From Flower Vase to Film Emperor in Hollywood
#433 - Magic Moment
The performance stopped, and the world returned to silence, but this time with a slight difference.
Panting, emotions surging.
Miles, Connor, Lily, no one was an exception, their chests heaving, as if they could clearly feel the surging passion burning in their chests.
But, there was no regret, even less remorse, their eyes闪爍with satisfaction and exhilaration, all looking at Anson, a hubbub of attention focused on him.
The lights, lightly falling on Anson's fingertips, he picked up the guitar again, his slender fingers gently plucking.
Notes, rippling.
But without any other accompaniment, returning to calm, returning to simplicity, a guitar and a voice, that was all, but that was already enough.
"So, let me go."(Note 1)
Just this simple line of song, returning to the original starting point in a simple and unadorned way, sent shivers down Blair's spine.
"I don't want to be your hero, I don't want to be some big shot, I just want to live earnestly like an ordinary person."
The black and white piano keys slowly entered, like spring water falling on pebbles, tinkling.
Anson no longer sang, just hummed softly.
"Mmm... mmm-mmm-mmm..."
Gentle, light, like a lullaby.
The cello and bass strings converged again, long and drawn out, the piano keys dancing lightly and nimbly at the fingertips of the melody, spreading out like smoke and mist, leaving lingering echoes in the air.
At that moment, the world seemed to clear after the rain, and that thin figure running frantically seemed to finally break free from the storm, basking in the sunlight again.
Before their eyes, a golden brilliance, suddenly opening up.
The performance, ended just like that.
Quiet.
There was still no sound in the studio.
From who knows when, the entire studio was crowded with people, the staff of the "Tonight Show" program all came out in full force, even more crazy than during the opening performance of "Wake Me Up"—
Not a single one missing.
The small space was filled with figures, crowded but neatly occupying all the space, but without any chaos, not even a sound, fearing that even a slight movement might disrupt the performance before them.
Packed full, yet silent as the grave.
Even though the performance was over, the excitement and shock in their minds were still surging, their blood boiling, their hearts pounding, deeply immersed and unable to extricate themselves.
This, was not just a song or a performance; it was more like a movie, a story, about pain, about growth, about life, about refusing to give up.
The vivid and lifelike images, like scrolls, unfolded in their minds, forcefully sweeping every listener into it like a storm.
Every soul could feel different emotions, because everyone was unique, everyone had their own stories and their own pain, but in the music, their wounds seemed to be healed.
If Anson was so brave to show his scars and vulnerability, then why should she hide and cover up? She should also be brave to face herself.
A mess, so what?
At least her soul was resilient and tenacious.
Blair didn't speak, just clapped her hands, one after another.
Clap clap clap.
Finally, breaking the silence.
The studio was like Cinderella waiting for midnight to break the magic, the rosy glow of the fairytale kingdom faded, returning to reality.
One after another, gradually, the audience spontaneously stood up—
Offering applause.
Unlike the novelty and shock of the opening, the performance before them brought a baptism of the soul, which was fully released only after the end of the performance, tremors surging from the soles of their feet to the top of their heads, every cell in their body screaming, clapping their hands was the only way to vent.
If they didn't do this, they themselves might not be able to withstand the emotional impact.
So, the whole audience stood up, applause thundering.
Blair turned to look at Karen, the two exchanged a look, but neither of them spoke, showing each other a knowing smile at their disheveled state, and then both looked at Anson, the applause growing more and more intense.
Clap clap clap!
The whole audience, roaring.
Witnessing this scene, Connor could no longer control himself and turned his back, bowing his head and constantly wiping his eyes with his hands, trying his best to control himself but his shoulders still couldn't help but tremble slightly.
"Ah, so this is the end."
During the performance, Connor was 100% focused, all emotions, all surges were injected into the performance, never letting those fluctuations affect his performance, this was the attitude of a true professional; but, at the end of the performance, those surging, those burning emotions came like a tide.
Easily submerging him, defeating him.
Connor was so helpless and so fragile, but he was not sad or regretful, he liked today's stage, and was grateful to be a part of it, even if his music dream ended today, he had no regrets, he could turn around and leave with dignity.
But... but...
The tears still wouldn't stop.
Lily tried to comfort Connor, but found that her eyes were also red, thousands of words just stuck in her throat, completely choked.
She didn't want it to end, why did it have to end, she just wanted to keep running like this, even if the darkness was long and heavy, she still wanted to keep running.
Steadfastly believing that at the end of the tunnel, she would eventually be able to chase a ray of dawn, even if it was just a vague glimmer of hope, she still believed that she could make her life different.
She, still wanted to keep running.
Turning her head, Lily saw Miles staring at the heatwave in front of him with a face full of shining light, that look was a firmness and confidence that she hadn't seen for a long time.
This made Lily's heart surge as well.
And Anson.
Anson, who slightly raised his chin, straightened his back, looked ahead, kept smiling, although his eyes were slightly red and slightly embarrassed, he still didn't avoid himself or hide, showing a dignified posture, facing the eyes and scrutiny in front of him, showing his true self.
The lights of the TV program studio, lightly falling on his shoulders and cheeks, outlined the stubbornness and vigor of youth, making the surging of the whole audience become a foil, grandly outlining a magnificent picture, from inside the music to outside the music, breaking the fourth wall, awakening the enthusiasm in the bones.
Then, detonating the whole audience.
In a trance, Lily was stunned.
Clap, clap clap clap.
Applause, venting down in the form of a tsunami, as if Mary Poppins was casting a spell, everything in sight was wrapped in a layer of shimmering light, the world was a colorful scene.
Who could have imagined that the "Tonight Show" studio would be completely reduced to a concert venue, without cheers or whistles, just the purest and simplest applause, making today's recording a moment to be remembered in history.
