Chapter 101: The Victorious Contender

The challenge progressed quickly. In two days, most of the tribe's warriors had completed their battles. On the third day, the final four matches of the four remaining victors were held.

Everyone in the tribe rushed to watch, young and old, men and women alike. The entire plaza was packed, leaving no space unoccupied. Accompanying this was the buzzing of hushed whispers, like a swarm of bees, and the females, covering their mouths, exchanged comments, eyes narrowed, about the bare-chested males. Intelligent creatures aren't just males being lecherous; the females are just as bad, they just don't have the opportunity to show their true nature.

Today's four contenders included Mauro, a Great Earth Goblin, and the other three were Bear Goblins. Mauro's several battles, earning him a place among the Bear Goblin warriors and making him a dark horse, brightened Allen's eyes. It wasn't that his strength was particularly amazing; a level 6 warrior was still just that, no matter how hard he tried. However, Mauro was good at maximizing his strengths and avoiding weaknesses. He always managed to exploit the Bear Goblins' shortcomings to create opportunities for himself, and he knew when to quit while he was ahead, never being greedy. He also had great perseverance and patience. With so many advantages combined, Allen even felt a bit of regret that he couldn't keep him.

"It seems like this time's champion is basically a lock."

Before the semi-finals and finals even began, Allen was already whispering with Dasan and Axiao, making his own judgment.

"Yeah, even if I were to encounter this guy, I'm afraid I'd suffer a great loss!"

Dasan frowned, imagining in his mind how he would deal with such an opponent.

Axiao and Dajiang, standing beside him, also nodded, agreeing with Allen's judgment, and didn't show any dissatisfaction that the championship was being taken by a Great Earth Goblin. In the wilderness, strength is respected. Since Mauro had earned his victory through his own abilities, no one would have any complaints about it. This was a great advantage of the goblins.

It wasn't that there weren't goblins in the tribe with good patience, standing in place and circling their opponents, waiting for their opponent's stamina to be depleted before launching a counterattack. However, Mauro was quick to adapt when he discovered that his opponent wasn't falling for it, and he would never allow himself to be in a disadvantageous situation. Since the opponent was waiting for an opportunity, Mauro would play a game of exchanging injuries for injuries, actively approaching the opponent and always using his own hard bones and flesh to exchange for the opponent's vital areas such as joints, chest, and neck.

Mauro's skills were too agile. Even if his opponent originally stabbed towards his chest, Mauro would have already moved his vital points away during the weapon's swing, using places like his thighs and shoulders to receive the opponent's moves, and dissipating the force at the moment of impact. And his stabs at the opponent were often sure hits, and when judging the victory based on injuries, he was always the one who prevailed.

The competition conditions in the tribe were too limited to provide effective protection. Therefore, after two days of competition, every participating tribe member was covered in wounds. Fortunately, everyone's recovery ability was good, otherwise, just the time to heal the injuries would have delayed a competition for a long time.

"The victor—Mauro!!"

In the final match of the finals, Mauro indeed took the championship. His opponent, the Bear Goblin Blackhead, lost to Mauro based on the fact that he had three knife wounds in his chest. Of course, Mauro himself paid the price of five club strikes to his back and legs, and laughed to the end.

The battle for 3rd and 4th place was meaningless, and Allen distributed an extra portion of the rewards to the top four, which was regarded as drawing a satisfactory conclusion to this challenge.

When awarding the prize to Mauro, Allen patted him on the shoulder and said, "Keep it up, I have high hopes for you. Maybe you'll be the tribe's fifth level 7 warrior in the future."

"Thank you, Chieftain."

Happily stroking the well-made leather armor, Mauro nodded firmly, giving an affirmative reply.

"I think so too."

"Hahaha, not bad, not bad. With your temperament, you might become one of the tribe's hunting team leaders before long."

Allen's words were not a joke. If his plan went smoothly, a dozen or so Great Earth Goblins would soon be added to the tribe. Even if the 7-8 Great Earth Goblin males were scattered into various hunting teams, they would still have the opportunity to re-establish a hunting team.

According to what Allen learned from Philip, the army configuration in human civilization mostly has squads of less than 10 people, while the scale of tribal hunting teams in the wilderness is actually not large, especially small hunting teams, which are mostly composed of 4-6 people. Therefore, Allen planned to organize the tribe's hunting teams into fixed groups of 5 people, taking turns hunting every day. This would not only create tacit understanding within the hunting teams themselves, but also give the tribe's warriors more time to improve their strength and develop the village.

As for when the entire tribe's warriors need to be mobilized, isn't a small-scale battle actually just a few squads each doing their own thing in a chaotic battle? At least, that's what Allen thought.

"I will definitely work hard!!"

Becoming the leader of a hunting team in the tribe also meant completely gaining a foothold in the Greenwild Tribe and obtaining certain power and status. Therefore, when Mauro heard Allen's words, a look of surprise immediately appeared on his face.

Next, Allen did not immediately select personnel to attack the Great Earth Goblin settlement, but gave the tribe members 2-3 days to heal their injuries. Goblins often couldn't suppress their anger and used vicious moves in order to win a fight. Although Allen, Dasan, and the others were watching from the sidelines, almost everyone had physical injuries.

After everyone's injuries had healed, Allen began to select personnel from among them. Allen had carefully watched every battle in the challenge. In addition to being able to observe the strength of the tribe members up close, Allen also hoped to find tribe members who could be cultivated. For example, Mauro, the Great Earth Goblin, was outstanding in the tribe in terms of both character and ability. At least compared to the other dull-witted guys, he was as conspicuous as a crane standing among chickens.

However, Allen found it difficult to discover Mauro's strengths on weekdays, because Allen would always unconsciously have a sense of discrimination against other goblin species. Perhaps this came from his Bear Goblin pride, or perhaps it came from the natural strength gap between Bear Goblins.

Besides Mauro, Blackhead, the runner-up in this challenge, was also a decent talent in terms of Bear Goblin intelligence and ability.

The three level 7 warriors, Dasan, Axiao, and Dajiang, did not appear in the challenge. The battles and killings were almost entirely among level 6 warriors. In fact, the difference in strength was not obvious. Then, the chips that could determine everyone's final victory were often the tribe members' reactions in battle, formulating reasonable battle plans, and so on.

Blackhead was able to win second place because his brain was smarter than the average Bear Goblin. Although he had a strong physique, he tried to imitate Mauro's tactics when fighting others, using flexible footwork to make his opponents flustered and lose their composure, and then delivering a fatal blow to the opponent.

Although Blackhead's footwork still seemed clumsy when facing the originator, it was already rare for a Bear Goblin to think of learning from others' strengths and putting them into practice.
