A Realistic Mount & Blade Game

#5 - About the grudges of the predecessor

Compared to the surprise on Shen Mu's face, Geng Jun's heart was filled with even more shock.

After the two introduced themselves, Geng Jun's face showed a hint of emotion: "I really didn't expect that yesterday, when I saw you for the first time, I thought you were just a lone wolf, but I didn't expect you to be a pride of lions."

His words were humorous and expressed goodwill.

"You flatter me." Shen Mu simply smiled calmly, without explaining too much.

Instead, he looked at the two jackal-men behind Geng Jun, who were about 1.67 meters tall, hunchbacked, and slightly shorter than adult men, with amazed eyes.

These creatures were natives from the Spirit Realm, wanderers scattered on Blue Star due to the collapse of the Spirit Realm's crystal wall system.

As long as you possess the Spirit Realm Mark, you can gain their loyalty and help resist the undead monsters in the darkness.

Seemingly sensing Shen Mu's gaze.

The two jackal-men also raised their ferocious heads, opened their mouths full of sharp teeth, and licked the raised, rusty scimitars with their light pink tongues.

Their appearance was quite ferocious and tyrannical.

And Geng Jun, the master of these two jackal-men, was also observing the 15 Swadian recruits beside Shen Mu.

Seeing these somewhat thin figures wearing gray-black cloth robes, wielding mostly crude, farm implement-like scythes and hand axes, and tattered wooden shields, obviously human, his eyes showed some approval.

Geng Jun sighed: "Brother Shen is lucky to have gained the loyalty of so many Spirit Realm humans."

"Just luck." Shen Mu nodded.

Of course, he couldn't say that these were rewards from the Mount \u0026 Blade system, rather than gifts from the Spirit Realm Mark.

This was fundamentally different from the jackal-men possessed by the guy in front of him named Geng Jun.

"If Diesel Company knew they had offended you last time, Brother Shen, they would probably be regretting it now."

After a brief chat, Geng Jun seemed to have thought of something, and curled his lips sarcastically: "Relying on the large number of people in their company, they dared to snatch other people's Spirit Realm Marks at will. I knew they would eventually kick a steel plate."

"…" Shen Mu frowned slightly at this moment, and the remaining memories from his predecessor's mind涌了出来.

"But Brother Shen, this place is quite far from Diesel Company, and it's considered the edge of their influence. Although there's a grudge, it's still better not to provoke them," Geng Jun comforted him.

"I understand." Shen Mu's expression was a little complicated at this moment because he remembered the reason for his predecessor's suicide.

"Alright, Brother Shen, I won't disturb you from clearing this floor. I'll remind you again to be careful of those unopened apartment rooms. Maybe they all have thick curtains blocking the light."

Geng Jun didn't continue to chat and prepared to leave.

But before leaving, he hesitated for a moment and said: "I'm on the second floor, room 2101 in the elevator lobby. The entire second floor is my territory, so we're neighbors."

"There are a few ordinary families living on the third and fourth floors. We can take care of each other if anything happens."

"As for the fifth floor, there's a weirdo who has 9 halflings and can produce delicious dried mushrooms and dried earthworms. They're more filling than our Blue Star's native food and can also restore stamina, but she has a strange personality, so don't bother her if you don't have to."

"I understand, thank you for the reminder." Shen Mu nodded in thanks.

Then he watched Geng Jun leave.

"Fifth floor, a weirdo who owns halflings and can produce food with special recovery effects."

Shen Mu repeated these words softly.

This was indeed good information.

However, Shen Mu also looked towards the west at this time, his expression slightly gloomy: "Diesel Company."

He murmured the name slowly.

In his mind, a deep-seated hatred from his predecessor's remaining memories permeated his body and mind.

Because the predecessor was really angry, wronged, and incomparably aggrieved!

"The day before yesterday, the predecessor discovered a piece of Spirit Realm Mark in an underground chamber, which seemed to be able to obtain the loyalty of Spirit Realm creatures after activation."

"But unexpectedly, after the predecessor obtained the Spirit Realm Mark, he was discovered by the people of Diesel Company."

"There was no choice but to hand it over."

"After returning, the predecessor was furious and felt aggrieved by his behavior, so he committed suicide by cutting his wrists in a fit of anger."

