The Emperor’s Angel of Death
#3023 - The trick of deceiving the enemy
The next second, a golden beam of light suddenly illuminated the originally dim hall. A tall figure stood beneath the light, clad in a silver, meticulously crafted power armor that was gilded by the golden light. He held a weapon that resembled a halberd but wasn't quite, wore a scarlet cloak, and faced away from the entrance.
"My legion, glorious galaxy! Vermin, your actions have aroused my wrath, I am Soshjan! You cannot withstand my fury! Retreat if you wish to live!"
"Hmm?"
Eidolon stopped, a look of suspicion on his face. This person's physique didn't quite match the Soshjan described by Lucius…
He turned to ask Lucius, but found him gone, nowhere to be seen.
With a cold snort, "Soshjan" turned his head slightly, his dark lenses seeming to cast a cold glance, his aura imposing!
Then, he suddenly turned around, gracefully swirled his cloak, tossed the war halberd high into the air where it spun twice, and then firmly grasped it, pointing it at Eidolon.
"Who wants to die first! Come forward! I will surely send him on his way with 'Skyfire'!"
Eidolon frowned, even taking a half-step back, muttering to himself:
"Didn't they say he wasn't here?"
He also noticed that in the shadows of the central hall, he could vaguely see towering figures, as if an army of thousands was waiting silently. Crucially, even he couldn't see clearly in this dimness, as if it were covered by a veil.
Seeing that the enemy seemed genuinely shaken, Rochim quickly said in a low voice in his helmet:
"Music! Quick, quick, quick, it seems to have scared him!"
But the next moment, what he heard wasn't the stirring 'Emperor's Battle Hymn', but…
"…Fake cigarettes, fake wine, fake friends, fake friends oh~ fake feelings, fake intentions, you fake gentleness~ tricked me into your house, in the middle of the night~ you chased me away~"
"Damn it, Dogo, what did you download on my data-slate again!"
"Joke!"
With a cold laugh, a figure rushed forward, a long blade slashing. The person in the golden light hurriedly blocked, but the heavy armor made him appear somewhat clumsy.
With a clang, the weapon resembling 'Skyfire' was broken, and then the long blade swept across, intending to behead the person.
"Hmm?"
A series of bullets came flying, angled very precisely. Lucius could only dodge, while the person in the armor sat down with a thud, crawling backward with hands and feet.
"Damn, what are these things, so fast!"
Only then did Eidolon finally realize that he had been tricked!
This feeling of being fooled instantly transformed his initial pleasure into rage.
"Leave him to me! I will cut him into pieces, a thousand cuts, ten thousand slices!"
As he spoke, the towering alloy gate was completely torn open. A huge crab claw extended, followed by two metal legs like beast hooves.
As the terrifying shadow enveloped the astonished Rochim, a bizarre laughter echoed in the central hall.
It was a Knight Titan, but it had been completely twisted by Chaos. Its once glorious shell had become a canvas covered in flesh and mad graffiti. Many still-wriggling bodies and heads struggled on it, and its head had become a sharp shape similar to a Slaaneshi Beast. One arm had become a writhing flesh whip, and another arm was an extravagant Doom Siren autocannon, but it had also grown two extra limbs like demonic entities, ending in sharp crab claws. The banners made of human skin were painted with symbols of worship to the Dark Prince in blood.
Judging from its size, it might have once been a Questoris Knight, but now it had been reduced to the most shameful of Knights, a Dreadblade.
Dreadblades are what the Inquisition uses to refer to Chaos Knights who do not swear fealty to any particular entity. Like Freeblade Knights, Dreadblade Knights walk alone throughout the galaxy, pursuing their own various unspeakable desires or pursuits. Their anti-heroic characteristics correspond to Freeblades, and fate always arranges for them to meet and fight each other in various places.
The reasons why a Knight becomes a Dreadblade are as varied as the currents of Chaos. Some are led down this cursed path by illusions and trickery, others find their mental state gradually deteriorating and become wandering warriors, eventually captured by the powers of the Warp, and still others choose to fall willingly as the only means of revenge against their families. Whatever the reason behind it, a Knight who abandons the Imperium and his family is forever an outcast, but this only makes them more deadly. Freed from the bonds of loyalty and obedience, nothing can stop a Dreadblade from pursuing his nightmarish desires, traveling from one war zone to another to satisfy his thirst for slaughter, or hunting down and destroying all those in the galaxy who offend his twisted dignity.
And this Dreadblade had been recorded many times in the Imperium. Its past was impossible to examine. Rumors say it came from a destroyed family, and even served as a Freeblade for a while, but certain changes eventually turned it into a servant of destructive power, and then threw itself into the embrace of Slaanesh, taking the name 'Agony Knight', wallowing in the realm of Slaanesh, alienating, and even becoming a semi-daemon. This also made its power more terrifying. This Knight is often hired by Slaaneshi warbands, and what it asks for is often some unique reward. It is said that it seems to be preparing a unique ritual to allow it, or rather the pilot who has completely merged with the mech, to ascend to become a Daemon Prince.
And beneath it, hundreds of elites from the Third Legion also poured in, preparing to take the people here as targets.
"Fuck him!"
Amidst Rochim's curses, all the lights in the central hall turned on.
"Hmm!?"
Eidolon's expression tightened. The magnificent central hall was filled with semicircular turrets, with a distinct Forge World style, and many defensive turrets extended from the walls.
"Careful! Scatter!"
Before he could finish speaking, a dense barrage came head-on. Dogo personally operated a MATR autocannon, roaring and sweeping.
"Take the goods I've saved for years!!!!!!"
Most of these turrets were his creations in his spare time, in order to earn extra money. Taking advantage of this defensive battle, the Astral Knight Chapter bought all his stock at once, making Dogo a fortune, which made him so excited.
As Forge World weapons, their power was naturally great. Various bolters, railguns, and energy lasers were scattered towards the personnel of the Third Legion as if they were free. Many people tried to dodge, but there were always a few unlucky ones.
"Ugh ah!"
A Noise Marine was hit in the waist by a railgun, instantly splitting the person in two, and before the upper body even landed, it was smashed into pieces by dense bolters.
At the same time, the original defensive weapons on the walls also joined the chorus. The dense firepower even forced Lucius to dodge left and right, while those relatively bulky Terminators were even more unable to move, and there were even casualties.
"Agony Knight! Destroy them!"
Hearing the instructions from Eidolon, who was hiding behind cover, the Slaaneshi Knight let out a shrill laugh, and then strode forward, its posture elegant and blasphemous. At the same time, a strong, sweet incense filled the air. Ordinary mortals only need to inhale a mouthful to be like taking the most addictive drug, deeply trapped in it and unable to extricate themselves. Therefore, Slaaneshi Knights are always surrounded by a large number of zombie-like slaves and followers.
Realizing that the most threatening target had appeared, many autocannons aimed at it, but blessed by Slaanesh, the Slaaneshi Knight was surrounded by a wall of energy emitting a dazzling purple light. This aura, called 'Slaanesh's Glamour', made it more difficult for opponents to aim at Slaaneshi mechs, and could reduce the damage of enemy weapons like a void shield or energy field.
Immediately afterwards, it raised the weapon in its hand. The muzzle of the Doom Siren autocannon emitted a sharp sound like a banshee's scream. This evil weapon, similar to the main weapon of a Hellbrute, then bloomed with a flickering light of death, scattering deadly ammunition towards Dogo.
However, those bullets in mid-air encountered an amber barrier and all perished.
