon. I asked the principal to ask the professors not to disturb it. In this way, the third-year students will have some opportunities to practice."

"Now, we have to ask the first question, what is a boggart? What does it look like?"

"No one knows." Hermione raised her hand and answered, "Boggs can shapeshift. He can become the thing that a person fears most in his heart."

"Very good, that's what's scary about them." As soon as Lu Ping finished speaking, there was a loud collision from the wardrobe, which made people's hearts skip a beat.

"It can be said that when Boggs is in the dark, it has no concrete image. It does not know what people outside are most afraid of, and we don't know what it looks like in the dark."

"But when I let it out, it becomes what each of us fears the most."

"This means that we have a huge advantage over Boggarts." Lupine stood in front of the wardrobe and looked at Harry: "Have you found this advantage, Potter?"

Hermione raised her hand again, but Lupine seemed to have no intention of continuing to question her. Harry felt Lupin's encouraging gaze and replied: "I think... there are so many of us, it doesn't know what to become."

"The answer is very good." Lupine praised, "The best way to fight against Boggs is to have more people, so that it will be confused..."

"What a boring thing." Malfoy complained next to Rogge.

Rogge smiled and did not deny his opinion, saying: "At least we know that Boggart has no intelligence and is a thing that can sense people's hearts."

"It looks a lot like your mood gem, doesn't it?"

"It's not like it at all!" Malfoy retorted, "Mine is a gem, and the Boggart in the cabinet dug out the garbage from who knows which sewer. Maybe it even smells disgusting."

"Roger, what are you most afraid of?" Daphne suddenly asked.

"you guess?"
