Help! I don't want to NTR the protagonist!

98 96. A dragon's ramblings

With how much he was favoured by the goddess of light, Lucius wouldn't be surprised if the goddess personally intervened when this talent was being formed

But even though Lucius didn't have the [Saint of Light] talent and the subsequent benefits that came with it, it wasn't all bad.

For example the lack of the interference of the [Saint of Light] talent led to things that even Landon didn't have, for example  [Aura of Madness ].

Lucius was sure that Landon didn't have this talent or anything similar to  it.

With this Lucius was placed in a much better mood and finally released the transformation returning back to his classical handsome appearance much to Veronica's pleasure .

Unfortunately, Lucius didn't have time to remain there cuddling as his attention was soon drawn away by something else.

In the location in which the previous magical tree had stood Lucius could  see a strange metallic shine and then walked over to investigate.

Wiping away the ashes of the withered tree, it fully revealed a strange metal hatch.

Now curious Lucius didn't hesitate m up h and tried to open the hatch but after several attempts didn't move the hatch in the slightest, Lucius grew impatient and after wrapping his leg in mana , stamped down on the hatch until…

"Boom!"

Eventually the hatch loosened and was easily blasted off its hinges falling down into the space below.

Lucius looked down the hatch carefully and after seeing that the fall was only a light jump, Lucius didn't think too much and jumped straight down, landing with a thud.

It wasn't long before the curious Veronica also jumped down and landed right next to Lucius.

As soon as she landed, a fireball was quickly formed her hand which quickly illuminated this underground cave allowing Lucius to finally get a proper look at their place.

Lucius looked forwards and the first thing to catch his attention would be the strange platform in the centre.

It was an exquisitely crafted platform with a magnificent roaring dragon head crafted into an overhang that covered the table .

But even with this exquisite sculpture that wasn't what grabbed Lucius attention.

What truly interested him was the strange book laid out in the middle of the table.

Seeing such a sight was a little unsettling.

A perfectly laid out book in the centre of the room. It looked like a trap if Lucius had ever seen it.

But even if it was a trap Lucius didn't want to ignore the knowledge this could represent.

After all, he wasn't the protagonist.

He couldn't get by with pure talent and luck.

His greatest advantage  over the protagonist will always be his knowledge and foresight so he would never say no to a chance to acquire more knowledge and what was more knowledgeable than an  Ancient Dragon.

Besides, even if it didn't contain any major secrets, it wouldn't be a loss if he could just broaden his knowledge about the world.

With his mind settled so after warning Veronica to retreat a few steps, Lucius slowly and cautiously walked over towards the strange dragon table.

Approaching the table, Lucius raised his hand and slowly reached out toward the book.

The second Lucius's hand reached the book's hard leather cover, he quickly pulled his hand back just in case he set off some type of twisted trap mechanism.

Fortunately it seemed like he had been over reacting as after several seconds of waiting, nothing changed or happened allowing Lucius to know that it was at least safe enough to take the book and open it

"Dear future  reader

I am the overlord of Earth, the Ancient Dragon,

Drazalth Elpys Ordem Erlgrad

Seeing as you are reading this, it could only mean that I had failed in my plan of  reincarnation and that I have not only failed but I have died as well

Lucius read  this a little conflicted.

It  wouldn't be accurate  to say that poor old Drazalth failed but instead he was sabotaged by Lucius.

But Lucius' conflicted expression only lasted for a while. After all, if he didn't do it, then the protagonist eventually would. And the book wasn't wrong, Drazalth was dead. The way he died didn't align with his expectations but the destination was still the same, 6ft under.

Thinking like this Lucius tilted his head and continued reading the book

"I am writing this not as a biography nor am I writing this as a way to pass on my knowledge to the future generations.

I write  this because I am not reconciled!

This death was not my fault! It was not planned.

The plan to reincarnate was not my  goal . It was risky, theoretical and deep down in my mind I always had the suspicion it would fail. In truth it was a last ditch attempt.

No, My plan had never been to reincarnate but instead to ascend.

My goal was to take the place of that old tired rock.

My goal was to ascend to the status of the Elemental King of Earth.

And I almost did, after all, how could a mere rock rival, I the Ancient, Earth Dragon.

Even my dominance over the earth element could rival that slow old bastard.

But right as I was about to crush that old bastard.Right as I was about to claim the tile as elemental king... 'it' showed up.

It came and ruined everything!

Why damn it! Why!

Why!

Why!

Why!

Why!

That damn book! Why did it have to show up and ruin everything.

I hate it!

I curse it!

I hate it!

I curse it!

After this, the book continued on quickly devolving into nothing but dragon's mad ramblings for several pages

Lucius read the dragon's mad ramblings with a strange expression on his face.

This old dragon had clearly lost it's mind!

Lucius continued reading but the pages were filled with endless ramblings but just as Lucius was about to close the book for good he suddenly read a stretch of ominous text

'It' will not allow for any mistakes.

'It' will correct all errors

It's will can not be resisted.

It's will can not be stopped
