The Emperor’s Angel of Death
#3359 - Burning Black Lagoon
The level of cooperation displayed by Razorwings, comparable to that of soldiers, is beyond the capabilities of ordinary beasts. As a dragon tamer, Ivan was well aware that they even possessed a simple language communication mechanism and could recognize commands issued in the Aida language.
A group of well-trained Razorwings could suppress their hunger, circling above their master while carrying bloody skeletal trophies as a display, only tearing them apart in a wild feast after receiving instructions from their master.
In other words, these Razorwings with psychic powers would only be more terrifying!
"Sounds pretty impressive. A bit like the divine beast Phoenix from ancient mythology?"
"Ha, they certainly can't be compared to the Phoenix. After all, according to the few remaining records, those darlings of the Father Gods possessed stellar-level energy, capable of bringing light to an entire galaxy. But we are working towards that. The Emberwings are the first step."
"Do they have a leader?"
"There is one."
Quipa pointed to the far right, to an Emberwing with a tuft of black feathers on its head. It seemed to notice the gesture and immediately changed from its previous lazy posture to one of standing tall and proud, like a soldier undergoing inspection.
Ivan nodded.
"I can take them, but will they accept my commands?"
"Of course."
Quipa made a gesture, and the five giant Emberwings gracefully descended from above. The Druid then conjured four crystal head罩s and placed them on their heads. The Emberwings very docilely accepted these items. Then, he took out a delicate spirit bone ring with a Druidic symbol from his pocket and handed it to Ivan.
"Wear it, and they will completely obey your commands."
As soon as Ivan put on the ring, he immediately heard a series of crisp chirps in his ear. His mastery of psychic energy allowed him to quickly understand the trick, so he smiled slightly and said to the Druid:
"I'm looking forward to their performance."
As he walked out of the cave, the five Emberwings lined up in a row, following closely behind him with a hopping gait, attracting many curious glances.
Ivan didn't explain to his curious subordinates and immediately ordered the departure. Soon, the Wyvern squadron took off like birds leaving their nest. Ivan had the five Emberwings use their speed and altitude advantage to provide aerial surveillance.
Although it looked like gliding, the wild Wyverns, improved by the Druids of the Liral Surs Kingdom, had a very fast flying speed. Although they couldn't compare to fighter jets, they had already exceeded the limit of "wings." With the propulsion of the jet stream saddles on their backs, their speed could even rival that of the Greenskin's fighters. In fact, Ivan had personally shot down three Greenskin fighters.
Soon, the dragon group arrived at the vast sea. Ryan's ocean was very calm, and it was one of the few areas that had not been affected by the war. Since the battles mainly took place on the Soroco continent, it was rare to encounter Greenskin or human fighters at sea.
The journey was relatively monotonous, so the young dragon knights would play some games along the way, such as controlling the wild Wyverns to catch large fish or seabirds that approached the surface of the sea.
After flying for nearly 2 hours, land appeared on the horizon. During their first month on Ryan, they had already drawn the most accurate map of the planet, so Ivan chose a route that pointed directly to Black Reef City, the closest port city on the Caliona continent to New Ryan City.
But when Ivan took out his telescope and looked at the city on the horizon, he saw fire and explosions.
He remembered that the last time he passed by this city, it was relatively safe, only occasionally attacked by small groups of Greenskins, because there were not many Greenskins landing on the Caliona continent itself. Plus, due to their "love to join in the fun" characteristic, they all spontaneously flocked to the battlefield near New Ryan City, so the Caliona continent was still considered a pure land. But this time, it looked like the scale of the attack was not small.
"Could the situation have changed?"
After pondering for a while, Ivan made a judgment, ordering the dragon group to stop on a deserted island about two hundred kilometers away from Black Reef City, and then had the warriors carrying reconnaissance equipment unload it.
Those were three Flotation Sentinels (Chapter 3209). After Ivan established a mental connection with them, they transformed from crystal form to completely transparent and rose into the air, flying towards Black Reef City at an extremely fast speed. Everything they saw was also projected into Ivan's consciousness and the temporary erected crystal panel.
As the distance rapidly closed, a disastrous scene appeared in Ivan's eyes.
Several huge breaches had appeared in the city's first protective wall, and large areas of the urban area behind the wall were burning. Greenskins howling and firing guns and their domesticated round monsters could be seen everywhere on the streets, as well as all kinds of tragic human corpses. Fires were still erupting from some houses, indicating that some defenders were still holding out. There were makeshift street barricades on the streets, but most of them had been destroyed. A small number of human soldiers were still defending, but they only had simple firearms and lacked protective gear, and they were being suppressed by the Greenskin's fierce attacks, unable to even lift their heads.
Even more terrifying, there were many roaring rotary engines in the sky. They looked so crude that it was hard to believe how they could fly. The fuselage looked like it was modified from motorcycles or some other vehicles, and the rotating wings were more like a few razors than wings, with even jet boosters on them. When they rotated, they looked more like some kind of fireworks!?
But these things, because they could fly, still posed a deadly threat to humans. The rockets they fired ignited buildings, and the laughing Greenskin pilots used large-caliber machine guns to strafe the terrified fleeing crowds, creating bloody scenes.
Near the second protective wall, there were many crowded people trying to enter the safe zone, mostly women, children, and the elderly. When the Greenskin's rotorcraft roared and flew over, the crowd could only scream and flee in all directions. Mothers tried to hold onto their children, husbands desperately supported their wives, but many people were still beaten into bloody, blurred, warm wreckage, and all of this seemed to be just amusement for the laughing Greenskin pilots.
Because Black Reef City lacked air defense weapons, the only small number of anti-aircraft guns could not stop the hundreds of rotorcraft from wreaking havoc. Plus, almost all air squadrons had been transferred to the hidden airfields in the Saliba Islands to support the battle in New Ryan City, so no air support could be called in. The defenders could only watch all of this happen in despair.
When the Flotation Sentinels approached the burning urban area, the real culprits appeared.
Those were groups of cylindrical killing cans, using huge industrial鉗s to clamp screaming living people in two, using huge feet to trample the wounded into meat paste, and even smashing children around like toys.
Behind them, an even larger shadow loomed.
