The Emperor’s Angel of Death
#3022 - Critical moment
“Ha, Eidolon really thinks he's the leader. Reply to him, understood.”
Lucius turned around, walking grimly past the command throne, while the gothic lolita-esque demon merely said in a childish voice as he passed.
“Be careful, I faintly sense a power in this world... that I fear.”
Lucius paused, then gripped the sheath of the long sword at his waist.
“Fear? I fear nothing...”
With that, he strode towards the exit, his Flawless Blades warband following closely behind.
At this moment, the defensive firepower of Nason IV was at its maximum, dazzling lasers and plasma enveloping the entire space like a torrential rain, while the few strike cruisers charged towards the planet regardless.
Soon, their void shields began to fail one by one, the armor on them constantly peeling and shattering under the barrage of fire.
A minute later, a strike cruiser, unable to withstand the pressure, exploded from the middle, breaking in two and scattering many internal fragments into the cold void.
Two minutes later, the second cruiser exploded, even more tragically than the first, directly turning into fireworks, which also represented the silent demise of hundreds of elite warriors of the Third Legion.
By this time, the other strike cruisers were already battered, but relying on their extreme speed, they suddenly turned, swept past the planet's high orbit, and launched a series of boarding torpedoes, targeting the nexus of Nason IV's ring orbital facility—the Astropathic Relay.
This node was a large space station integrating communications, command, and scheduling systems, and was also one of the fire concentration areas of the orbital defense facilities, with five large laser arrays and more than thirty giant turrets distributed around it.
More than twenty boarding torpedoes headed straight for the Astropathic Relay, with dense point defense weapons destroying seven of them mid-flight, and the remaining thirteen plunging into the node after a bumpy ride.
“Dance, my partners!”
As Lucius laughed and stepped out of the boarding torpedo, he was met with a barrage of plasma fire, the set-up plasma machine guns firing wildly at the Kakophoni, but these mortals could not keep up with his speed, as he had already left half a second earlier.
When he appeared among the astonished defenders, one of them raised a chainsword and slashed at him. Lucius silently met their attack, knocking down the person wearing the officer's uniform with his free hand, then rotating his weapon with one hand, swinging an arc towards another soldier's flank.
The soldier who tried to attack with the chainsword instantly froze and fell, his entire body folding inward. Lucius smoothly turned, stepping on the officer's throat with his boot, pressing him into the metal floor, a smile on his face.
“You, are not.”
Then he suddenly accelerated, like a flash of light passing through the crowd. Half a second later, screams and blood illuminated the smooth metal walls, countless heads and limbs thrown into the air.
When he stopped, the smile was still on his face.
However, his smile soon disappeared, because the flash of teleportation appeared not far away.
In a roar, one of the people he hated the most appeared.
“Lucius, I thought you died in the torpedo.”
Eidolon supported himself with his weapon, leaning his body forward, his face with an expression like a twisted mask of joy. The warhammer in his hand was named Eternal Glory, once a beautiful weapon, but now as ugly as its master. Eidolon's once gorgeous hair now had only a few sparse strands attached to his shriveled scalp, his face like melted wax, including his armor, which seemed to be a mass of pink, writhing flesh. When he spoke, strange organs and growths could be seen rolling in his throat, constantly craving to unleash violence.
Behind him appeared a group of Terminators and Noise Marines, all Eidolon's personal guards, carrying the same arrogance and distortion as their master.
Seeing Lucius walking away without paying attention, Eidolon laughed nervously.
“It seems we are both lucky.”
Then Eidolon raised his head, gazing at the slowly rotating planet outside the dome.
“What a beautiful world, Sosianthes has managed his lair very well. Then when he looks at its ruins, that kind of pain must be a brew that can intoxicate even the gods.”
With that, the Chief Lord Commander raised his warhammer.
“Forward, warriors and artists! Let us begin a feast!”
Accompanied by the Chief Lord Commander's heroic and insane words, the chanting of the Slaaneshi sorcerers also reached its climax. A small rift appeared, then the ground began to shake, and a behemoth strode out of it.
“Woah, boss, you're really going through with it?”
In the node's central control room, Klane muttered while putting a slightly ill-fitting suit of artificer power armor on Rozhim, while the place was already empty, the technicians having retreated to the shelter, only Lokan maintaining the operation of the equipment, Dogo placing various weapons one by one behind cover and servitors, and Kawakubo was nowhere to be seen.
The entire hall was very grand, with a height of over fifty meters, and divided into three floors, with a pyramid-shaped structure in the middle, surrounded by circles of servitors, Lokan busy in the core operating area at the highest point.
“What else? Coming here for a vacation!”
“But boss, is it okay for you to steal armor from the armory to wear? Besides, you're not a tin man.”
Rozhim reached out and smacked the other's head, spitting.
“I'm half one, okay? It's just power armor... ouch, ouch! Loosen it a bit, I don't have neural interfaces, you almost broke my knees.”
“Uh, the key is, can we hold on?”
“We have to hold on even if we can't, those S\u0026M players can't rely on those new recruits below, and the combat robots of the Avesta are all on the ship, they can't support us in a short time. If they control this place, the orbital guns might be bombarding the monastery fortress. Now only we can stop these bastards, but I guess none of those people have ever seen the Chapter Master, I'll pretend, maybe I can scare the other side with the Chapter Master's prestige! Right, you go prepare your things too.”
“Oh, oh, oh! Right, boss, this weapon was made by me temporarily, it might not be durable, be careful.”
Just as Rozhim was struggling to buckle the helmet onto his head, a series of impacts suddenly came from the tightly closed door.
After several increasingly intense impacts, Eidolon's impatient voice rang out.
“Trouble our knight to open this door.”
In the low mocking voice, the solid door suddenly dented, followed by a blinding purple flash, and the door finally gave way, blown open a huge gap.
Before Eidolon strode into the central hall, he vaguely heard a rude voice.
“Hurry, hurry! Damn, people are here and still dawdling, hurry up and fire! Or we'll be exposed!”
