Rewind System: Vampire Harem In The Apocalypse
107 Chapter 107: The Hunt For Royalty (Part 1)
Even after Xavier was gone, Sophie remained seated on her bed with her arms wrapped around her legs.
She knew it was time to get up and have breakfast but she was too lazy to.
'Vampires aren't even supposed to have breakfast... We're night people. The only reason we're doing it is so that Xavier's sister and mother don't eat alone.'
It was then that Sophie realised something.
'If more higher rank nobles are sent to attack the mansion, won't we all be fucked? I doubt I can deal with any noble ranked higher than Viscount on my own.'
'Will we really be able to protect his sister and mother?'
A puzzled and worried expression grew on her face as she dropped down onto the bed. She rubbed her face on the pillow.
'Oh well, there's no point in worrying about this now. It's not like we can escape anywhere, anyways. The city is probably infested by Ghouls and Vampires that know the Redbloods are a target.'
'All we can hope is that we last long enough for Xavier to defeat the royal bloodline.'
Her eyelids slowly shut.
"Defeating the royal bloodline, huh... I can't believe someone would actually be crazy enough to attempt that...". She let out another sigh "Honestly, that guy... I've never met anyone like him..."
Sophie could feel her consciousness fading as she was about to fall back asleep.
'If he fails then... I really am fucked. They'll place me as a target for joining sides with the Redbloods and I'll be killed.'
Her brows frowned.
'But I wonder why... For some reason I feel like it might not be impossible for him...'
She rubbed her hair.
"Who am I kidding, there's no way he's getting past the four dukes... After all, they're-"
*SLAM!*
Being interrupted, Sophie almost leapt off her bed as the door to her room slammed open.
*Step!* *Step!* *Step!*
With the most irritated expression present on her face, Sangrea rushed in. She looked around, and once she noticed that there was no sign of Xavier, she rushed to the window to look out of it.
Sophie's room was located at the front side of the mansion, there was no signs of him regardless of where she looked.
Seeing this, she clenched her hands into a fist.
"Sophie..." She muttered trying to hold her anger in as she turned to her. "Where exactly did he go?" She asked as she forced a smile.
'...He didn't tell her? Ah, now that I think about it. She wasn't present during the discussion yesterday.'
"Who knows, he didn't tell anyone where he's going. All we know is he's gone to go launch a strike on the royal family." Responded Sophie.
Sangrea's heart dropped.
"Is he insane!? Why!? And why didn't he tell me?!" Sangrea asked
Before Sophie could reply, a third voice came from the doorway.
"That's right. He's insane." Said Anastasia as she walked in. "He's targeting them because they targeted us. It was the royal family that set the order to kill you, after all."
"Well why didn't you stop him?! You should know better than anyone that he's heading right to his death!" Shouted Sangrea as her eyes began to tear up.
"I did try to stop him but my efforts were futile. You know what his ability can do, even if I grabbed a hold of him-"
Anastasia was interrupted by Sangrea who coldly said.
"You never did like him... Did you?"
Tears began flowing down Sangrea's face, her heart ached as she spat out the following words.
"You must be happy that he's going to die..."
Anastasia's eyes widened at her words.
Before she could say anything in return, Sangrea walked past her leaving the room.
Anastasia hung her head and stood there in silence. Sophie who'd watched the whole confrontation remained seated on her bed with cold sweat flowing down her face as she nervously tried to avoid looking at Anastasia.
'Ah... That was tense... Do I say something? Do I not say something?'
'Can I act like I didn't see that just now..? I really don't want to get involved, I just want to get back to sleep...'
-
Sangrea rushed down the halls with her equipment and bag. The servants watched, wondering where she'd planned on going but they already had an idea in mind.
"Young lady, heading out is a bad-"
Sangrea sent a glare at the servant who dared to speak up, causing him to quiet down.
"I apologise for speaking out of hand."
"It's fine." She responded before walking down the stairs.
