The Little Superman of Hogwarts
#187 - Chapter 187 [First Week of School]
Hagrid, the gentle giant, led all the students to the edge of the Forbidden Forest. Although they were still quite a distance from any real danger, the students couldn't help but feel a sense of unease and tension.
Hagrid instructed the students to wait in an open area, then he ventured into the dense forest and emerged with a group of creatures.
Twelve of the most peculiar and bizarre beings the young wizards had ever seen in their lives strode towards them.
They had the bodies, hind legs, and tails of horses, but their front legs, wings, and heads resembled those of eagles, with steel-colored beaks and bright orange eyes.
The claws on their front legs were half a foot long and looked deadly.
Each beast had a thick collar of feathers around its neck, to which a long chain was attached. The ends of these chains were held in Hagrid's large hand as he slowly led the animals into the enclosure.
Hermione was also seeing these creatures for the first time. She gazed at them with great curiosity, muttering to herself, "Hippogriffs!"
These magical creatures were not naturally occurring; they were created by wizards using magic.
They had been created so long ago that the true inventor was lost to history, but according to ancient Egyptian legends, the creators of these magical creatures were likely the pharaohs of ancient Egypt.
The first record of these creatures was made by a 15th-century poet. Previously, these magical creatures only lived in remote corners of Africa, but later, an Italian wizard introduced them to Europe.
Over the centuries, these magical creatures gradually multiplied and spread throughout Europe.
These animals could walk on the ground and fly in the air, making them ideal mounts for wizards. As a result, they were widely kept, but owning a Hippogriff was very expensive, and only wealthy pure-blood families could afford them.
Soon, the first lesson began. Just like in the original story, Hagrid's lesson involved training with Hippogriffs.
To be honest, the name was incredibly awkward to pronounce, so Keli generally referred to them as 'eagle pegasus'.
Because it was the first lesson, Hagrid seemed a little excited. He first introduced information about the Hippogriffs, and then told everyone that the lead one was called Buckbeak.
The Forbidden Forest was truly a wonderful place; it had everything. It was hard to say whether the previous headmasters had a particular fondness for these animals, or if they simply appreciated the vastness of the Forbidden Forest.
Hagrid rambled on about a great deal of information regarding Hippogriffs, and when he finally wrapped up, Hagrid asked, "You always wait for the Hippogriff to make the first move.
It's polite, see?
You walk towards it, you bow, and then you wait. If it bows back, you can touch it. If it doesn't bow, get away from it quickly, because those claws can hurt. Alright—who wants to go first?"
After Hagrid finished speaking, no one dared to step forward in front of the enormous animals.
Keli volunteered and raised his hand.
"Mr. Feynman!" Hagrid was very pleased, and he waved for Keli to walk in front of the animal.
"You can try to stroke them! But before that, you need to bow to them first. Only when they respond can you communicate with them," Hagrid said as he stroked the Hippogriff's head.
Keli nodded to show that he understood, but he did not follow Hagrid's actions.
Keli took off his wizard robes, revealing his lean upper body. The well-defined muscles of his upper body were on display for everyone to see, not overly bulky, but giving off a sense of power.
Keli's act of taking off his robe caused a stir among the girls. Keli was now 1.88 meters tall, and with his muscular physique, he looked incredibly strong. How could a group of girls who were only fourteen or fifteen years old resist such temptation? They all stared at Keli with wide eyes.
"Merlin's beard! What are you doing?" Hagrid was puzzled. He couldn't understand why Keli would suddenly take off his clothes.
Keli didn't say anything. Instead, he stirred up all the magical elements within his body, unleashing nearly 130,000 cards worth of energy, surging through his body. The overflowing magic was so intense that Hagrid and the Hippogriffs beside him felt a sense of shock.
All twelve Hippogriffs sensed the threat, and their limbs began to fidget. At that moment, Keli suddenly withdrew all the magic from his body, looking just like an ordinary young man.
In that instant, the magical creatures seemed to sense how powerful this person in front of them was. As Keli withdrew his power, they calmed down.
"Little darlings, now I want to ride you. I don't think you'll have any objections!" Keli asked, then touched the feathers of the Hippogriff Buckbeak.
"Screech…" The Hippogriff seemed to want to resist, but Keli glanced into its eyes, and it fell silent.
After that, it behaved very docile, standing respectfully in place, waiting for Keli to climb onto its back.
Keli leaped from the ground, straddling the horse's body, and then Buckbeak gently leaped up, its huge wings instantly unfurling! Then the Hippogriff soared into the sky, and Keli gently hugged the hippogriff's neck.
"Fly over the castle! I want to overlook the entire castle!"
Buckbeak was very obedient. He carried Keli towards the castle, reaching the sky above the castle in just a few dozen seconds, then circled the castle several times before Keli waved to signal him to return to the ground.
When the massive Hippogriff landed on the ground, the dust kicked up covered all the young wizards, making them look disheveled.
Hagrid was also very surprised. He hadn't expected Buckbeak to be so obedient. Being able to ride a Hippogriff into the sky was also Hagrid's dream, but because Hagrid was too tall, no magical creature could carry him. Therefore, Hagrid had to rely on his own abilities or magical abilities to fly each time.
"That was fantastic!" Hagrid seemed very excited to see Keli land safely. After Keli returned to the group, Hagrid asked again, "Anyone else want to try? Buckbeak is very gentle!"
But looking at the terrifying beast, the young wizards were still a little timid.
