Happy Little Scholar

Report approaching 2.5 million words

I took a look at the word count and it is already 248w words. Here is a small report.

The reason why I don't round it up is because 250 is a bit unlucky, and I am superstitious.

Before I start, let me say a few words. If you read books on the web, you can see a line of red words in the middle of the page, which currently shows "518 consecutive days of updates".

This means that since the book was published, no matter how busy I am or what I encounter, there has been no day of interruption in 581 days. After it was put on the shelves, although there are rarely bursts, except for very few cases, I can guarantee two updates a day.

Of course, I don't want to say how hard I am, because there are many authors who are more hardworking than me, but I think this can show an attitude. I take writing books seriously.

Next, let's talk about the book.

First, let's talk about the word count. The Scholar has written nearly 2.5 million words so far. I have an outline and some detailed outlines. The ending has been thought out. It is expected that the word count will be less than 4 million after writing. As for the exact number, I really don’t know. It may be over 300, or nearly 400. It depends on how much plot will be filled in the middle.

Some things have been said before, such as before opening the book, I read some popular books on the list, summarized some elements, and then started the book on impulse until now.

The title of the book was decided after not much consideration. Many people said it was low. It’s low, even the book was written randomly, so it’s nothing to pick a random title.

In addition to the title, there are still many shortcomings in the plot. Looking at the previous part from the current perspective, the shortcomings are obvious.

Some people say that Xiaoyao is shit, there is no Xiaoyao in the whole book, and the good title is wasted. Thank you for praising my good title...

I can’t explain to them that the Xiaoyao they want can’t be written. Xiaoyao is relative. Li Yi wants absolute Xiaoyao. What can Rong Xiaorong do?

Let's change our thinking. Compared with Li Xuan, Li Yi is free and easy, right? Compared with the King of Shu, Li Yi is free and easy, right?

This is my understanding of freedom.

As for the style of the book, some readers may feel that the early and late stages are somewhat different, because in the early stage, there is no style of its own. I deliberately learned the styles of several great masters, but later I may have gone astray. I don't know how it became like this. Now, it is better to call the book "Li Yi's Daily Death"...

I also don't know why, while writing, it even deviates from the historical classification. History? Romance? Martial arts?

I think that you can write whatever you like. As long as the author likes to write and readers like to read, don't worry about these issues. In fact, book friends who can follow up to now should not care about these...

The current style should continue and improve. The next book must be of the same type and style. Although it has not started yet, this should be certain.

This style is not easy to write. Almost every chapter has to be funny. You can't have nothing in your mind. So you have to hang out on Zhihu forums and write jokes. You have to integrate the jokes into the plot, and it doesn't look watery. To be honest, I think it's not easy for me...

As for the subsequent plot, the foreshadowing is obvious enough. Everyone can guess it. What I have to do is to fill the holes. There is no need to dig new holes now. After the holes are filled, it's time to end.

In fact, there are still many things I want to talk to readers about, but if I say too much, it will affect my typing and there is also the suspicion of spoilers. I will stop here.

Finally, there is a digression that I have always wanted to say. This is a novel, this is ancient times, Ruyi is a very, very, very important character, I like her very much, but if it comes to the first female protagonist in the usual sense...well, this sentence will stop here.

So those who say that the female protagonist has no role, and the role of the female protagonist is not as good as that of a maid, you, you are so self-righteous...
