Hogwarts: I, Tom, am really not Voldemort!

#41 - Chapter 41: Banban and Peter

Ottery St. Catchpole, The Burrow.

The Weasley family was gathered together, a rare occurrence.

Mrs. Weasley had made a huge table of delicious food, Bill and Charlie were loudly discussing curse-breaking and dragons, Percy was sitting quietly at the table, Fred and George were doing magic tricks to amuse Ginny, Ron, for once not the target of their pranks, was happily and furiously devouring food, and even Arthur was cheerfully drinking a few extra glasses.

It was already late, but the Weasley family showed no signs of breaking up, and laughter flowed through the room.

At this joyous moment, the flames in the Burrow's fireplace suddenly turned green and shot up high, and the Weasley family stopped their chatter and stared intently at the fireplace.

"Dumbledore!"

Arthur exclaimed as he watched Dumbledore, the heads of the four houses, Harry, and Tom step out of the flames one after another.

He had intended to exchange a few pleasantries, but seeing the lineup and the serious expressions on everyone's faces, Arthur immediately understood that something big was happening.

So he lowered his voice and asked, "What happened?"

Dumbledore did not answer Arthur, but waved his wand to completely seal off the Burrow.

After ensuring that not even a mouse could escape the house, Dumbledore spoke to Arthur, "Peter is not dead, he is here."

Before the Weasley family could react, Snape impatiently questioned Tom, "Tell me, where exactly is Peter?"

Tom pointed to Ron, "Then you'll have to ask him."

Tom's explanation caused the Weasley family to gasp. Ron, barely suppressing his disgust, confirmed with Tom again, "Are you saying that Scabbers is a man named Peter?"

Tom nodded affirmatively, "Yes, Scabbers is Peter, where is he now?"

Ron ignored Tom's words, completely dazed. Seeing his silly younger brother like this, Percy reacted and quickly led the way for everyone, "Scabbers should be in Ron's room, I'll take you there."

When the group crowded into Ron's room, Scabbers was lying on the bed, sleeping.

The noise in the room woke him from his sleep, and he looked around with his small eyes, only to discover to his horror that he was surrounded by Dumbledore, Snape, McGonagall, Flitwick, and Sprout, with the Weasley family also staring intently at him from a short distance away.

Alarm bells rang in his mind, and the immense fear made him want to escape subconsciously.

Unfortunately, he was facing Dumbledore and the heads of the four houses. Just as he was about to make a move, Scabbers realized that he had been restrained, and the transformation effect of his Animagus form was fading.

What appeared before everyone's eyes was that Scabbers, who was originally a rat, was constantly being stretched and changed, and finally, a short, bald man appeared before them.

Witnessing all of this, Ron was the first to be unable to bear it and ran out of the room to vomit.

And Snape, who held the deepest hatred for him, shouted with unprecedented fury, "Peter Pettigrew!"

Seeing Snape looking as if he wanted to devour him alive, Peter's small body trembled, and he looked at everyone with teary eyes, crying and defending himself:

"No, it wasn't me. It was Sirius, it was him, he betrayed James and Lily, he blew up a street. It was him, it was all him."

However, his Oscar-worthy performance did not move the crowd. His resurrection itself was the biggest problem. Snape couldn't bear it any longer and rushed up to force-feed him Veritaserum.

"Wait!"

Just as Snape took out the Veritaserum, Tom hurriedly stopped him.

Seeing Snape's displeased expression, Tom calmly took out a handheld camera, "Voldemort brand handheld camera, made by Muggles, cheap and easy to use, quality guaranteed. The evidence must be sufficient, so that he can be convicted. Okay, Professor, you continue."

Snape glared at Tom fiercely, then pinched Peter's cheeks and poured the small bottle of Veritaserum directly into his mouth.

Seeing Peter's eyes become dazed, Dumbledore's questioning voice immediately rang out, "What is the truth of what happened that year?"

Peter's tone was erratic, as if he had fallen into a memory, "That year, the Secret-Keeper for James and Lily was not Sirius, but me."

As soon as the words came out, many people in the room covered their mouths, looking incredulous.

"So you were the one who betrayed James and Lily that year?" Dumbledore asked in a deep voice.

"That's right, it was me. Sirius foolishly believed that someone like me wouldn't make people think I was the Secret-Keeper, so he persuaded James and Lily to temporarily change the Secret-Keeper. Unfortunately, they didn't know that I had already joined the Dark Lord at that time."

"Why did you do this? Wasn't James your best friend?" Professor McGonagall snatched Dumbledore's words and questioned this former Gryffindor student with heartache.

"If I didn't join the Dark Lord, what else could I do? The Dark Lord's methods are far beyond your imagination. Yes, James and Sirius were very powerful, they were popular figures from school onwards, but compared to the Dark Lord, they were not enough. I was afraid, the Dark Lord forced me, threatened me, if I refused him, he would kill me."

Peter's voice became trembling, revealing the timidity in his words.

"Heh heh, a brave Gryffindor." Tom, who was holding the camera, couldn't help but chuckle, causing the Gryffindors in the room to glare at him.

Dumbledore had no time to pay attention to Tom and continued to interrogate, "Then what about Sirius?"

Peter changed his previous timidity, and his tone unconsciously carried a fierce edge, "As a party involved, Sirius was naturally clear about who really betrayed James and Lily. He hunted me down, wanting to put me to death. But I really didn't want to die, so I blew up a street, leaving a severed finger to fake my death and escape. Sirius, who stayed at the scene, naturally became the scapegoat and was sent to Azkaban."

Speaking of this, Peter also began to sober up, realizing the content he had just confessed, and the whole person slumped on the ground like mud.

Harry could no longer suppress his anger, pushed aside Flitwick and Sprout who were in front of him, and punched Peter hard in the face.

Tom, having finished enjoying this great show, put away the camera in his hand and said to Peter with a smile, "'Brave' Peter Pettigrew, now that the evidence is complete, Mr. Weasley has already gone to notify the Ministry of Magic. I wonder if you can inspire your Gryffindor courage after you get to Azkaban."
