#529 - Red Lantern Demon VS Zhigao Team
The ground that was kicked up turned into chunks of gravel, scattering in all directions like a hurricane sweeping through.
Hyperion had no time to worry about ordinary people; the enemy before him demanded his full attention. The force from the fist made him click his tongue in amazement.
Hyperion wanted to stop the grappling and create some distance between himself and his enemy. When he looked up, preparing to shoot atomic rays at Frank, he realized his opponent seemed to have the same idea.
However, Hyperion's eyes widened, while Frank opened his mouth.
"Ugh!"
A scarlet, blood-like, viscous liquid flame spewed from Frank's mouth, and at the same time, Hyperion's rays burst from his eyes. The two powerful energies collided in the air, causing a violent explosion.
The power of this explosion and the resulting storm forced Hyperion to sway. Especially at such close range, he stumbled and took a step backward.
But his opponent, Frank, instead of retreating, advanced, lifting that terrifyingly large axe and hacking down at Hyperion.
"Clang!"
A sound like metal clashing against metal rang out. Hyperion, who hadn't regained his balance, was forced straight to the ground by Frank's mountain-splitting force. Hyperion then understood why Frank hadn't been affected.
Frank had deployed a complex mechanical structure covered in red energy, like two ground anchors, firmly gripping the ground.
Being an Eternal, Hyperion's formidable defense saved him. The axe made of rage energy only cut through Hyperion's battle suit, failing to penetrate his skin.
Seeing that the attack was ineffective, Frank immediately changed his strategy. The battle axe in his hand began to reassemble, transforming into a chainsaw in an instant.
With a sharp pull, the chainsaw roared to life, its constantly rotating chain cutting into Hyperion's body. Sparks flew everywhere, making it look like a scene from a horror movie.
Feeling his skin getting hotter and the constant pain, Hyperion knew that if this continued, his skin would really be cut open by Frank in this way.
Just as he was about to attack Frank with atomic rays, Frank was faster, reaching out his right hand towards Hyperion's head. A red light enveloped Hyperion's head, instantly turning into a helmet with no vents.
Having dealt with Hyperion's atomic rays, Frank accelerated the chainsaw's rotation. He wanted to quickly finish off the enemy before him, or else that old dog Ross might run off to who knows where, making it difficult to find him again.
However, at this moment, a bright ray shot out from the corner. Frank, only paying attention to Hyperion, was caught off guard and struck directly by this sneak attack from behind, sending him flying.
But that wasn't the end of it. Before Frank could adjust his body in the air, a slender figure rushed in front of him, followed by a thunderous roar. Frank flew off in another direction once again.
This time, no one stopped him. Frank crashed heavily to the ground, but his combat experience was rich. He used the force to roll several times on the ground, not only dissipating some of the impact but also using the opportunity to create distance between himself and his enemies, escaping the encirclement.
But things were not as simple as he thought. A red and blue blur took advantage of Frank's inability to get up and arrived at his side.
Faced with an enemy of such speed, Frank was somewhat stunned. As mentioned earlier, as a soldier, Frank did possess considerable combat experience, but in the realm of superhuman combat, he was still just a rookie.
Once the number of enemies increased, coupled with their different abilities, Frank suddenly felt overwhelmed.
In that moment of愣神, the blurry enemy had already launched hundreds of attacks. Although these attacks didn't cause as much damage as Hyperion's, the accumulation of small injuries could be annoying to death.
"Ah!"
With a loud roar, the ring on his left hand glowed with a scarlet light. A wave-like red spectral energy burst from Frank's body, forcing back the enemy constantly entangling him.
"This ability..." Windrunner, who had retreated to a safe distance in the blink of an eye, hesitated as he looked at Frank before him. "It's like Doctor Spectrum's."
"Crack!"
Tearing off the helmet on his head, Hyperion, finally having a chance to catch his breath because of his teammates' arrival, said, "I think so too. Doctor Spectrum, what do you think?"
"It does resemble spectral energy, but I can't affect the energy it releases," Doctor Spectrum flew to Hyperion's side. "Otherwise, I would have removed the helmet from your head earlier."
"It seems that his ability should have a close connection to the spectrum, but there are also fundamental differences."
Doctor Spectrum looked at the prism on his glove, the source of his power.
"I noticed just now that when he used his ability to force back Windrunner, the ring on his left hand lit up with an unusual light. I speculate that the source of his ability is that ring."
Perhaps because the abilities were too similar, Doctor Spectrum couldn't completely figure out Frank's ability, but he immediately saw Frank's weakness.
Hyperion lowered his head to recall, and found that it was indeed as Doctor Spectrum said. The ring did emit different degrees of light when Frank used his ability, but he hadn't thought about it that way before. Now, with Doctor Spectrum's reminder, he suddenly felt enlightened.
"Then the target is obvious," Power Princess cracked her knuckles and joined the others. "We need to take off that red guy's ring."
"Leave it to me," Windrunner's voice hadn't faded before he disappeared. It seemed he wanted to use his speed advantage to remove Frank's ring, thereby directly ending the battle.
However, Frank naturally knew his weakness. Before Windrunner could run to his side, Frank had already flown up. Windrunner, who had no flying ability, could only watch from the ground.
"Hey!" Windrunner widened his eyes. "This isn't fair! Come down here if you have the guts!"
Frank didn't want to pay attention to this clown. His gaze looked towards the farther direction, the direction of the army's retreat. While he and Hyperion were entangled, the army had retreated far away.
The thought of his enemy about to escape made the anger in Frank's heart even more intense. The red light on his left hand's red light ring shone with an undeniable brilliance, and the red light covering his body had now turned into a raging flame!
"Obviously, he's become more difficult to deal with," Power Princess rolled her eyes. She had long been accustomed to fighting crime for so many years, but she wasn't worried at all at this time.
Even if Frank was more difficult to deal with, he couldn't possibly win against them, could he?
Opponents as strong as that alien were very rare.