Shen Mu curled his lips. This was considered the predecessor's last obsession.

He also understood why he felt uneasy when he heard the name Diesel Company.

"Take it slow, I will avenge you." Shen Mu touched his rapidly beating heart, considering it a comfort and a promise.

Grasping the hilt of the longsword inserted in his waist, Shen Mu said in a deep voice: "Alright, lads, now it's time for us to take action."

Turning his head to look at the Swadian recruits beside him who were still vigilant, even after the two jackal-men had left, and still tightly gripped their long-handled scythes.

These were his confidence!

"Action!"

Shen Mu waved his hand and began to lead them to open the doors of each room in the apartment building, scavenging for supplies.

Perhaps it was also thanks to the fact that they were all old-fashioned apartment rooms.

Most of them were ordinary doors.

If they were anti-theft doors in high-end communities, they probably wouldn't be able to open a few even if they tried everything.

Oh, this had a lot to do with Shen Mu's predecessor's ability to pry open this kind of cheap, ordinary anti-theft door with a wire.

'Crack.' Shen Mu used seven or eight seconds of concentration to pry open another anti-theft door.

"Rustle!" But the sound coming from inside wasn't good.

"Situation."

The prepared Swadian recruits raised the long-handled scythes in their hands, aiming the sharp scythe tips at the crack in the door.

Just as Shen Mu grabbed the doorknob, confirming that the sound was coming from behind the door.

He glanced back.

The prepared Swadian recruits nodded to him.

"Go!"

Then Shen Mu directly pulled the doorknob, pulling the entire anti-theft door open outwards.

Then, already slightly bent over, gathering all the strength in his arms, he thrust the long-handled scythe in his hand, stabbing fiercely into the darkness inside the opened door!

'Puff!' The sound of flesh being pierced appeared instantly.

"Gah!"

Then came an angry wail.

At the same time, there was the sound of wings flapping in the darkness, with sharp cries and collisions, and a smell of sulfur.

"Kill!" But the Swadian recruits showed no fear, waving the long-handled scythes they stabbed into the darkness inside.

And using the dim light after opening the door, they also directly charged into this apartment room!

In the narrow space, the cold, shimmering scythe blades swung.

The seemingly crude, broken wooden shields were pushed up again.

And the hand axes in their hands.

In less than two or three minutes, the sound of flapping wings and wailing screams had disappeared.

Then there was a 'whoosh' sound, the sound of drawing back the curtains.

Light shone in from outside the window.

The darkness and gray fog suddenly dissipated, and this apartment, also about thirty square meters, was completely cleared.

When Shen Mu came in, there were already seven or eight corpses lying on the ground, about the size of eight or nine-year-old children, dark red all over, with small black horns the size of little fingers on their heads, and bat wings behind them, baring their teeth as if they were little devils.

The 15 Swadian recruits were standing unharmed in place, only the two recruits in the front had a few bloodstains on their faces.

Or a few unlucky recruits had their clothes torn and blood stained the surrounding cloth robes.

It was considered the loss of this battle, and they were all minor skin injuries.

"Little demons."

Shen Mu recognized the name of this monster.

At the same time, he was a little relieved: "Not other demon-like monsters, just some low-level little demons."

No one knew what kind of undead monsters would be born in the darkness and gray fog.

Some were strong, some were weak.

Some were many, some were few.

But all were extremely dangerous existences for ordinary people!

As the sunlight shone in, the corpses of these little demons that had been killed by the Swadian recruits began to dissipate into black smoke.

As if they were snowdrifts evaporated by an oven.

Whether it was blood, flesh, or bones, they all turned into black smoke and completely vanished.

Only in the corners of the apartment were scattered many thin or thick, but all covered with small teeth marks, dry bones.

Shen Mu was silent.

He knew that these bones were the bones of the Blue Star natives.

There was no need to say more about what happened to them in the past.

"Search and see what supplies there are." Shen Mu withdrew his gaze and waved his hand to order those behind him: "Collect the bedding and wood and send them all back to our room."

"Understood." The Swadian recruits responded and began to rummage through boxes and cabinets.

They were all unowned items, so of course they could take them at will.

But during this time, Shen Mu looked at the dialog box that appeared on his retina.
