Coaching legend

Chapter 57: Building the Future (Part 1)

The sunshine in June is very bright, the temperature is not very high, but it has a cool feeling.

The entire stadium was empty, except for a young man practicing shooting with a ball. However, his shot was weak, and when he kicked the ball, it was obvious that he had no intention.

This is the training ground of Crumlin United in North Dublin, Ireland, because it is the end of the season. It's empty here.

Although the young man is practicing shooting there, his attention is not here. He is now thinking big things about his future.

Like many geniuses, he showed amazing football talent since he was a child. As a player under the age of 10 back then, he received a reward of 1 pound for every goal he scored, and he received the most bonus after almost every game.

Now seventeen years old, he knew he wanted to go out and make a fortune.

The problem is that he has received invitations from many clubs, including his favorite Liverpool. Liverpool was his favorite club since childhood. Being invited by Liverpool kept him awake almost all night.

But he did not immediately agree to Liverpool. He has been a very rational person since he was a child.

He couldn't ruin his career just for the sake of impulsiveness. Although he is very confident in himself, Liverpool is a Premier League giant with many strikers. If you go by yourself, you will definitely be a substitute. How can you stand out?

But if I want to really reject Liverpool, I feel very reluctant to let it go.

He was really depressed and wanted to choose Liverpool because he was afraid of delaying his career. I feel very uncomfortable wanting to reject Liverpool.

"Robbie, hello."

In the empty training ground, someone called him. He turned around and saw that it was a stranger. He is very young, he seems to be in his thirties, or maybe less than thirty years old. He looked at the person with confusion, because he had never seen this person before.

"Robert David Keane, hello. My name is George Levy, and I am the head coach of Burnley Club in the English League One." George introduced himself with a smile.

Yes, the troubled young man in front of him is Robbie Keane, who is only seventeen years old this year. Robbie Keane's full name is Robert David Keane, but according to European and American habits, it will be simplified to Robbie Keane.

Robbie Keane has been talented and well-known in the local area since he was a child. There are countless scouts paying attention to his performance. Many clubs have already extended invitations to him. Now Robbie Keane is considering accepting that invitation.

"George Levy?" Robbie Keane said the name repeatedly, always feeling very familiar. Suddenly he patted his forehead. "Ah, I understand. You were in a car accident last year..., I'm sorry. Coach Levi, what are you..."

"It doesn't matter." George shook his head. He didn't expect that a car accident would make George famous. Even Robbie Keane has heard his name. "As for why I came here, I think you should know."

Robbie Keane nodded, feeling regretful after asking just now. What can a club head coach do for him?

"Robbie, let me tell you briefly about our club. Our club was the most popular team for promotion last year, and Burnley was at the top of the English League until the thirteenth round. But you also know that I am out of the league. There are some problems. We at Burnley continue to stay in the English League, and our goal this year is very clear, which is to upgrade. Therefore, there are almost no changes in the team’s main players.”

Robbie Keane listened to George's words very carefully, because although many clubs have expressed interest in him. But a head coach came to him personally, and George Levy was the first one in front of him.

This made Robbie Keane feel George's sincerity.

"Robbie, I definitely didn't come to you to add benches to the team. You are the type of striker I need very much, with fast speed, good skills and accurate shooting." After last season and blocking Ljungberg, George I understand that the team still needs a speed forward.

Although Klose has good speed, his technique is still rough so far. Of course, it's much better than when I first came here. Including shooting with his feet, passing, and passing people, he has made great progress, but these are not enough for Klose to stand alone in the front. Especially when counterattacking, it is not very useful.

"Coach Levy, can you guarantee my main position?" Robbie Keane thought for a while and asked George directly.

"What guarantee do you want me to give you?" George asked with a smile. Seeing Robbie Keane's shocked expression, George smiled slightly. "Robbie, my team currently only has three forwards. If you come here and there are only four forwards, I won't lie. One of them is a substitute, and the remaining ones are good at heading the ball and seizing opportunities. Then it’s you.”

Seeing Robbie Keane's straightforward question, George did not hide his views. "I will decide the starting lineup of the three of you based on your status. You three have different characteristics. Of course, even if you are not the absolute main force, it shouldn't be a big problem if you play twenty times in a season."

What George now wants to build is not only a team that can compete in the First Division, but these players also need to compete with him in the Premier League. Ballack, Ljungberg, Klose, Robbie Keane, Kevin Phillips, Steve Finnan, Daniel Morrison, Gary Breen, Matthew Upson, Jask Leinen, as long as George can combine these players, they will be a strong team even in the Premier League.

So George would never make random wishes for Robbie Keane. If he fails to fulfill them, the players will definitely be dissatisfied. George would never do such a thing.

"Robbie, are you willing to go to Burnley and work with me to get promoted to the Premier League?" George finally said very seriously.

Robbie Keane did not speak, thinking for a moment. George did not urge him, after all, this is not an easy thing. Robbie Keane is not like Ballack and Klose at the beginning, one of the rising stars who has attracted attention.

After a moment, Robbie Keane looked up and nodded. "Coach Levy, I am willing to go to Burnley."

"Okay, Robbie. I believe you will not regret your decision today. Next, should I discuss it with Crumlin United?" Hearing Robbie Keane's answer, George was very excited. Robbie Keane definitely has all the conditions needed for an excellent striker, and Burnley's forward strength has greatly increased this year.

Seeing George's excited expression, Robbie Keane was even happier. Being able to play under a coach who appreciates himself, the mood is very happy first.

"Coach Levy, I haven't signed a contract with Crumlin United. I'm just an apprentice of this club." Robbie Keane gave George a happier news.

"No contract?" Isn't this a world-class striker picked up for nothing? Of course, while he was happy, he was also a little helpless about Burnley's current scout system. Evan Sawyer only learned some simple situations, and there were not enough staff to do detailed things. He didn't even find out such an important situation.

This is the helplessness of a small club. It seems that we should talk to Kilby. In the future, if we want to fight in the Premier League, we should improve all departments of the club.

"Robbie, in this case, I will send someone to talk to you about the contract immediately."

…………

"George, Uruguay. Even if there are good players here, the players who can get a work permit will definitely look down on our club, and those who are willing to come to our club will definitely not be able to get a work permit." Evan Sawyer sat on the plane and complained a lot.

"Well, it's just that I didn't give you a holiday. Players can take a holiday, and we are coaches like this. Don't worry, he will definitely get a work permit. And he will definitely be willing to come to our club."
