Game of Thrones: Viserys the Three-Headed Dragon

Chapter 17 People in the Red Castle (I)

"Seven layers of hell, are those damned Free Trade City nobles idle? Why do people always bother with that beggar king?"

After sending Illyrio away, Varys, the chief intelligence officer, was soon summoned to the tea room where the king was resting.

It was really unfortunate today. Varys knew that the king had gone out hunting and got nothing, so it was not a good day to send news, but the king had given an order before he went out, and he must have an explanation when he came back, so he could only send the intelligence.

In the tea room where the king was, there were only three people: King Robert Baratheon, who was sitting and drinking, Barristan Selmy, the captain of the Iron Guard, known as "Barristan the Fearless", who was standing beside him, and Varys, the chief intelligence officer.

The king sat on an oak chair beside the tea table. He was originally very tall and strong, but now he has become obese due to overindulging in food and wine. His fat body is like a small mountain. His unkempt black hair and thick black beard, as well as his sunken dark circles and pale and fat face, make it difficult to recognize the brave and warlike hero in the past. His deep blue eyes are full of impatient resentment.

Barristan is a tall knight, standing upright beside the king, looking strong and elegant. Like other members of the Kingsguard, his armor, cloak and shield are all white, with white silver lines and hooks on the scales. Only the frost on his face and the white hair showing through his helmet show that he is no longer young and has aged. He said nothing.

Varys stood on the other side. He had returned to his usual appearance, with a round and fat bald head, and his body was painted with makeup. He was wearing a comfortable outfit made of fine silk, brightly colored, with a sweet and greasy scent of makeup. He bent slightly, lowered his head, as if he was the one who bore the king's wrath.

But the king was just complaining.

"Find out who it is as soon as possible, this damned group of merchants and nobles." The king took a big sip of wine and exhaled a strong smell of alcohol, "Didn't they say they were getting farther and farther away? Isn't Pentos very close?"

In recent years, the whereabouts of the remnants of the Targaryen have moved from Braavos to Myr, from Myr to Tyrosh, getting farther and farther away from Westeros, and later even to Qohor. The king originally hoped that they would simply run to the Far East, Asshai, or even further, but they just circled around the Free Trade Cities, then went to Volantis and Lys, and this time they went back to Pentos.

As the king moved, alcohol flowed down his thick black beard. He couldn't help but reach out to cover his beard. The alcohol flowed down his hand to his protruding belly and soaked his gorgeous thick clothes. Soon the king felt his bulging belly and threw the wine glass aside in anger: "Damn it, seven layers of hell!" No one knew who he was scolding.

Before Varys and Barristan could say anything, the king covered his face with melancholy and waved at them: "Get out!"

Varys and Barristan were not surprised.

The king was drunk.

"Yes, Your Majesty." Varys nodded, then nodded to the captain of the iron guard next to him, and humbly walked towards the door with small steps.

Barristan stared at Varys's slow pace until he left, then he said, "Your Majesty."

As the captain of the Kingsguard and personal bodyguard, he inevitably heard many secrets of the king's conspiracy. The sense of responsibility of a knight drove him to make suggestions to the king. The captain of the guard was slightly dissatisfied with the king's private request of Varys to a knight who had lost his honor as a spy, hiding it from the prime minister, and intending to deal with the beggar king and his sister on the other side of the narrow sea when the opportunity arose. He thought it was not honorable. But he also knew that the king kept it secret from the prime minister because he knew that the prime minister would also make suggestions and objections like him.

But before Barristan could say what he wanted to say, the king stretched out a hand, and his palm was suspended in the air: "Let me be quiet for a while, Barristan." The king seemed to be immersed in some kind of sad mood and interrupted Barristan's words. The king was firm. Barristan had to shut up.

Barristan quietly served the king for a while, until the king's snoring sounded from the tea table, he walked to the door and called his fellow guards outside the door: "Call Jaime."

Soon, Jaime Lannister, tall and handsome in white robes, with flowing blond hair and handsome appearance, came outside the door: "You call me, sir."

Barristan nodded: "Yes, you go and ask the queen to take His Majesty back to the bedroom."

"Your Majesty is drunk again?" Jaime is obviously not unfamiliar with such things, "I can't guarantee that the queen will come."

Barristan replied: "Just go, I'll wait for your report here."

Jaime lowered his body to indicate that he accepted the order, and then he straightened his body, straightened his back and took a step to the direction of the queen's bedroom.

When Jaime arrived, the queen was sitting quietly by the window of the bedroom bored. Perhaps she had just finished the banquet to receive the ladies of the royal city. She was dressed in a gorgeous dress, and her beautiful posture made Jaime's eyes light up.

The tournament for the crown prince's naming day is about to be held, and many nobles have come to King's Landing. The king is busy with state affairs, and at this moment he has to go out to personally deal with the problem of wild animals in the royal forest. The matter of receiving nobles on behalf of the royal family naturally falls on the queen.

The current queen of the Seven Kingdoms is Jaime's twin sister, Cersei Lannister. She has the typical golden curly hair and green eyes of the Lannister family, fair skin, slim figure, and curvy figure. Although the experience of giving birth to three children has left traces of time on her, she can still be called one of the most beautiful women in the Seven Kingdoms.

Jaime Lannister is the queen's twin brother, and he can face the queen almost without any hindrance.

The queen picked up the wine glass. The maid serving wine beside her naturally filled it for her. The queen raised the wine glass, looked at her twin brother, and opened her red lips slightly: "You came just in time, come and drink with me."

Jaime's mind was slightly fluctuating, but he did not forget the current occasion. He stopped and stood still with a serious attitude: "Ser Barristan asked me to ask you to take the king back to the palace."

"Heh." Queen Cersei sneered, "The king won't come by himself, and you want me to take him?"

Jaime replied: "The king is drunk."

The queen replied arrogantly: "You let him come by himself." As she said that, she snorted coldly, "If you ask me, the king would rather pretend to be drunk and lie on the ground than climb into my bed."

After the queen finished speaking, the maids serving in the palace lowered their heads. Fortunately, the considerate Sir James helped them out. He coughed lightly and said, "You all go out first. Pretend you didn't hear what the queen said just now."

The maids left the palace one after another as if they had been pardoned.

The queen stood up with a smile, holding the wine glass with her slender white fingers, and approached her twin brother, putting the wine glass and her hand to his mouth.

"Drink it." The queen ordered.

James always obeyed his sister, the queen.

After drinking the wine in the queen's glass, he said, "The king is still waiting for my report."

"Of course." The queen's fingers scraped across his cheek, and her delicate fingertips wiped the wine stains on his lips, "The queen is also waiting for your report."

James' breathing became heavier, and it took him a few breaths to calm down his agitated mood, and he walked out of the queen's palace quickly.

He was in a hurry to report.
