North American Gunslinger Detective

Chapter 208 First Experience of Monitoring

Jones didn't know what to do. He hadn't seen Jimmy's file. He was just a small role in the group. Except for Peter, no one else had permission to see other people's files.

Jones took a camera from the trunk and gave it to Jimmy, "Then just watch here first. I'll go back and take a look at the traffic video from the dispatch center."

Jimmy nodded while holding the camera. He had already found a place to take pictures in advance. There was a cafe diagonally opposite, with two tables and parasols placed outside. Jimmy went over and ordered a cup of coffee, then put the camera on the table.

Facing the apartment building where Seaman was located, he would take pictures whenever anyone came in or out.

It soon became dark, and Jimmy called Peter to tell him what he was spying on, and then took a taxi directly back to Jones' apartment.

Jimmy also asked someone about the rent of the apartment at Jones Apartment. A single apartment costs more than 2,000, and a two-bedroom apartment costs 1,500. In order to save worry, Jimmy booked a single apartment with one bedroom, one living room and one kitchen.

The one-bathroom house was similar to his house in Little Rock, Arkansas, except that the size was much smaller. This one only seemed to be 40 square meters.

Unfortunately, Jimmy can't move in yet. He has to wait a week, and the people inside haven't left yet. Fortunately, the apartment manager said that the house will be vacant in a week at most, and Jimmy just paid a deposit.

The next day, Jimmy arrived at the station and exported the photos from the camera. Yes, digital cameras were already used at that time, and they were equipped with high-magnification lenses, so the photos taken were still very clear.

Jimmy posted the photos in the conference room and asked others to identify them to see if any of them were familiar. Because Jimmy did not participate in other people's inquiries about the employees and Rachel, he did not identify all the relevant people at all.

Jones: "Wait, go back to the last person."

Jimmy adjusted the photo, Jones: "Yes, this is Parker Denley. Isn't he returning to New York today?"

Diana: "Are there any other photos of Parker?"

Jones: "Wait for me." Jones pulled out the photo from the previous investigation from the computer and showed it to everyone. It was Parker Denley's ID photo. Comparing it with the photo Jimmy took, he was sure it was him.

Peter: "There is a problem. Seaman is just an ordinary employee. Why did Parker go to him directly after coming back? And why did Parker come back early?"

Jones: "I suggest focusing on monitoring Seaman and Parker, they have problems."

Peter: "Diana, you come with me to find Parker for routine questioning. Jones, Jimmy, you continue to monitor Seaman and drive the surveillance vehicle. Let's go."

Jones, Jimmy: "OK"

Jimmy and Jones went downstairs to the parking lot. Jones walked directly to a van. Jimmy looked at it and followed Jones.

Jones opened the door first, got into the truck and checked, then Jimmy got in the passenger seat and Jones drove away from Federal Plaza.

Arriving outside Seaman's apartment building, Jones parked his car twenty or thirty meters away. If he parked here, Seaman would not be easily spotted even if he looked out the window.

Afterwards, Jones began to change clothes, into a T-shirt and shorts sportswear, and then trotted towards Seaman's apartment. Almost 10 minutes later, Jones returned. He had installed surveillance cameras outside Seaman's door and in the apartment.

At the door, because I heard someone was in Ximan's apartment, I couldn't go in and install a bug, so I had to install it outside.

After Jones returned, he took something like a handheld antenna from the car, pointed it in the direction of Simon's apartment, put on the headphones and started calibrating.

One thing to note, the FBI's special surveillance vehicle is really complete. Jimmy didn't use so many things when he was training at the academy. At that time, he only used cameras and bugs.

Of course, the main reason was that Jimmy was originally positioned as an agent, not an intelligence analyst, so they did not participate in many courses.

From the current point of view, Jones should have been trained as an intelligence officer. He is very familiar with using these devices and does not require Jimmy's participation in the whole process.

Jimmy looked at the device in front of him boredly. He took an earphone from one side and put it on, listening to the sounds coming from the corridor. The screen in front of him showed the stairs of Jimmy's apartment. No one was passing by now.

Jimmy: "Jones, I'm going to buy two cups of coffee." After Jimmy said that, he walked to the passenger seat, opened the door and got out of the car.

Let me add to the structure of this surveillance vehicle. There is a passage between the driver's seat and the co-pilot's seat that leads to the car. There is a door that can be closed to prevent someone from seeing into the car from the front. The back door of the car can also be opened, but the back door does not make too much noise when it is opened.

It was too big, so Jimmy chose to get out from the passenger side.

Jimmy bought two cups of coffee from the cafe where he sat during surveillance yesterday and handed one to Jones.

Jimmy: "Is there any movement?"

Jones didn't speak, just shook his head.

Jimmy couldn't help it. Monitoring was so boring. He put on his headphones and continued to look at the screen.

More than half an hour later, Jones' phone rang. Jones answered the call, just hummed twice and then hung up.

Jones: "Peter has already communicated with Parker. He agrees with our judgment this morning that Parker should have a problem. He and Diana are monitoring Parker over there."

Jimmy replied that he understood, and the two of them continued to monitor boringly.

Jones' phone rang again. After answering the phone, Jones said to Jimmy, "Parker went out. Peter and the others are following him. Check the direction. They may be coming to our side."

Jimmy suddenly became energetic. He had been monitoring here for so long and gained nothing at all. It was really boring. It was hard to understand how these intelligence officers could patiently carry out surveillance.

After a while, a black Mercedes-Benz sedan parked next to the door of Ximan's apartment. A young man got out of the car, and he looked less than 30 years old. He walked into the apartment, and the back door of the surveillance vehicle was also knocked.

Jimmy stood up and went over to open a gap, took a look outside, and then opened a door to let Peter and Diana in.

Peter: "Have they met?"

Jones: "Just knocked on the door."

Peter picked up Jimmy's original headphones, sat in his seat, and began to watch the surveillance and listen to the recording.

Seaman opened the door for Parker. He looked both ways and let Parker into the room. Because there was no surveillance, he could only listen to their words through a bug above the door. However, because of the wall, the sound was very unclear.

That's when Jones came forward. He took out the antenna again and pointed it at Seaman's room.

Not long after, Parker left Seaman's apartment again, returned to his car, and drove away. Diana opened the back door of the car, jumped out, and followed him in the car.
