From Flower Vase to Film Emperor in Hollywood
#647 - Get your mind right
The interior decoration of the Malibu villa was complete, but the courtyard outside was not.
Charles-Wood planned to plant different evergreen trees in the front and back yards to create a leisurely landscape in the style of a garden; however, the trees could not be chosen casually, and needed special selection. Charles personally went to the south of France to select tree species for his youngest son.
For ordinary people, trees are just trees; but for truly wealthy families, these inconspicuous details often represent knowledge and culture, and have more meaning.
Obviously, this was the focus of Charles's work, and he was ready to show off his skills, after all, this was the first real estate his youngest son had purchased with his own ability.
Nevertheless, the interior was ready.
Using beige, light gray, dark blue and other colors as the keynote, a cool-toned decoration style was created. Everything seemed low-key and clean. When the sunlight facing the Pacific Ocean sprinkled down, the entire space presented a scene of ethereal tranquility, naturally allowing the restless mood to slowly settle.
In fact, interior design was not Charles's specialty. Charles's real expertise was in furnishings, matching, and landscaping, that is, the accessories after the decoration was completed.
Table lamps. Vases. Oil paintings.
And so on.
Charles continued the overall interior design style, mainly in light colors, including the choice of oil paintings which also appeared retro and low-key, but he did not focus on modernist paintings. Instead, he slightly broke the decoration style with classical oil paintings to play the role of the finishing touch, brightening the space.
Thus.
A painting from Degas became the heart of the entire living room.
Of course, it was not one of Degas's famous paintings, but particularly low-key and restrained. Anyway, Edgar had been in and out of the villa several times without seeing anything special about it; but unexpectedly, it caught Noah's attention.
At a glance, Noah could see Charles's careful arrangement.
Edgar looked at Anson with a speechless expression, "Were you even listening to me?"
Anson showed a smile, "Captain, I believe in your judgment. You don't need to tell me the ins and outs, just tell me what to do. Generally speaking, those explanations are to make the actors cooperate with the plan, but I am already 100% cooperating, so there is no need for that."
Edgar shook his head gently, "It was indeed like this before, but now we are gradually becoming familiar with each other, and our cooperation has also gotten on track, so it seems that there is no such need; but I can't take your trust for granted, otherwise we will become lazy and slack off, and the cooperative relationship will have problems."
"What's more, those explanations are because I need to hear your opinion. You are always able to bring different perspectives."
This was another way of interpreting it.
Anson found it a bit interesting, slightly raised his chin and pondered for a while, then didn't say much, and directly responded with practical action.
"There's no need to worry."
Edgar, "What?"
Anson, "I mean, there's no need to worry about the success or failure of one or two works."
"I say this not because Leonardo's superstar status remains unshaken after being besieged, nor because Steven and Tom's works have lower-than-expected box office, but because all of this is normal."
"As an actor, who hasn't acted in a few bad movies?"
Edgar tried to refute, but the words came to his lips, but he swallowed them back down —
Actually, there was some truth to it.
Indeed, actors all hope that all of their works are classics; but in reality, it is often impossible, because actors are only a part of the many links in a movie, and the part they can decide is really limited.
Indeed, sometimes, the success or failure of a movie is directly linked to the actors; but more often, the success or failure of a movie has nothing to do with the actors.
Therefore, if a movie is successful, don't overemphasize the importance of the actors; similarly, if a movie fails, don't overemphasize the role of the actors.
"Moreover, the success of a role and the success of a movie are two different things."
"What I mean is, there's no need to be too obsessed with the success or failure of the movie box office."
"Your current worry largely stems from your inner expectations. Like those media, you also expect 'Catch Me If You Can' to explode in word-of-mouth and box office, and believe that the movie has this ability."
"But."
"Keep a calm mind, after all, the success of 'Spider-Man' has already far exceeded expectations, right?"
Edgar looked at Anson quietly, and the tense strings in his heart relaxed slightly.
This was not the first time Edgar had marveled at Anson's wisdom, and it probably wouldn't be the last time either. The only thing that was the same was that every time it was the same sigh.
Edgar regained his smile, "So, you don't expect the movie to be successful?"
"Of course I expect it." Without a second's hesitation, Anson gave a definite answer, which made Edgar couldn't help but laugh out loud.
Anson, "I hope the movie is successful, and the more successful the better. If 'Catch Me If You Can' can completely explode the box office like 'Spider-Man', believe me, I'll raise both hands and feet in welcome."
"What I mean is, there's no need to lose your composure because of the burden of results."
"Even if I lose my composure, you as an agent should control yourself."
Edgar chuckled, "I'm very sorry, I've disappointed you."
Anson waved his hand, "It's okay, don't do it again."
Edgar: … …
Anson had a serious look on his face, "So, what do we need to do?"
Edgar took a deep breath, "We need to create an image, like the Emmy Awards, seize the opportunity to establish your actor image."
"But it's slightly different."
"This time, 'Catch Me If You Can' is very special. It can fully demonstrate your charm as an actor. The spotlight is completely focused on you. Even Tom Hanks is supporting you, creating a stage exclusively for you. This is something that no other work has been able to do so far."
"So, we need to break the fourth wall, from inside the movie to outside the movie, to fully showcase your charm."
"On the one hand, this is an opportunity to maximize the impact of 'Spider-Man'. Before the box office of 'Catch Me If You Can' is released, we seize the opportunity to reuse the brilliance of the spotlight."
"On the other hand, this is also an opportunity to break the stereotype of 'Spider-Man'. Until now, your student image is deeply imprinted in the public's mind, including this time in 'Catch Me If You Can', which is also a middle school student, but we can't keep performing the same roles. You need to strive for more roles and open up the range of your acting. This promotion is the opportunity."
Ambition, first revealed.
From a movie perspective, the movie and the actors achieve each other and succeed together, which is a win-win situation.
But from the actor's perspective, Edgar hopes to use this work to maximize the benefits for Anson. They have their own little plans.
This also proves once again that the calculations in the arena of fame and fortune are far from simple.
After speaking, Edgar looked at Anson and found that Anson was not prepared to express his opinion. Edgar understood and directly revealed the key point of the plan.
"Styling."
