American Comics: BOSS Invasion
#111 - Mr. Film
The night is the best cover, hiding blood and ruins from view, replaced by the dazzling neon lights of the cityscape.
New York deserves its reputation as a metropolis, living up to its grand scale and boasting a certain depth.
Like this neighborhood before my eyes, it remains as magnificent as ever, even after experiencing two near-world-ending crises.
This place seems like a different world from the ruins just a block away, like the prosperous city and the garbage mountain outside in One Piece.
Oh, I almost forgot, perhaps there's another reason: the boss of this area is named Joseph Harrow.
Of course, Mr. Harrow doesn't like that name. He's proud of his Caucasian heritage, and even as a third-generation immigrant, he's not used to being called by his English name.
People usually call him Mr. Hammerhead!
What outsiders don't know is that he prefers to call himself Ironhead, because the pronunciation is more pleasing to the ear.
You have to say, white people are really carefree. They've already been hit twice, and the broken glass and rubble all over the streets haven't been cleared up yet, but these people are already running out to get drunk like crazy, trying to numb themselves with alcohol, masking their pain or their madness.
Especially the large nightclub in the center of the district, which is packed with people.
It's already bursting at the seams inside, and there's still a long line of carnivorous men and women waiting outside, waiting to enter the hunting grounds, or become prey.
In a luxurious, spacious conference room on the third floor private area, Mr. Hammerhead was already seated in a chair.
He was wearing a well-tailored blue pinstripe suit, a pure black shirt setting off a white tie, and with his unusually square, hammer-like head, he gave people the feeling of a Terminator no matter how you looked at him.
At this moment, Joseph was leaning back in his chair, casually smoking a cigar, gazing at the full moon outside the window.
He liked to look at the moon. In his world, the moon was the only source of light, a symbol of purity.
"You really are a strange person. With a beauty in front of you, you're actually looking at the moon!"
A seductive voice sounded in Joseph's ear, soft with a hint of coquetry.
Joseph lowered his eyes slightly and said emotionlessly, "The moon is pure. It can help me keep a clear head, especially in front of a woman like you."
"Heh heh heh, thank you for the compliment. It's been a long time since I've heard such a straightforward compliment."
Although it was just a light chuckle, hearing it in Joseph's ears was like several women passionately licking his ears.
In a trance, he vaguely felt a giant emerald green python coiling around him, its gaping mouth menacingly suspended above his head, its slender tongue wrapping around his neck, licking and swaying beside his ear.
Joseph suddenly felt a sharp pain, and his slightly dazed eyes cleared up.
His expression was calm, without any signs of anger, he just raised his hand, took a puff of smoke, and said lightly, "Madam, I've told you many times, your seductive magic is ineffective on me, don't waste your energy anymore."
In the shadows behind him, one could vaguely see a woman with a graceful figure. She wore an emerald green evening dress, simple yet gorgeous.
Her entire body, from her hair to her two-inch-long high heels, was all in different shades of green, including her eye shadow and lips. Yet, this monochromatic coordination, combined with her fair and delicate skin, gave people a seductive feeling of a femme fatale.
She was now pinching a slender lady's cigarette, her cherry lips lightly exhaling smoke rings.
"Interesting, just relying on a skull made of iron?"
"And the constant pain day and night!"
Joseph responded lightly, without emphasizing the idea that the material was actually titanium alloy. "Madam Viper, I am very grateful to you for saving my district in the two disasters, but that is not a reason for you to provoke me again and again.
I've already done what you asked me to do. I don't want to be involved in the conflict between the Hand and your Hydra. In fact, this is what I don't understand.
Although the Hand's ninjas are troublesome, they shouldn't need the help of outsiders for the famous Hydra. What... are you plotting?"
"Heh heh!" Madam Viper covered her mouth and chuckled, raising her eyebrows slightly: "You're not simple either. Before I came to New York, I thought only S.H.I.E.L.D. would be able to detect it, but I didn't expect the first to discover my identity to be a gang boss. How about it? Still don't want to tell me?"
"There's nothing to say!" Joseph said lightly: "Whatever you're planning, it's only going to happen once. But I want to remind you that this is New York, not your Madripoor!"
Madam Viper smiled and said, "You really do know something, interesting, interesting."
At this moment, a knock sounded, and a tall Russian man walked in. He first glanced at Madam Viper's incredibly seductive figure, and swallowed saliva almost imperceptibly, before saying, "Harrow, they're almost here!"
"How far away are they?"
"The closest is three blocks away, five minutes at most!"
Joseph nodded: "Arrange for the brothers to greet them, and tell them to be as polite as possible. Tonight's meeting is very important!"
"I understand!" The underling nodded and turned to leave, but Madam Viper called out: "Wait, is there any news from Gao Furen's side?"
"No!" He replied hastily.
Madam Viper chuckled and waved her hand.
The underling turned and left.
"That's not surprising!" Joseph said expressionlessly: "That's the Hand."
Even with Hydra's abilities, it's not a simple matter to deal with such an organization.
That's why she wanted to use the power of other gangs to deal with the Hand this time.
As long as several gangs suppress the Hand, making it unable to support the battle on Madripoor Island, Madam Viper's goal will be achieved.
Of course, if there is an opportunity, she wouldn't mind taking the major gangs of New York into her pocket. However, this idea has faded a lot after meeting the famous Hammerhead Joseph.
If the most impulsive and craziest Hammerhead is so difficult to deal with, let alone the other bosses.
Bang!
With a loud bang, the conference room door was kicked open violently.
A short-haired Asian man of medium stature walked in, followed by two tall and strong subordinates, and a circle of Maggia gang members with nervous expressions and guns in their hands.
Joseph raised his eyebrows: "You're the first to arrive? Martin."
"What? Did you think I wouldn't dare to come?" Martin Li grinned and raised his hand, making a gesture to attack.
"Martin Li? The famous Mister Negative!"
Madam Viper suddenly spoke, and Martin turned his head to look: "You..."
His eyes flickered, and he obviously had some guesses. He looked at Joseph and sneered: "No wonder you're acting out of character, sending out invitations so blatantly, so that's it! Okay, I'll see what kind of tricks you're playing!"
After speaking, he strode over and sat down.
The Maggia gang members were still somewhat vigilant, but Joseph waved his hand and dismissed them.
