Hogwarts: I, Tom, am really not Voldemort!
#40 - Chapter 40 Gift
December 24th, Christmas Eve.
As one of the few remaining students on campus, Tom and Harry were together early in the morning preparing Christmas gifts.
“Millia's candies... Aunt Anna's tea set... Cassandra's necklace... Draco's 'Domineering President Deeply in Love'... Hermione's 'Past O.W.L. Exam Mock Practice Collection'... Neville's two-handed sword... Professor Dumbledore's wool socks filled with lubricant... Professor Snape's Potter-brand shampoo... Professor McGonagall's cat teaser, and Professors Flitwick, Pansy, Theodore, Zabini, Ernie, Hannah... How can there be so many...”
Tom didn't realize how many gifts there were until he started packing. Orphans, professors, stargazers, students – adding them all up, there were so many people to give gifts to. He couldn't help but complain to Harry: “Harry, you say we're wizards, right? Then why are we celebrating Christmas? Isn't this heresy?”
Harry didn't respond. Tom looked up and saw him looking aggrieved and hesitant, so he couldn't help but ask: “What's wrong?”
Harry didn't say a word, just lowered his head sadly. Tom thought for a moment and tentatively asked: “Your gift?”
Hearing this, Harry raised his head again, his eyes filled with hope. The Savior's appearance amused Tom: “Didn't you get upset that I didn't mention your gift? Don't be sad, your gift isn't here. Don't worry, I promised to give you a special gift. I always keep my word.”
Hearing Tom's solemn promise, Harry's face immediately lit up with joy.
After comforting the Savior, Tom sorted and packed the gifts, then shouted: “Voldemort, don't be lazy, come and deliver the packages.”
Harry was startled by Tom's words and jumped up, drawing his wand defensively: “Where? Where's Voldemort?”
Harry waited for a long time but didn't see any sign of Voldemort. Just as he was about to ask Tom, he saw him calmly handing the prepared gifts to his owl.
After feeding the owl some food, Tom stroked its feathers and said softly: “Go, Miss Voldemort, I'm counting on you.”
Harry stared blankly at Tom's actions until Voldemort flew out of the window, then he found his voice: “So, the Voldemort you were talking about is this owl?”
“Otherwise, who did you think I was calling?” Tom gave Harry a strange look, then looked proud, “Isn't the name I gave it good? To be honest, it's an honor for that noseless guy that my owl can be called Voldemort.”
“So cold!” Quirrell, by the fireplace in his office, couldn't help but wrap his clothes tighter, feeling that the Voldemort on the back of his head was emitting resentment again for some reason.
In the evening, when Tom and Harry entered the Great Hall together, they found that it had been redecorated.
Garlands of holly and mistletoe hung all over the walls, warm snowflakes fell beautifully from the ceiling, and the towering Christmas tree was covered with various small ornaments. Small icicles and small candles emitted a charming light, adding to the festive atmosphere of the entire hall.
No more than a dozen students remained on campus for Christmas, and students from each house sat at a long table. All the teachers were present except for Professor Quirrell, and the clinking of glasses made for a lively scene.
After Tom pulled Harry to a seat, the table was already filled with sumptuous food. Without saying a word, Tom grabbed a roasted chicken leg and began to gnaw on it.
After eating and drinking his fill, Tom burped contentedly. Seeing Dumbledore preparing to leave his seat, he immediately tugged at Harry, who was still devouring his food: “Stop eating, let's go, I'll take you to get your gift.”
Harry immediately put down the half-eaten sausage, wiped his hands haphazardly on his robes, and quickly followed Tom's footsteps.
“Professor, Professor Dumbledore, wait! And Professors Snape, McGonagall, Flitwick, Sprout, wait for me.”
Tom's urgent shouts echoed loudly in the somewhat empty hall, immediately causing the departing professors to stop in their tracks.
“Tom, is there something wrong?” Dumbledore asked softly, looking at Tom who was jogging over with Harry.
Tom said calmly to Snape: “It's about Lily.”
Snape immediately stopped talking and even gave Dumbledore a look.
After Dumbledore agreed, the group moved to the Headmaster's office.
After the Headmaster's office door closed, Dumbledore signaled that Tom could begin.
“I wonder if you all still remember Sirius Black and Peter Pettigrew?”
Hearing these two names, the expressions of the people around him changed.
Harry looked at the reactions of the people around him strangely. He had heard of these two people in Snape's rumors, and they seemed to be his father's close friends. Now he didn't know why Tom suddenly brought them up, so he didn't dare to speak rashly.
Unfortunately, someone on the scene exploded first. Not knowing what he remembered, Snape's face darkened, and his hatred almost materialized: “That damn dog is still locked up in Azkaban, and Peter died 10 years ago. I don't know what you're trying to do by suddenly bringing him up, Riddle.”
Tom didn't care about Snape's feelings at all, and threw out a big bomb: “What if I told you that Peter didn't die?”
“What!” Everyone present was stunned by Tom's bombshell, and couldn't help but scream. Professor McGonagall even asked Tom: “What's going on? What exactly happened?”
Except for Harry, who was confused, everyone present smelled a hint of conspiracy and eagerly wanted to know the truth.
Tom didn't keep them in suspense and directly stated: “It's very simple. Lily and James's Secret-Keeper was Peter, not Sirius. Peter was the one who betrayed them by joining Voldemort. Peter was also the one who framed Sirius in the end.”
Everyone was so shocked by the secrets Tom revealed that they couldn't digest them for a while. Snape couldn't even maintain his expressionless face. His eyes were spitting fire, and his fists were clenched so tightly that they cracked.
Tom didn't say anything more and just waited for them quietly. After a moment, Professor Sprout asked: “Riddle, where did you learn this? Do you have any evidence?”
“I can't reveal the source of the information. Everyone has their own little secrets. As for evidence, won't everything be clear after we find Peter?”
Seeing that she couldn't get anything out of Tom, Professor Sprout looked at Dumbledore, waiting for his decision.
Dumbledore met Tom's gaze for a few seconds before speaking: “Tom, I believe you. You should know where Peter is, right?”
“Of course, Professor.” Tom gave a definite answer.
Dumbledore made a decisive decision: “Severus, prepare the Veritaserum.”
Snape left quickly, without a second's delay.
Then Dumbledore said to the other three Heads of House: “Minerva, Filius, Pomona, prepare yourselves, we'll go together in a moment.”
Before a few minutes had passed, Snape returned.
Seeing that everyone was present, Tom announced loudly: “Now that everyone's here, let's go. Destination: The Burrow.”