The other servants watched without saying a word. She was in a clearly bad mood, it'd been long since they'd last seen her like that.
After reaching the bottom of the stairs, Sangrea stopped dead in her tracks.
"What are you doing?" She asked.
The head butler stood before her by the mansion's entrance.
"I've been waiting for you." He responded.
"Don't tell me you're planning to stop me. Whose orders was it, my fathers?"
The head butler smiled.
"You're as sharp as always."
"I'm not in the mood for this right now... Just let me through."
"I'm sorry young lady, but you know better than anyone that I can't disobey your father."
Sangrea sent a glare at the head butler. She knew that talk was pointless, there was only one thing she could do to get past him.
[Shadow Manipulation: Shadow Transport]
The shadow beneath her expanded to drag her down and into it.
Before it could however-
[Barrier Manipulation: Cubic light Barrier.]
A glowing barrier shaped like a cube formed around Sangrea, cutting off her ability and shadow.
"The only way you can go and support your husband is if you get past me... And unfortunately young lady, at your current state, you cannot do that."
Sangrea's seal was active. Xavier did not remove it before leaving, so she was considerably weaker. Not to mention the light barrier was completely lit up from the inside, preventing her from using any shadows.
It was the perfect counter for her ability which relied on shadows.
"Do you admit defeat?" The butler asked, as he got ready to take down the barrier.
Despite his question there was no response.
"..."
Instead... Dark patches began the form around the glowing barrier from within.
Once the butler noticed what the patches were, he felt a chill run down his spine.
Hand prints. Countless Hand prints were forming around the barrier, covering the light with their darkness.
A nervous smile grew on the butler's face as his eyes widened from beneath his glasses.
"...You're letting that, out here...?"
'Just what did that young man do to get you to go this far from him...'
Having an idea of what was coming, the butler braced himself.
*SHATTER!*
The cube of light shattered into pieces, freeing Sangrea as a wave of shadow burst out causing the entire main hall to darken.
"..."
Everything had become pitch black.
"Sorry... You've left me no choice." Sangrea Apologised.
The butler looked around, smiling at the sight unfolding before him. Even in the dark he could see her standing completely still.
But around her however, there were countless arms emerging out of the ground, slowly making their way to him.
"Pandora's Box." She whispered.

"At-Choo!" Xavier sneezed as he leapt from rooftop to rooftop.
He was back in knightsbridge, scouting through the city. The flood had risen to a point where traversing the ground was impossible.
There were many ghouls which he could see getting swept and dragged by the current, something which he did not want to be apart of.
*Crack!*
Xavier leapt onto another far taller building, crashing into it's wall and plunging his arm into it to secure himself on it.
From there, he looked around the city once more with his crimson vampire sight.
Snow was falling from up north where the Ice princess had used her ability. The entire city block was frozen.
"I don't think I'm at a level where I can take her on yet... Which noble should I head for... Where's their headquarters anyways? I've been searching for a while and haven't found anything."
Xavier also hadn't encountered any Vampires or Humans from the Great Vampire Opposition Corps, only ghouls or human survivors that were in hiding. The ghouls were leaving him alone as they could sense his Vampire blood.
As for the survivors, he avoided them in order to not frighten them.
After giving it some thought, Xavier gained an idea.
*Thrust* *Thrust!*
He began leaping up the walls, thrusting his hands into them while he did so in order to secure a hold so that he wouldn't fall.
Once he was at the top, he walked over to the edge and got in position where he faced the frozen north part of the city.
"My idea is simple, even if I can't take her on. I'll keep taking her on until I can." He declared with a proud expression. "In other words, operation suicide!!" He shouted as he leapt off.
*Fwoosh!*
As he plunged towards the ground, the cube hovering beside him began to rotate at uncontrollable speeds.
*Snap*
[Infinity Cube: Ability Enchance]
[Lightning Manipulation Level 1: Lightning Burst.]
*VBOOOM!*
Xavier's falling figure, vanished leaving behind a trace of lightning heading towards the frozen city area.
