Chapter 3 What it's like to have a dad who's nearly 0 years apart in age

"Then Kyle, let's go," Dumbledore looked at the time. "We're just in time for breakfast now."

Dumbledore took Kyle and walked all the way to the castle along the elevated stone bridge built between the mountains.

On the way, Kyle tried hard to recall the plots of the movies he had seen in his previous life. According to the normal process, shouldn't the owl be sent to deliver the letter first?

Why did he become the principal who came to the door himself?

Although his situation is somewhat special.

Moreover, what the hell is the Auror of the American wizarding world trying to arrest him?

Kyle said with a belly full of doubts: "Mr. Principal..."

"Just call me Professor." Dumbledore turned his head and winked at Kyle, smiling.

"Good professor." Kyle was kind, and then asked the doubts in his heart, "Why do you say this is all about my father?"

Dumbledore sighed softly, thinking about telling Kyle the truth about his life.

Kyle followed behind Dumbledore, not seeing Dumbledore's changing face.

After thinking for a while, Dumbledore decided to speak.

"Do you know your last name?" Dumbledore stopped and turned to look at Kyle.

"Grindelwald?"

His current name, according to the director of the orphanage where he was at the time, was written on a note attached to his swaddling clothes.

Kyle had absolutely no idea what was wrong with the surname.

This can't blame him, after all, he was not very interested in the series of Harry Potter novels in his previous life, and only watched one Philosopher's Stone, let alone two films in the Fantastic Beasts series.

Therefore, Kyle does not know what the surname Grindelwald means to the European wizarding world.

"Your father's name is Gellert Grindelwald." Dumbledore suddenly fell into memory when he mentioned this name.

Kyle's question pulled Dumbledore back from his memory, "What kind of person is he?"

"Let's talk as we walk." It was still very cold in the Scottish Highlands in February. The cold wind blowing from the mountains in the early morning made Dumbledore shiver.

"Your father, Gellert Grindelwald, was a very complex figure, very idealistic and very talented at the same time."

"I became friends with him in the summer of 1899, and we became acquaintances for the same great purpose."

Kyle: ? ? ?

Summer of 1899?

Kyle took out his ears, trying to confirm whether there was any problem with his hearing.

"But then for some reason we broke up," Dumbledore said with a look of pain on his face, "and after that, Gellert went to the opposite side of the law and started Dark Revolution."

"He carried out reforms outside the law and committed numerous crimes with his followers. Powers spread across America and Europe..."

"He is also considered one of the most powerful dark wizards of all time."

Kyle opened his mouth and wanted to speak but didn't know where to start complaining.

His father, a hundred-year-old old man?

Well, in fact, the age gap... is not a big problem.

The biggest problem is that his father turned out to be a...

The word terrorist was an insult to his father, who had stirred the tide in Europe.

Kyle couldn't find any words to describe it for a while.

The world's worst criminal?

stop! His dad wasn't Monkey D. Long, and he didn't want to be One Piece.

Witch World Shura?

stop! His father wasn't Madara Uchiha, and Dumbledore wasn't Senju Hashirama either.

Kyle took back the thoughts of gradually releasing himself,

"So, that's why the Aurors want to get me?"

Dumbledore nodded.

"When every little wizard grows to eleven, his name will automatically appear on the enrollment directory of the local wizarding school. That's why the Magical Congress of the United States discovered you."

"Fortunately, Mr. Scamander's wife just now worked for the Magical Congress of the United States, so Newt and I were able to find you before the Aurors arrived."

Dumbledore's words answered some of Kyle's doubts.

"And what about my father? Where is he now? Why has he never come to me?"

When he said this, Kyle's tone unconsciously brought a trace of resentment, even though he had no feelings for this father he had never met.

However, anyone who has been left unattended in an orphanage for six years and embarked on a wandering journey at the age of six cannot be without resentment.

Even if he is doing well by himself now, it is inevitable that he has some complaints about Gellert Grindelwald.

The two had passed through the forecourt of the castle and came to the gate of the castle unknowingly.

Dumbledore stood at the gate of the castle with a sad expression on his face.

"It's not your father's fault, it's not that he doesn't want to, it's that he can't."

Dumbledore's slightly thin hand stroked Kyle's short blond hair, "In 1945, I defeated him, and since then he has been imprisoned in Nurmengard and never stepped out of the castle."

Kyle was stunned for a while, co-authoring that his cheap dad, who he had never met, was still in prison? And it was sent in by the white-bearded old man in front of him?

"What about my mother?"

When Kyle mentioned the word "mother", he noticed a bit of embarrassment on the face of the old man in front of him.

Kyle instantly guessed that there might be some unspeakable hidden in it, so he quickly changed the subject.

"Then my identity... Will taking me in will cause you trouble?"

The beginning of the Devil's Son, if there are enemies looking for it, it will be very troublesome. Kyle asked this on purpose. He actually just wanted to find a protective umbrella for himself.

Because Dumbledore can't just let him go, where can there be a better candidate for this umbrella other than Dumbledore in front of him?

However, Dumbledore's answer was somewhat unexpected to Kyle:

"Your future name on the Hogwarts student roll will be Kyle Dumbledore, if you will."

"It won't be too late to restore Grindelwald's surname until you have the strength to be your own in the future."

Well, changing the surname will solve the problem, and with this surname, I will have no problem walking sideways in Hogwarts in the future.

"I'm honored, Professor." Kyle grinned.

It seems that Dumbledore and his father have a very close relationship, otherwise Dumbledore would not have made such a proposal.

Dumbledore smiled and patted Kyle on the shoulder, "Let's go, let's go to the auditorium for dinner."

...

The main hall of Hogwarts Great Hall.

By the time Kyle and Dumbledore appeared at the door, the wizards studying at Hogwarts were sitting around four long tables, above which thousands of candles floating in the air illuminated the dining room.

The four tables were set with sparkling tableware filled with all kinds of delicacies, but for breakfast, such dishes would be too rich.

Oatmeal, rolls, orange juice, kippers, eggs and bacon, toast, buttered jambread, tortilla chips…

Kyle, who has been in the orphanage for a few years, thought that the breakfast of foreigners is usually bread with jam, and a glass of milk.

Now it seems that the orphanage is too poor to afford it.

There is another long table on the upper table of the dining room, which is the seat of the teachers.

Kyle, who recklessly stepped into the auditorium, was dressed in Muggle attire, which seemed out of place compared to the Hogwarts students who were uniformly wearing wizard robes.

Just when he was at a loss, Dumbledore's gentle voice rang in his ear.

"You can dine with me, or you can find a long table and sit down."

Facing the unfamiliar faces at the long table and the curious eyes they cast over, Kyle felt that it was better for him to be with Dumbledore.

"Professor, I'd better come with you." Kyle caught up with Dumbledore.
