Hogwarts: Wizards Supreme

Chapter 202 Frankness

Walking through the front door and down the steps, the grounds have been spruced up.

The original lawn turned into a large rose garden, with little fairy lights shining in it, like stars falling from the sky. There were hundreds of live fairies sitting among rose bushes or fluttering their wings next to statues of Santa Claus and his reindeer.

The rose garden is surrounded by low shrubs, the winding paths are ornately decorated, and there are huge statues scattered around. The sound of water flowing from the fountain came from the rose garden, tinkling in time with the music coming from the auditorium.

Brian and Daphne walked along a path into the rose garden, occasionally seeing people sitting on carved benches. They found a remote and deserted bench and sat down, watching the fairy light twinkling among the rose bushes.

Daphne's hands were clasped tightly, as quiet as a beautiful porcelain doll.

Just when Brian was about to say something, a voice came from far behind him.

"...What should we do, Severis? We must think of a way out..." This was Karkaroff's voice, and his tone sounded a little anxious.

"I don't understand why you are making such a fuss, Igor." Snape's voice sounded calm.

"Severus, you can't pretend this didn't happen!" Karkaroff's voice was hoarse with fear. "It's become more and more obvious over the past few months..."

"Then run away," Snape's voice was a little impatient, "I will excuse you, but I want to stay in Hogwarts..."

The sound grew farther and farther, and then came the sounds of commotion. Snape fiercely deducted points from many young wizards who eavesdropped.

Brian also heard Ron's harsh retort.

Soon, everyone there dispersed, and the surroundings became quiet again.

"What is Professor Karkaroff afraid of?" Daphne whispered, "He wants to ask Professor Snape for advice? I didn't expect that they have such a good relationship..."

"Well, they used to be colleagues." Brian smiled, "Darkness is approaching. It's normal for him to be anxious."

"What darkness?" Daphne's tone seemed a little confused.

"The Dark Lord is coming back." Brian said. There is nothing that cannot be said.

"What? Really?" Daphne's tone was trembling, and her hands tightened.

"Yes, they should all feel it." Brian said calmly.

In fact, the Dark Lord's resurgence had little impact on the Greengrass family, who had always stayed out of it. As a pure-blood family, as long as they don't choose to be enemies with the Dark Lord, Voldemort will not deal with them.

Daphne lowered her head deeply, and the atmosphere fell into a brief silence.

"Daphne?" Brian whispered.

"Hmm..." Daphne responded in a low voice.

"What kind of person am I in your eyes?" Brian turned his head and looked at her seriously.

"In my eyes..." Daphne looked up and looked at Brian's shining eyes, her face slightly red and said, "You are a very different person..."

Daphne spoke softly, her tone erratic as if she was talking in her sleep.

"Well, first of all, he is very powerful, much more powerful than all the peers I have seen..." She smiled slightly, and then said, "He is also mature and reliable, as if he is in a different world from them... Maybe it is the same with me... ..." Her tone was a little disappointed.

"It seems like you don't care about anything, but you also seem to know everything...different...very attractive." Daphne tilted her head slightly, smiling peacefully and gently, "And then, you saved me, too. He is willing to help his friends...so, I think, he is actually a warm-hearted person."

"...Have done a lot of great things, but never publicized them...know a lot of things, mysterious, and make people curious..." Daphne said softly, her cheeks becoming increasingly red.

Brian listened quietly and sighed softly in his heart.

Probably in Daphne's mind, she is a great hero with bright light all over her body... This is the fan filter.

Daphne now indeed admires and admires him, more like a fan worshiping an idol. Maybe with deeper understanding, this can develop into love, but maybe the dream will be disillusioned.

Brian fell silent. When Daphne finished speaking and the atmosphere fell into silence again, he said softly: "Actually, I'm not as good as you think..."

Daphne opened her mouth, as if she felt something, and her eyes suddenly filled with mist.

"I'm just a person who is constantly being chased by..." Brian said in a somewhat sarcastic tone, "I'm driven by fate, troubled by meaningless emotions, and don't dare to open my heart... a poor guy."

"No, you're not like that!" Daphne said stubbornly, "You are a very good person!"

"Then how do you know the purpose behind the things I did?" Brian rubbed his brows, looking a little tired.

Daphne looked at him blankly, her eyes filled with water.

"Daphne, you are a good girl, very, very good..." Brian said frankly, "but I am not a person worthy of your pursuit and admiration. The me you see is not the real me..."

"But, I can get to know you..." Daphne said.

"Yes, so, put aside your usual fantasies, Daphne, treat me as a friend...as if you were meeting me for the first time." Brian's tone was very light, "After understanding, look at your heart clearly and be cautious. I am a person who may not have a future, and I don’t want to be a burden to you, Daphne.”

"Admiration is not an equal emotion. It is easily disillusioned...like a bubble." Brian continued, "So, look at me as an equal. You are a confident and strong girl, and you should not hide behind me. Under the shadow and covered with dust, your light should be blooming to the world."

"...Is that so?" Daphne's expression was blank, and the tears in her eyes finally fell, dripping down her fair and delicate cheeks and onto the back of her hands.

Brian gently wiped the tears from the corners of her eyes with a calm and gentle expression: "Yes."

"We are..." Daphne grabbed his arm tightly.

"We're friends, Daphne." Brian smiled.

"Friend...?" Daphne lowered her head and remained motionless.

Brian sat quietly aside, and a fairy from the rose bush flew over and danced on his outstretched fingertips.

"I understand, I will get to know you...and then..."

Daphne finally raised her head and spoke seriously and solemnly, as if making a promise. Her eyes were still red, but they were firmer and brighter than ever before.

Brian looked at the current Daphne, his eyes slightly dazed, as if he had returned to the bright, beautiful, noble, reserved, confident and elegant girl when they first met in the auditorium at the end of the sorting.

Not the little girl who was silently following him, cautiously trying to get closer.

Brian suddenly discovered that Daphne had indeed grown into a big girl. She is really beautiful now.

He smiled, and his smile was indeed sincere now.

"Yeah, stay away from me..." Brian said. There was a feeling of loss in my heart.

"I don't want to." Daphne smiled mischievously and raised her chin slightly, "I will make my own decision, I don't need you to choose for me."

"Okay." Brian smiled helplessly.

They sat here for a while and then returned to the auditorium. The dance was still going on, the Weird Sisters were still playing music, and people kept coming out of or entering the dance floor.

Draco and Astoria were sitting at a table, Draco was saying something with a smirk, making Astoria giggle. Crabbe and Goyle sat quietly aside, stuffing cakes into their mouths.

Blaise and Treya were sitting not far away. Judging from Treya's words and deeds, she was a straightforward girl and very cheerful.

Brian and Daphne sat down here and talked about random things very naturally. The atmosphere between the two was no longer weird at all, but it didn't feel charming either, leaving Draco and the others confused.

At midnight, the Weird Sisters stopped playing. Everyone gave them warm applause for the last time and began to walk to their respective lounges.

Blaise pretended to be reluctant to say goodbye to Treya, as if he would never see her again, almost shedding a few tears. Treya gave him an unbearable slap, which made him stop. Then she waved her hand and turned around to leave.

A group of people returned to the common room laughing and joking. Soon they couldn't suppress their exhaustion and went back to their dormitories to rest.
