Soviet Union 1991

Main text Chapter 780 Agent Plan

Second update

Voinea is probably the most depressed member of the Romanian National Salvation Front.

Since Ceausescu was executed, Isescu, who had fought together at the beginning, has suddenly become the president of Romania. Stenculescu has changed from the deputy minister of defense to the minister of defense of Romania. However, Voinea has become the president of the National Salvation Front. The founder of Romania has never had the opportunity to integrate into Romania's top political circles. As a member of the Romanian Social Democratic Party, Voinea is incompatible with Isescu's governing philosophy.

The Democratic National Salvation Front broke away from the National Salvation Front and established a new party due to major differences in political views with the Roman faction. At that time, the internal Roman faction believed that the National Salvation Front must draw a clear line with the Communist Party and completely eliminate the consequences of the Communist Party; they advocated the implementation of shock therapy and large-scale privatization, and opposed the policy of gradual reform. Later, the Democratic Party formed by the Romans gradually transformed into a center-right party.

The theoretical propositions of the Democratic National Salvation Front and the Social Democratic Party are close to the democratic socialism of Western Europe. They claim to represent and defend the interests of all Romanians, especially the interests of workers, farmers, small and medium-sized owners, intellectuals and students, and accept the social democratic values of freedom, social justice, equality and solidarity. This is also why Yanayev chose the Democratic Socialist Party. The ideas of this party represent the vast number of oppressed Romanian people at the bottom. It can also unite people more when inciting hatred.

Therefore, after the failure of the parliamentary election in November 1996, the Social Democratic Party took the step of transforming into social democracy. The party first adjusted its positioning and began to adopt the view that the party is a European social democratic party, and expressed its support for NATO and the eastward expansion of the EU. The Social Democratic Party's party platform clearly declares that the party is "a European, social democratic party" and promises to join the European Union and NATO. The Social Democratic Party had formally applied to join the EU when it was in power from 1992 to 1996, but made no substantial progress.

The European Commission pointed out this year that Romania is trying to get closer to the political standards for EU accession and is still facing considerable competition and market pressure economically. Most EU member states do not advocate Romania's accession to the EU.

This is why Yanayev did not accept Isescu. As chairman of a Western-leaning ruling party, after his electoral defeat in 1996, the party made integration into Europe a main task. Although the Social Democratic Party still adheres to the reform of the social market economy and opposes barbaric capitalism in Romania, it has been classified as a heretic in the eyes of Yanayev.

He needed a pro-Soviet leader of the ruling party.

So Voinea came on the KGB's radar and decided that he was by far the best candidate. It has been suppressed within the Social Democratic Party for a long time. In addition, Constantinescu is the chairman of the Democratic Council and suppressed the Social Democratic Party after the 1996 election. It is completely possible to package the other party as a "hero who saved Romania."

KGB intelligence officers began to contact Voinea privately, of course thinking that Voinea was providing political donations. After all, the KGB was familiar with this business.

Walking into Voinea's office, the KGB agent did not see a smug man, just an old guy with a depressed face and a sad face. An unlucky guy who lost his position during the military reform and has been trying unsuccessfully since joining politics.

The agent expressed his purpose straight to the point. Of course, his background and identity were fictitious.

Voinea looked at the man in front of him who didn't look outstanding and asked a little strangely, "I'm very curious why you let me participate in the election of the Social Democratic Party. Party Chairman Isescu This is the person you should win over, right?"

Voinea's eyes were half-closed, his expression calm. He is still thinking about whether to join this dangerous game.

"Our company has always adopted a policy of strong support for politics, especially for people we think are worthy of investment. We will greatly increase the financial burden, so Congressman Voinea does not have to worry about money."

The stranger handed him a thin piece of paper, but the amount displayed on it was much heavier. It was so heavy that Voinea instantly frowned, vaguely feeling that the things behind it were not as simple as imagined.

He raised his head and asked deliberately, "What does this mean? It seems that you are planning to throw away all your money?"

"Isn't it your wish to remove Constantinescu from power and then to step down Isescu from the position of chairman of the Social Democratic Party? Congressman Voinea." The man chuckled, "Or should I say You have lost your ambition as a politician over the years. This is not good news. We need a real politician with strength and ambition."

"What do you mean?" Voinea raised his voice instantly. He felt that he was being underestimated by the man in front of him.

The man felt that he had to resort to provocation, "What do you mean? Isn't it very obvious? Escu has already kicked you away. How many of the founders of the Democratic National Salvation Front can still stand in the Ivy League now? "

"I was also a founder of the Romanian revolution back then. Why did they treat me like this! Why! If our army hadn't defected on the battlefield, how could they have brought down Ceausescu with a bunch of losers? It's just a dream!"

The pain in his heart was stimulated, and Voinea said indignantly, "I should be treated as a hero, not living in this shabby place and being discriminated against by others!"

He smiled, knowing that he had made the right move. It seemed that he had grasped what Voinea wanted most, power. Politicians who don't want to be president are not good politicians. Now that he knew Voinea's desire, he could prescribe the right medicine.

"Hello, Senator Voinea, my name is August." The KGB agent stretched out his hand, which meant that the two sides could finally move to the key negotiations.

Being discriminated against politically, he still had a certain influence in the army and denied Iescu's ruling philosophy. He was simply the most suitable candidate for the Soviet Union.

"We came here this time just for one thing, that is, to support you to the position of President of Romania."

Voinea's expression was a little surprised. No one dared to guarantee that he could support himself to the position of President.

Looking at the other party's unbelievable expression, August said mysteriously, "Please believe me, we have the strength." (To be continued.)