At that moment, a familiar face from Slytherin walked over. Malfoy touched his golden hair and said in a contemptuous tone, "Let me have a go with this strange creature!"
Keli was already very tall, and he was now almost looking down at Malfoy, who was a head shorter than him.
Keli also said in a contemptuous tone, "I wonder whose little kid got so scared by a Dementor on the train that they fainted, and I wonder if they wet their pants."
As Cree uttered the last word, the crowd erupted in laughter.
Ron, in particular, was doubled over with laughter. Malfoy had often mocked him for his family's poverty, but he never imagined that Malfoy would become the subject of ridicule himself. He felt extremely relieved.
Malfoy, put on the spot by Cree, didn't know whether to advance or retreat. Just then, a dark cloud suddenly drifted over, causing many leaves to fall from the trees.
Taking advantage of the opportunity, Malfoy retreated to the back of the crowd, his once pale face now an unusual shade of flushed red.
Malfoy was inwardly furious. How had the events of last night spread so quickly? Before disembarking the train, Malfoy had fainted into the arms of a Dementor.
Just as Malfoy decided to retreat, Ron surprisingly raised his hand.
In the original story, Harry Potter was the first to volunteer. Because he was the first, he gradually became familiar with Buckbeak, and near the end of the term, he used the Time-Turner to save the creature's life.
But now, Ron was accomplishing what Harry should have done, following Hagrid's instructions step by step.
A few minutes later, Buckbeak spread his enormous wings, carrying Ron into the sky. As they left the ground, a tremendous roar echoed, and then they disappeared.
Inspired by Cree and Ron's demonstration, the other young wizards were overjoyed and followed Hagrid's instructions.
And so, the lesson passed, and Malfoy didn't budge an inch. He glared at Cree, who returned a contemptuous look.
Hagrid was the only truly happy person in the class, perhaps befitting of a teacher.
Time flew by, and when Thursday arrived, a familiar and unpleasant class appeared on the schedule.
"Potions!" Cree said softly. After sending the two children to Hogwarts, the old bat seemed much happier, not even needing any flavoring. Therefore, according to the older students, this year's Potions lessons might be easier than in previous years.
Thinking of this, Cree couldn't help but wonder if Malfoy and Snape would collude again this year, as they had been quite close in the past.
Snape stood at the podium, quietly observing the young wizards below, and then said calmly, "In this lesson, we will be learning about the Shrinking Solution..."
Frankly, this manner of speaking surprised the students. In their minds, Snape had never spoken in such a gentle tone.
The animosity in Snape's heart had completely dissipated. It was as if a martial arts master had finally broken free from a curse and was no longer in danger of succumbing to dark magic.
After the theory lesson, Snape had the students begin practical application. Some were flustered, while others were steady and composed. Snape patrolled the classroom, and some students were so nervous that their fingers trembled. Some even made many basic mistakes, but Snape didn't scold them harshly as he usually did. Instead, he corrected their errors with a calm voice.
Finally, he arrived at Cree's side. For today's practical lesson, Cree and Hermione were still working together.
Cree's handling of the ingredients was practically divine, and Hermione's practical skills were also excellent. The two coordinated seamlessly.
"Excellent work!" Snape praised. "Last year, when you were leading the class, I heard Professor McGonagall say that you seemed to possess some kind of superpower, that you could categorize all the students' abilities into different levels and guide them to make small adjustments on the spot to improve their success rate and the purity of their potions. Is this true? Can you demonstrate it for me?"
Cree looked at Snape, nodded, and said, "Please allow me to stand on the podium."
Cree then stood on the podium, observing all the students' actions, the various sounds of their different manipulations constantly ringing in his ears.
Cree immediately directed, "Neville, if you don't want your potion to explode again, you shouldn't prepare the stone in the next step. You should prepare a diluent! Like clear water, alcohol, or something similar!"
"Nate Allinge! You should..." Cree stood on the podium, observing all the students' actions and mentally simulating their operations in 3D, trying to find the flaws in their techniques.
The young wizards below were also very obedient, following Cree's instructions to correct their actions.
And so, Cree stood on the stage for a full twenty minutes, and the students below gradually completed their potions.
The results were shocking. Everyone succeeded—at least, there were no explosions.
Snape stood to the side, watching Cree's performance-like operation—he was deeply shocked. Although he had heard Professor McGonagall say it many times, he still couldn't accept it when he saw it with his own eyes.
Snape believed that his achievements in Potions far surpassed Cree's and anyone else's of this era, but he never imagined that Cree's casual guidance could overwhelm Snape to the point of near collapse.
When Snape began to test the purity of all the potions, he was shocked by the results. Everyone in the class, including Malfoy and Harry, who hated studying, had a purity level of over 50%! All passed!
Seeing these test results, Snape was speechless with shock.
"I've taught for over a decade, and I've never felt this kind of effect before. I suppose this must be a sign that I'm getting old!" Snape sighed.
Cree shrugged, indicating that it wasn't the case.
And so, the new year's classes quickly moved on to Defense Against the Dark Arts.
"Good afternoon!" Werewolf Lupin said calmly. "Please put your books back into your bags. Today is a practical lesson; you only need your wands."
The whole class put their books back into their bags, and a few students exchanged surprised glances. They had never had a practical Defense Against the Dark Arts lesson before, unless you counted that memorable lesson from last year, in which the previous teacher brought in a cage of Cornish Pixies and released them.
"Very well," said the professor, seeing that everyone was ready. "Will you follow me, please?"
The class was puzzled, but intrigued, and got to their feet, following Professor Lupin out of the classroom.
