American Comics: BOSS Invasion
#1163 - trial
Even Gotham's nights, chaotic as they are, have their limits. A few gunshots now and then go unnoticed; at most, people might grumble in their sleep, cursing the night owls disturbing their dreams.
But an aircraft autocannon was a bit much. Even with the sound suppressed, the 23mm rounds still packed considerable force.
Qishan had barely left when the police, on their night shift, came rushing in.
I swear to God, those bastards have never been this quick before.
Across the street, in a loft, Qishan sat facing Richard Siones, watching the busy scene outside the window.
Despite being beaten up, Siones only had a few scrapes on his face, not appearing too badly hurt.
In reality, his internal organs were throbbing with pain, and two ribs on his left side were already protesting.
Qishan knew his condition but didn't care in the slightest.
"Glad you could sit down. Try some coffee; this household has good taste, the coffee beans are of pure quality!"
"Thanks, but I can't sleep if I drink coffee at night!" Siones refused, his eyes fixed on the liquid metal flowing on the ground, watching it gradually merge into Qishan's silver windbreaker.
Compared to before, the volume of that little thing had obviously increased several times, which made Siones somewhat concerned.
Qishan didn't take it to heart. Treasures from the Infinite Space always had extraordinary qualities. Although the liquid metal was magical, Qishan merely considered it a convenient tool.
Even without devouring anything, the liquid metal was still growing little by little.
Devouring metal was its instinct. Take tonight, for example: it transformed into the aircraft autocannon, and it was also the one that fired the bullets. As soon as the rounds hit the ground, they melted into liquid, activating Pac-Man mode.
It devoured nearby metal, merging with other modules.
The speed was astonishing. Eating bullets was like eating candy; they instantly merged into itself. In the time it took Qishan to say a few words, all the visible metal in the entire building had disappeared.
Leaving behind only a large number of mangled corpses.
Even if the police deployed the most advanced detection tools, they wouldn't find a single weapon.
Richard Siones understood best how this would hinder the investigation.
"Then I'll cut to the chase!" Qishan said with a smile, "Who else are members of the Court of Owls?"
Siones's body stiffened.
Qishan spread his hands. "What's there to hesitate about? No matter how big the rules are, your little life is more important, right? Give me a name, and I'll give you a quick death.
Otherwise, the interrogation process might not be too pleasant!"
Siones took a deep breath. "I'm sorry, I have no idea what you're talking about!"
Qishan chuckled. "You know, the unlucky assassin said the same thing at first. Look, didn't I find you anyway? Be a good sport, my time is also very tight, and I have many more orders to take.
Just tell me a name directly, or should I chat with your sister?"
Siones's expression changed slightly, and he became agitated.
"Stay away from my sister! She has nothing to do with this!"
Qishan nodded. "Of course, I believe that very much, but the contract is still being executed, so I need to do something, right?"
Siones fell silent.
"Alright, it seems the Court of Owls holds a very high place in your heart. Then let's go through the motions!"
Qishan shrugged and lightly flicked his fingers. Several small metal balls appeared on the table with a gurgling sound.
The three small balls collided and merged, gradually stretching and transforming into a hideous metal centipede at a speed visible to the naked eye.
It shook its head and wagged its tail, moving flexibly. Apart from its metallic color, it was no different from a real centipede.
"Usually, I prefer simple and effective methods!"
Qishan reached out, and the centipede nimbly climbed onto his hand, feeling cold to the touch. He knew in his heart that this guy was just a small clone of the liquid metal, but he still felt a bit of a tingling sensation.
Siones's eyes were fixed on it, not daring to blink.
"You may not know, this little guy can transform into any metal machine, like guns, cars, or even tanks, but what I value most is its micro-control characteristics.
And I just need to feed the centipede to you!"
"The human internal organs are very soft. After the centipede enters, it will dig a passage through the esophagus to the cerebellum as soon as possible, and then split into hundreds of small machines there, entering the brain through the blood vessels and inserting into all memory areas at the same time."
Qishan made a stabbing motion, and the centipede in his hand cooperated by instantly splitting into hundreds of tiny centipedes, spreading out like ants.
These two actions alone almost scared Siones to death.
"Wait, wait, wait, your mission is just to avenge the Waynes, isn't it? I can tell you who gave the order to kill them…"
"Mr. Siones, are you a fool?" Qishan squinted. "The philosopher Hugo was already killed in the explosion a week ago. Are you so caught up in the killing game that you haven't woken up, or do you simply not care about the deaths of small people?"
"Already dead? Damn it! No, that's not what I meant, I just…"
"Delaying time is meaningless!" Qishan lowered his head and fiddled with the little centipedes, watching them melt into liquid and then fuse together again to form an extremely sharp dagger.
"You didn't think I noticed the mark you left in the corner, did you?"
Qishan flashed a brilliant smile.
Siones shuddered.
"Alright, it seems I have to do it myself!"
Before the words finished, Siones suddenly jumped up and rushed towards the door, trying to escape, but after only two steps, a mass of metal liquid suddenly emerged from the ground, knocking him down.
The liquid metal transformed into a python, directly wrapping him up like a dumpling and sending him to Qishan's side.
The small dagger in Qishan's hand turned into a sphere again, and he said, "Come on, open your mouth!"
"No! Don't! It's not that I won't say it, it's that I really don't know! Although I am a member of the Court of Owls, I have never seen the faces of other people. Every time we meet, we wear masks, don't… don't…"
A scream rang out, and Siones began to convulse violently. Qishan turned to look out the window.
Oh, it's raining!
