American Comics: BOSS Invasion
#281 - Butterfly and Gerudo
Grodd's sudden appearance surprised Qishan. Since arriving in this dimension, he had been trying to avoid direct contact with the Flash.
It wasn't for any particular reason, just that he didn't want to rashly engage with the Speedsters.
Their team was practically cheating, one who could use the Speed Force to traverse the past and future, changing the timeline as easily as eating candy.
Perhaps because Zoom died directly in the sunlight, the Flash didn't experience that difficulty, thus increasing the difficulty with Grodd.
In the normal plotline, the Flash's away team, although experiencing some hardships, still rescued Wells from Earth-Two.
After a long period of time, Grodd, by chance, captured another Vibe from Earth-Nineteen.
Only then did he lead his army to invade Earth-One.
His goal was simple, the same as on Earth-Two: to occupy the city, kill the humans, and truly complete the Rise of the Planet of the Apes.
But in the current timeline, the Flash and his team had clearly failed.
They had retreated in a disheveled state, and Grodd directly led his army in pursuit.
Because the event happened suddenly, the police department didn't have time to evacuate the crowd.
The sudden appearance of the ape army immediately caused a commotion.
Upon receiving the news, the police department immediately mobilized all nearby patrol officers, establishing a simple defensive line at the head and tail of the approaching army.
In the center of the street was a well-ordered, massive ape army of at least a thousand strong.
On the other side were the slightly disheveled Flash and his three teammates.
Two streaks of lightning flashed, and Kid Flash and Jesse Quick appeared on either side of the Flash.
"What happened?" Kid Flash asked.
"The rescue mission failed. Almost the moment we stepped into Gorilla City, we were captured by Grodd and imprisoned. We racked our brains to find a defensive gap to escape," Julian said, his eyes fixed on the apes in front, his forehead covered in sweat.
"Where's my father?" Jesse asked anxiously.
The Flash was silent for a moment: "I'm sorry, we failed, but don't worry, we won't give up. We will definitely bring Harry back safely."
Kid Flash said: "Guys, I think we should focus our attention on these apes now. They're an entire army, and probably not easy to deal with!"
The four members of the team tightened their faces upon hearing this.
They had already experienced Grodd's difficulty.
The ground trembled as the ape legion, carrying round shields and wearing neat armor, gradually began to charge.
Kid Flash and Jesse Quick exchanged a look, transformed into lightning, and rushed up, with the Flash close behind.
The three transformed into three streaks of lightning, weaving through the gaps in the ape legion, rushing left and right, trying to disrupt their formation.
However, under Grodd's control, the ape legion, with its super speed and strict discipline, was like one person, making it impossible to gain an advantage.
The team changed formation, quickly cutting off and isolating the three.
The huge fists smashed randomly, and in just a few blows, the three were knocked out one after another.
Kid Flash and Jesse Quick rolled on the ground, and Caitlin and Cisco quickly went to help them up.
The taxi parked on the side of the road was also unlucky, encountering the Flash.
As if he had eyes, there was only this one taxi on the whole street, and he just had to crash into it.
With a loud thud, the taxi shook violently. The Flash rolled on the ground, and although he looked pained, he quickly got up.
But the taxi was miserable. The door was dented, the window was broken, and the streamlined body was smashed out of shape.
If the wheels hadn't been firmly attached, it would probably have been speeding in the middle of the road by now.
The leading ape stepped forward with heavy steps, a hint of contempt in his deep voice.
"Your city will fall, Flash! You only have one way to prevent this from happening, and that is to kill me!
But you can never do it, because you are too hypocritical!"
The Flash's face was serious, and he had to admit that what Grodd said was true.
Although he was using his super speed to protect Central City, helping the police fight super-powered criminals, and had defeated many enemies.
He had never killed anyone.
As a superhero, there always had to be some bottom line. Although he couldn't guarantee that he could achieve Batman's no-kill policy, he tried not to hurt anyone.
"If it's really as simple as you say, I'll do the killing!"
A strange voice came from behind Grodd.
* * A slender shadow swayed gently, followed by a skeleton with an afro, wearing a formal suit, and holding a purple cane sword, slowly appearing in their sight.
His speed was not fast, almost walking step by step through the ape camp.
The frenzied apes, the brave beaters who had just overwhelmed Kid Flash and Jesse Quick, and put the S.T.A.R. Labs team out of breath.
At this time, they were like wooden figures, stiff and motionless.
Grodd roared: "What are you doing? Stop him!"
"Ah! I forgot to say! They've all been attacked by me and fallen into a coma!"
Afro Brook slowly walked out of the ape camp, inserting the last section of the sword blade into the scabbard.
Ding!
With a soft sound of metal clashing, a cold light flashed in the skeleton's pupils, and he said in a deep voice: "Bink's Sake Boner's Arrow Notch Slash!"
Swish!
A huge blade of light appeared out of thin air, like a scythe, sweeping across the ape camp.
Pfft!
At the same time, a long cut opened on the lower back of each ape, and blood spurted out like magma.
The apes shuddered and fell down in droves like dominoes.
However, Grodd had brought thousands of ape legion this time, and even if Afro Brook's swordsmanship was beyond imagination, he could only knock down dozens of targets with one move.
Moreover, these apes' combat power should not be underestimated, and their physical strength far exceeds ordinary humans, almost comparable to the humans in the One Piece world.
But even so, the visual effect presented by this move still startled the apes on the periphery.
They instinctively took a dozen steps back, gathered together, held the round shield in their right hands in front of them, and squatted down to minimize the frontal area.
They were actually using a defensive formation to guard against Afro Brook alone.
Grodd glanced at his unconscious subordinates and said coldly: "Who are you?"
"Forgive my rudeness! My name is Brook, just an insignificant Sword Saint, by the way, I'm already dead! I'm currently leading the Hunter Squad, added as an unscheduled enforcer for the Central City Police Department.
You and your subordinate apes have seriously obstructed normal traffic, now surrender and come with me!"
Afro Brook lightly raised the cane in his hand, pointing it at Grodd not far away, a faint smile appeared on the corner of his mouth.
