The Second Empire of Azeroth
#156 - Valkyrie
“Who are you?” Arthas questioned.
“I am a Val'kyr!” the woman said, “I was once a Vrykul, but now I remain in this world as a soul. We have many sisters, who all serve different masters, while we are responsible for guiding souls, wandering among all the graveyards in the world. I am in charge of Yrykul, the Vrykul graveyard. Although no Vrykul has died there in tens of thousands of years, I still恪守职责 and often go there to take a look.”
“Early this morning, I arrived at Yrykul once again. As soon as I got there, I noticed something was wrong. There were many Vrykul dragon knights guarding the entrance. After I sneaked in, I found a large number of Vrykul undead inside. They were moving the Vrykul corpses inside, piling them up together. Ymiron was holding a sword filled with powerful magic, resurrecting these Vrykul corpses into undead. According to my observation, they still retain their powerful strength from when they were alive.”
“Perhaps you don’t know, those Vrykul are the real Vrykul who died in battle tens of thousands of years ago, not the Vrykul you see now. Their bodies are made of steel, possessing great defense and strength, and they also master powerful arcane magic, capable of using the power of the elements…”
“Please wait a moment!” Turalyon interrupted her, “Are you exaggerating a bit?”
“Not at all!” The Val'kyr said solemnly, “The Vrykul you see have actually been affected by the Curse of Flesh. They are much weaker than they were ten thousand years ago. I am not lying to you. In fact, you humans are weakened Vrykul who have been continuously affected by the Curse of Flesh.”
“What?” The crowd immediately erupted in an uproar.
They were actually weakened versions of those brainless Vrykul?
Kurdran and Muradin exchanged glances, somewhat believing it.
“Humans and Vrykul look very similar, perhaps it is really possible that they are weakened Vrykul. You should know that we are actually weakened Earthen.”
“Impossible!”
“How could our ancestors be those brainless Vrykul!”
The crowd seemed to feel insulted.
However, they quickly discovered that Roger did not react strongly, but instead watched them with leisure.
“Marshal!”
Roger waved his hand gently, “Don't be so excited, humans are indeed descended from weakened Vrykul.”
“What?” The crowd exclaimed.
Roger said lightly, “What's wrong with that? Dwarves are descended from weakened Earthen, Gnomes are descended from weakened Mechagnomes, and humans are descended from weakened Vrykul. No matter what we are, even the Orcs are the same. They are descended from weakened Ogres, Ogres are descended from weakened Cyclops, Cyclops are descended from weakened Gronn, and Gronn are descended from weakened Giants. The Orcs have undergone so many weakenings, and what have they said?”
The crowd was speechless.
“Moreover, weakening is not necessarily a bad thing. Our bodies have weakened, but our intelligence has increased. In my opinion, this is actually a kind of evolution.”
Hearing Roger's summary, the crowd felt much better.
“So!” Roger looked at the Val'kyr, “You can continue!”
The Val'kyr looked at Roger in surprise. She originally thought that the Alliance's Northrend Expeditionary Force was a mess. She didn't expect that this person would actually have such high prestige.
She continued to describe the power of the Vrykul, so that these Northrend Expeditionary Force members would be prepared.
After she stopped, Roger said, “Everyone, you should have already heard, this Val'kyr has explained it in great detail.”
He stood up, looking at the crowd, “So, we have no time to discuss.”
“I order!”
Everyone stood up with a “swish”, listening carefully to Roger's words.
“Gargen Firehammer, lead the tank army to Yrykul by land. Kurdran, you lead the gryphon knights to scout for the tank army. Aurélia, you lead the escort fleet along the river to protect them.”
“Yes!” The three nodded immediately and set off quickly.
“Turalyon, you lead an army to Winterhoof Camp and join forces with the yaungol there to attack the rear of Yrykul.”
“Understood!” Turalyon also stood up, and at the same time looked at the Val'kyr, “Madam, you should be able to find other entrances to Yrykul, right?”
The Val'kyr nodded, “If you need me to, I can lead the way.”
“Thank you!” Turalyon invited the Val'kyr to join his army as a guide.
After walking out of the conference room, Turalyon quickly gathered the Sons of Lothar. Then he found Aurélia, who was mobilizing the fleet, “How about giving us a ride?”
“Get on board!” Aurélia said, while curiously glancing at the Val'kyr.
The Val'kyr nodded to Aurélia and flew into the sky. Her revealing clothes made many soldiers couldn't help but peek, but unfortunately, those clothes, although revealing, seemed to have magic, protecting all the private parts.
Under the Val'kyr's lead, Turalyon's army arrived at the entrance of a cave.
“Go in from here, and after walking for a while, you will reach Yrykul.”
Turalyon nodded, and was about to move when he felt a sense of crisis. He suddenly turned his head and cast Holy Light towards the sky. Under the Holy Light, a Val'kyr hidden in the air was exposed. They suddenly rushed over and launched an attack on Turalyon.
“This is a conspiracy!” a soldier shouted.
The Val'kyr quickly said, “They belong to the Lich King, be careful of their mind control.”
Turalyon shouted loudly, the Holy Light all over his body surged, directly blasting away the Val'kyr who was approaching, and then suddenly spread a pair of Holy Light wings, knocking a Val'kyr to the ground and imprisoning her with Holy Light. The paladins of the Sons of Lothar successively cast Banish Undead, controlling the other Val'kyr.
“I need an explanation!”
The Val'kyr looked at the Val'kyr being controlled and breathed a sigh of relief. She said, “They were originally responsible for other graveyards in Northrend, but after the Lich King arrived, he mind-controlled them and drove them to serve him. If you can't imprison them, it's best to kill them!”
Turalyon carefully observed the trapped Val'kyr, and found that these Val'kyr's bodies were darker. However, Turalyon didn't know much about mind control, but he didn't have the habit of killing prisoners.
“Establish a Holy Light prison and temporarily imprison them here.”
