American Comics: BOSS Invasion
#509 - Electric Man
The police officer drew his gun, pointed the barrel at the ground, and shouted at the strange man, "NYPD! Sir, I need you to take your hands out of the cables now! Whatever you're doing, you've caused panic in the vicinity. Let go of the cables immediately!"
The strange man slowly stood up, electricity surging around him.
The police officer suddenly saw his blue face, immediately raised his gun, and shouted, "Don't move! Hands above your head, get on the ground, right now!"
The strange man retreated in a panic. He instinctively wanted to run away, but as soon as he stepped onto the road, a bus rushed across his path.
He subconsciously reached out, and two bolts of electricity shot out.
The electricity wrapped around the bus like a solid object, and he performed a shoulder throw.
With a crash, the roof caved in.
Broken glass scattered everywhere, and screams startled the strange man.
Everyone was frightened. The crowd that had been watching the excitement scattered and ran.
The plaza quickly descended into chaos.
With the bus lying sideways, the road was blocked to subsequent vehicles. Cars that couldn't slow down in time collided in a chain reaction, creating a pileup in the blink of an eye.
Carlos and Jill were so excited that their faces turned red. They held up their phones, filming without a care, even as the battery levels plummeted.
Qi Shan stood on a low building, able to see the panicked crowd below from a distance, and a smile curled on his lips.
From his perspective, he could see Spider-Man rushing over from not far away.
He turned and softly asked, "Is everything ready?"
"Ready!" a dozen people answered in unison.
Behind them was a large collection of cameras and shooting equipment, the longest lens being more than half a meter long, capable of clearly capturing any corner of the plaza.
This was prepared by Qi Shan in advance. He was confident in Electro; this uproar was unavoidable.
Tomorrow's reports will definitely shock New Yorkers!
Dozens of police cars roared in, directly surrounding Electro.
A large number of police officers formed a cordon, loudly ordering the strange man to surrender.
The strange man awkwardly waved his hand, constantly trying to explain that all of this had nothing to do with him, but the police didn't care what he said, constantly shouting for him to put his hands on his head and get on the ground.
The strange man suddenly felt a surge of anger, and with a violent wave of his arms, an electrical shockwave exploded, simultaneously blasting dozens of police cars away.
The onlookers in the distance felt their legs cramping and subconsciously retreated a good distance.
A helicopter streaked across the sky, its spotlight shining on the strange man.
The police chief said nothing, only used the radio to ask his men to evacuate quickly.
Anyone who can make it in the New York Police Department is a shrewd person.
They know when to step up and when to retreat, without any ambiguity.
The current situation was clearly beyond what the police could handle. Their top priority had shifted from apprehension to evacuating the public.
As for the freak in front of them, Spider-Man would naturally deal with him.
Although the higher-ups didn't have a good impression of Spider-Man, believing that his vigilante work infringed on the authority of the police.
The grassroots police officers and police chiefs actually liked him. Who wouldn't like having an external plug-in who was very capable and occasionally sent credit their way?
Even the police chief himself had been promoted and received a raise thanks to Spider-Man's credit.
The two had cooperated more than once, and although there wasn't much verbal communication, they unexpectedly coordinated well.
They often led their subordinates away quickly, dispersing the crowd to the periphery.
These days, the curiosity of the onlookers is exceptionally strong, especially towards the world of superheroes. Many people are willing to risk their lives to watch the excitement.
The police department is most annoyed by this situation, but they can only bite the bullet and pretend to do something.
This is the job of the police!
Dropping the car on the ground, Spider-Man relaxed and squatted on the roof, waving to the strange man from a distance.
"Hey, buddy!"
The strange man turned around, surprised and delighted, "It's you, Spider-Man! Don't you recognize me?"
He subconsciously took a step forward, and a bolt of electricity spread out along the ground, hitting the steps and disappearing.
Spider-Man's gaze followed the electricity, "Have we met before?"
"You saved me. Once, I was walking down the street and almost got hit by a car. You suddenly appeared and saved me. You said I was your friend. Don't you remember me?"
"Let me think, let me think! Right, you're the guy with the blueprints. What was your name again?"
The strange man seemed a little unhappy, "You actually forgot me? You said I was your eyes and ears, your best friend."
"Let me think, your name is…"
"Max!"
Spider-Man quickly said, "That's right, Max! I remember you being a pretty handsome young man. What happened?"
"I don't even know what happened to me!"
Electro's tone was a little agitated, and electricity constantly emerged from his body, as if small snakes were wandering all over him.
"I feel a force inside me, very strange, very powerful. It makes me extremely angry!"
"Listen, buddy, I know this isn't your fault. You don't want to hurt anyone…"
Before Spider-Man could finish speaking, a gunshot suddenly rang out in his ear.
Electro was hit, his anger erupting, and he directly flung lightning towards the direction the bullet came from.
"No!"
Spider-Man shot out a web, binding Electro's hands, but before he could exert any force, he was smashed away by the opponent's electromagnetic pulse.
Spider-Man flew out twenty or thirty meters like a cannonball, directly smashing a police car into a crumpled mess.
He wasn't hurt, but the web shooter on his hand kept sparking.
"Great! You're going on strike on me too!"
Now is not the time to complain. The bullet directly knocked out Electro's last bit of reason.
He vented his energy wantonly like a mad beast.
Lightning gnawed at the pillars of billboards, and huge signs fell from the sky. Spider-Man quickly shot out a web and dragged a police officer out.
The billboard almost grazed the police officer's heels as it crashed to the ground.
The surrounding people cheered and applauded in unison.
Some people were even shouting Spider-Man's name, their eyes were crazy and eager, as if they were watching a gladiatorial contest in ancient Rome.
Whether it was Spider-Man or Electro, no matter who lived or died, they didn't care. Everyone just wanted to see a wonderful life-or-death battle, preferably with blood and death.
They were using the name of justice to openly vent the violence in their bodies.
Such a scene made Electro even more angry.
