78. The reinforcements: [3] <Awakened Lisa> and <Barbara>

Countess Barbara was a demoness with great pride and a demeanor like never seen before. But her journey was rather thorny.

She was a succubus who belonged to the Clan [Lust]. As a low-rank demoness, she was mistreated and looked down upon. After she was humiliated many times one day, Barbara decided to take revenge. 

The only way to live for a succubus was to have continuous sex with its prey until it died due to exhaustion. However, Barbara was different.

She stopped working for the Clan [Lust] and challenged a very difficult trial of the demon lord. She became the only demoness from the low rankings to accept the challenge.

Once she participated, the rest was history. Her strength was low, yet she remained persistent and her efforts paid off.

She won the attention of a bigshot from the Clan [Pride] and was fostered afterward till she reached where she was today.

This was Countess Barbara.

But at some point, Barbara got stuck at the bottleneck and was not able to reach the fifth circle. She wanted to break through the fifth circle, however, she wasn't able to do it even with the help of her clan.

Her succubus bloodline had special and specific requirements to progress in her class, which the Clan [Pride] was unable to provide. 

After living under the Clan [Pride] for so long, she did not wish to follow the path she had left long ago. She was arrogant and prideful.

Her pride had reached so high, that Barbara even denied fighting against weaker opponents.

"This looks interesting," Barbara said while she hastily chased the man running. She had found some demons hiding in bushes to ambush, but she ignored them and continued to watch Kevin.

This was the first time she had seen something like this. Demons of low ranks would never hide and attack someone unless they were controlled by someone with a higher rank.

Barbara tried to find answers to her question and it didn't take long for her to notice. 'Another Viscount!' Her eyes widened the moment she saw the threads in the air.

There were multiple threads varying from deep red to light red color and their size varied according to their circle.

However, one thread stood out the most and that was none other than,

"Exiled…?" She was intrigued by this discovery. How can an exile be a viscount?

"Was it you who killed my soldiers?" Her eyes turned bright red as anger and hunger to devour such a demon increased.

The exiled demon might have killed some demons to vent his frustration or might've killed the demons as a part of his revenge.

'Huh?' Just before she could leave to kill such an arrogant demon who had dared to hurt the pride of the Clan [Pride], she saw golden light radiating in the corner of her eyes and the human she had been following, doing something insane.

"Why does that human have that much holy power…?!" Her instincts screamed danger. Was the exiled demon their enemy? Of course, he was! After all, demons were ordered to kill any exiled demon seen at the first sight.

But the Clan [Pride] had a rule that no other clan followed: "Save your brethren when against the enemy!"

"We should first deal with that human, and then I will deal with the exiled." She knew that the demon exiled was a viscount by his aura.

Thomas ran toward Lisa.

'It's her! I knew it! She is alive!!' He tried to use his twin telepathy and he was positive that the woman in front of him was his Lisa.

"Lisaaaaaa!"

As Thomas shouted, everyone's attention was diverted toward him except for Lara.

Lisa was standing near Logan while holding his arm. She was bleeding from the injuries she had against 

Logan's location got revealed as Thomas attracted everyone's attention. 

'This asshole!' Logan cursed his luck as he saw all eyes toward him.

Logan was about to unsheath his sword when a silhouette passed by his side.

The world stopped for a moment for everyone.

Wind passed as the silhouette reached Thomas who was running toward Logan.

Thump.

Before anyone could react, the sound of something heavy falling on the ground echoed inside the forest.

"Thomas!!!!" Jin reacted as he saw the scene unfold in front of his eyes.

Barbara suddenly appeared near Logan with a smirk on her face. Logan was stunned as he had no time to react and the next scene in front of his eyes shocked him. 

Lisa, holding a sword was a step ahead of where Thomas had passed. There was blood dripping from it and Thomas' body dropped to his knees as his head rolled away from it.

"You Bitch!! Why?! Why did you make me do this?!" Lisa shouted as she looked at Thomas' dead body and Barbara alternatively.

A sudden surge of rage passed her body and caused her to get into her demonic form.

Long black hair that flowed till her butt along with two short demonic horns grew on her head.

Her beautiful azure eyes turned into deep red eyes as she kept looking at everyone with hatred, especially at Barbara. 

She did not hold back when she swung her sword at her twin brother.

How did this happen? Lisa was badly injured, then how?

Jin was shocked to his core.

"..." The forest froze.

Lisa had unsheathed her sword when Thomas called her name, however, Barbara's sudden appearance made Lisa move instinctively and swing her sword.

Her body trembled vigorously as her anger kept raising. There was a bloodthirsty aura that flowed around her body. Tears in the corner of her eyes flowed down her cheek, but there was a deeper hatred as the red aura turned darker.

"HAHAHAHAHAHAH~" An outburst of demonic laughter broke the silence.

"Good~ good~ I never thought to see this happening again in my life! You are a fool to fall into my trap! Hahahah!" Barbara laughed like a maniac.

Logan ignored Barbara and neared Lisa, but Lisa looked at him with the same hatred and rejected his touch. This greatly surprised Logan.

"Arghhhhhh! Ugh!" Her cry got louder and the pain inside intensified.

Lisa's mind was suddenly filled with guilt as she was not able to save him. She pointed her sword at Barbara. 

She did not understand why Barbara influenced her to kill Thomas who running toward her but she knew exactly what she should do.

Although her memories of Thomas were broken she knew that he was someone important to her. Thus, with her demonic blood, she decided to take revenge.

Lisa attacked Barbara and everyone saw it happening.

"Give it up, you cannot do it! Idiot! Hahahahah!" Barbara laughed at Lisa's actions.

Since Lisa's body was exhausted, her sword fell from her hands. Lisa looked at her palms and then at Thomas' body… and then at his face.

There was a smile on his face, it was a smile that a person who has found something he has been searching for ages has and Lisa could do nothing but look at it blankly.

"N-no… No! No! NOOOO! Thomas!!!" Lisa cried, tears of blood fell from her cheeks, and the dark aura around her got denser.

"Good! Good! Good! C'mon attack me! What are you waiting for?!" Barbara laughed even louder.

Her eyes were fixed on Lisa as she ignored the existence of Jin and Kevin.

Earlier she influenced Lisa with one of her skills to kill Thomas because she thought it was a funny development. Little did she expect that man was someone dear to this demoness.

She had found Lisa, who was even more interesting than the handsome necromancer (Kevin) who had brought a man from dead to living.

'She is just a human… yet she has the thing required to awaken and become a…' While Barbara was busy in her thoughts, Lisa's emotions were devoured by her demonic energy. 

"I hate this…" She said before her body started exerting the energy.

"L-Lisa?" Logan was worried as Lisa's appearance kept changing. Two hideous bat wings sprout out of her back and her muscles got tighter and sturdier.

Similar to what happened to Jason Rasbold who was turned into the Blood Knight because of his highly fluctuating emotions, Lisa was turning into something new.

'System! Can't you see what's happening-' Before Logan could argue, another message popped.

'What?!' Logan did not understand it completely, but he knew that reawakened meant something too great.

"You will pay for this…" Even though her appearance was changed, it did not change her voice. But the anger hidden inside that voice was clear to everyone.

Logan and Lara made eye contact in that fraction of a second and nodded as if they understood each other.

Logan, who was lacking his left arm did not care as he pulled out his sword and while Lisa faced Barbara, the new unknown threat, he and his team decided to fight against everything.

Because of the sudden actions and changes in the situation, it went unnoticed that Kevin had prepared a spell since everyone present was a demon.

"This should be enough." He said out loud and,

"You all sinners must die! And to make it happen, BLIND!!!!"
