Chapter 115 Howard Linju

“Why laser technology?”

Lin Ju left on the ARJ21 passenger plane provided by the base, and there was a special performance before returning to Xinyuan.

While waiting in his business car, Lin Ju finally asked Guo Shen his question.

Although the base also agreed to provide ultra-high-power laser technology in exchange, Lin Ju didn't quite understand the use of this.

Guo Shen: "Boss, small meteorites and fragments can easily cause huge damage to spacecraft during deep space navigation and must be eliminated before impact. At the same time, there is currently only one weapon that can eliminate it in a short time and has sufficient power."

Lin Ju: "So you want laser technology?"

Guo Shen: "Develop laser well. This will be a technology that changes the world structure and may make our position unshakable."

Lin Ju: "How to change?"

Guo Shen stretched out the tips of his two index fingers and faced each other: "The reason why the world can be peaceful now is based on a kind of balance."

Lin Ju immediately thought of the answer.

“What is the strongest guarantee of balance?”

Lin Ju said in his heart: Rocket.

Guo Shen: "In a vacuum, and in such an environment, the laser has almost no attenuation over distance."

Lin Ju was shocked and thought of a terrible scene.

Guo Shen still continued to describe to him:

"For small meteorites or debris that may threaten the spacecraft, we can detect them in advance through the global satellite monitoring and control system, and then guide the laser to attack in time, so that the threat can be eliminated."

"As long as there are enough satellites, we can defend against... meteorites coming from all directions, right?" Lin Ju completed the second half of the sentence for him.

"Yes, you don't need a lot. If the power is large enough to operate in synchronous orbit, 80 to 100 laser satellites can ensure that there is nothing in low-Earth orbit.

Even if there are not so many satellites, multiple lasers can be concentrated in a large space station. As long as the security of an area can be ensured, the effect will be the same. Even attacks on the space station can be easily intercepted. "

"..."

It was already night at this time, and there were no lights on in the car. Lin Ju looked at the bright lights of thousands of houses on both sides of the road. He was silent for a long time, and finally said softly:

"Classify this as a top secret project. No matter what the cost, we need such technology. This... is for world peace."

"Yes, boss."

At this year's Zhuhai Air Show, there was an endless stream of visitors in front of Xinyuan Aerospace Power's booth. Unfortunately, there were no partners, so they just took a look.

After all, Xinyuan rejected any intention to sell the H1 except for Arbor, and the Progress number on display could only be used as a static display.

Two aircraft engine models that Lin Ju had high hopes for were also exhibited at the exhibition, but the results were extremely dismal and no one cared about them.

As expected...

After all, who would believe that a space company's aerospace engine can do well? It’s as funny as if specaX wants to build a passenger plane.

Speaking of passenger aircraft, COMAC’s C919 also participated in the exhibition.

The C919 large aircraft participated in the Zhuhai Air Show for the first time in 2010, and then moved a large number of people. In 2015, it was still moving a large number of people, but it did not make its first flight.

The reason is very simple. The domestic production rate of C919 is too low. From avionics to key engine components, everything depends on imports. If any link is stuck, it will be fatal, but it has to be stuck.

After all, the airworthiness standards are controlled by foreign countries. If you use the parts produced by yourself, they will say that they do not meet the airworthiness standards and you will not be allowed to take off and land at foreign airports~

Americard completes the EU card, and parts card completes the standard card. Unless you give up all the key components and allow the giants to reap the majority of the profits, every C919 can actually provide international partners with high rewards. It is profitable to issue airworthiness certificates only when the time comes.

So wouldn’t it be nice if the C919 only flies domestically and does not go abroad? Nope either.

Because civil aviation is different from military aircraft, it needs to be maintained at various domestic civil airports at any time. These maintenance systems were designed for Airbus and Boeing during their decades of market occupation. Domestic passenger aircraft must adapt to this system. System instead of going to a lot of trouble to build another system yourself, it will be a loss.

To adapt to this system, it is natural to adopt foreign standards, so we are back to the starting point and still have to pay international manufacturers.

Therefore, even if COMAC wants to use Xinyuan's XW-10 for the C919, it will not work. It can only choose the LEAP-X1C engine jointly produced by Sifeng and Aramco General Electric.

As for transport aircraft, the Y-20 has the domestically produced WS-18 and the WS-20 under development, and does not need the XW-10, which has no absolute advantage.

XW-10 order, none.

It is not clear yet about the XW-9. There is definitely no domestic market, but there is also no movement from foreign countries coming to the air show. Obviously there are many factors.

However, although it is impossible to rely on a purely domestically produced large passenger plane, Lin Ju can still build one by himself with the same effect.

He bought the ARJ21 on the return trip and used it as the company's business jet.

Nowadays, Xinyuan has many things to do and needs to fly back and forth at any time. It is very troublesome to wait for the flight. So I simply bought an ARJ21 as a special plane. It can take off from the airport of the B-level base. In addition, Xinyuan's privileged application for routes is very convenient. Where can I go? All very fast.

However, as soon as the aircraft landed, it was pushed into the hangar by Xinyuan engineers in preparation for modifications.

Its two GE34 engines with an output of 9 tons of thrust will be replaced by two XW-10 engines with an adjusted bypass ratio, increasing the total thrust from 18 tons to 30 tons.

This will greatly improve the take-off and landing capabilities of ARJ21, especially the comfort level of the boss.

The other thing is to change the paint and make interior modifications, which are more suitable for remote working, although Lin Ju is more like a rubber stamp.

Standing in front of the huge final assembly hangar, Lin Ju watched the workers push the ARJ21 into the modification position to prepare for the work. The hurried figures looked like a group of working ants against the huge hangar, and a thick feeling suddenly rose. Pride.

In the midst of crazy leap-forward development, as of November, Xinyuan now has more than 1,300 employees on the job, and there are more than 300 part-time employees poached from universities, totaling more than 1,700 people.

The B-level base is like a giant beast, and it is still devouring talents from all walks of life. It will not stop until it has 3,000 employees on the job.

Considering the base's extremely high level of automation, these 1,700 people are as powerful as 5,000 people, enough to make every crazy dream a reality.

Lin Ju suddenly missed his old profession, an ordinary mechanical engineer.

He hurried to the Aviation Department, and under the surprised eyes of the engineers, he pulled out a piece of special drawing paper the size of a table, unfolded it, rolled up his sleeves, and held a giant triangle plate in one hand and a pencil in the other.

"Boss?" the deputy chief engineer of the aviation department asked cautiously:

"What are you trying to do, and how can we help?"

Without raising his head, Lin Ju first drew the center line on the paper:

“I’m going to design a plane and I’m going to fly it myself.”
