The Second Empire of Azeroth
#27 - Stormwind City
A blood demon?
Talon Gore paused for a moment, finding the title quite fitting for his current identity.
But in the next second, he looked at Roger and said in a hoarse voice, "Don't waste your little tricks, you can't save them."
The slowly moving refugees were immediately shocked and turned to run.
However, Talon Gore had already raised his staff, unleashing a barrage of violent shadow projectiles at Roger and the fleeing refugees.
Countless shadow arrows engulfed Roger, and their force did not diminish as they slammed into the refugees.
"Ah--"
Numerous screams rang out as the refugees were eroded by shadow and fel energy, instantly falling to the ground, dead.
Talon Gore stopped casting, very satisfied with his masterpiece.
Before being killed by Orgrim, he was just a warlock with mediocre strength, not even ranking in the Shadow Council.
If he hadn't brown-nosed Gul'dan, he would have only suffered the bullying of the warlocks.
Even so, after Gul'dan fell into a coma, he was ostracized by jealous warlocks, which led to him being pushed out to resist Orgrim when Orgrim attacked the Shadow Council.
After becoming a death knight, although his soul was imprisoned in a human body, his strength greatly increased.
Gul'dan, out of consideration for the past, gave him a powerful body, runes, and magical weapons.
With these, he became the leader of the death knights.
Looking at the corpses all over the ground, Talon Gore felt very comfortable.
Although it was a little flawed that Roger wasn't dead, it didn't affect his good mood.
He sneered at Roger, who was kneeling on the ground, "Heh heh--now, you should understand the gap between us, right?"
Roger felt a little frustrated.
He felt useless.
Although he used a shield infused with Holy Light to save his life, he failed to save the refugees behind him.
Of course, more than that, it was hatred.
The orcs killed his parents just like this death knight slaughtered refugees, and the fire of hatred seemed to burn him to ashes.
He looked up at the death knight, "Tell me your name, I will definitely kill you!"
Talon Gore didn't care about Roger's threat at all.
He raised his staff and aimed it at Roger, "My name is Talon--Bloodfiend, that's right, it's Talon Bloodfiend.
When you go to see the god of death, remember to tell him this name."
With that, Talon Bloodfiend cast magic again, engulfing Roger.
When the magical light dissipated, Talon Bloodfiend was stunned.
He didn't see Roger's body.
Roger appeared next to a distant tree, holding onto the tree trunk and looking at him with hatred, "Talon Bloodfiend, I will avenge you!"
Talon Bloodfiend watched Roger disappear again, thoughtfully.
"Is that Windwalk?"
After escaping, Roger found a safe place and used the holy water he brought to clean the corroded wounds on his body.
The erosion of shadow and fel energy made him feel weak all over.
But he still braced himself to find his comrades.
Finally, after rushing to the scheduled meeting place, Roger couldn't hold on and fainted.
In the moment of fainting, he seemed to hear John's call.
When Roger woke up again, he found himself in a dark cave.
He suddenly got up, but before he could get up, he fell down again in pain.
"Roger! You're awake?"
John walked over in surprise.
He felt a little weak, but his condition was okay.
The erosion of fel energy had disappeared, and John should have used holy water to clean his wounds.
However, the sequelae of the fel energy erosion were still there, and he needed some time to recover his strength.
"Almost ten days!"
John told him bad news, "Yesterday afternoon, the orcs broke through Stormwind City."
"What?"
Roger was stunned.
Stormwind City didn't even hold out for ten days.
"The orcs felled a large number of trees in a few days and built many catapults.
Under the cover of the catapults, the orc spellcasters suddenly released evil magic on the gate of Stormwind City, corroding the gate of Stormwind City.
Fortunately, the fleet heading north returned, and Sir Lothar was able to lead everyone in the city to escape Stormwind City."
"But, even if the orcs broke through the gate, Stormwind City could still be defended!"
Roger asked in confusion.
When he designed the defense system, he had already considered the warlock's spells.
Even if the orcs broke through the gate, the defenders could completely trigger the mechanism and block the passage into the city with boulders.
John's eyes were a little evasive.
"What are you hiding?"
John was silent for a moment.
"When the orcs attacked the city, we were observing on the top of the mountain.
When the orcs broke through the gate, the soldiers guarding the front line collapsed and did not trigger the boulder mechanism."
John looked into Roger's eyes and said, "Those deserters were all private soldiers of the nobles."
"Damn it!"
Roger punched the stone wall, and the edges of the stone wall cut his hand, and blood kept dripping on the stone, dyeing the stone red.
John quickly took out the healing potion and applied it to his hand, "Roger, I know you feel bad.
But you need to know that the nobles are not reliable."
"It's my fault!"
Roger really regretted it.
He shouldn't have forced those nobles' private soldiers to stay in order to have more troops.
If there were no such bad apples, Stormwind City still had a chance to hold on.
Soon, he adjusted his mentality.
Now that Stormwind City had been breached, there was no point in thinking about these things anymore.
"What about the orc casualties?"
"The casualties are not very big!" John shook his head a little.
Roger gritted his teeth, "It seems we have to kill more!"
John understood what Roger meant, "That's right, but before that, you have to heal your injuries first.
These days I will take everyone to scout the situation of the orcs first.
After you get better, we will hunt the orcs!"
Roger nodded and obediently lay down.
He opened the system to see what he had gained from killing the death knight before.
The Grandmaster Swordsman leveled up and added a skill point to Guillotine, upgrading it to the Skilled level.
The hunter also leveled up and added a skill point to Camouflage, also upgrading it to the Skilled level.
[Achievement unlocked: Face Death Directly, gain 3 achievement points.]
All used to strengthen camouflage.
Concealment: Visual deception increased by 10%, perceptual deception increased by 10%, true sight deception increased by 10%.
Visual, perceptual, and true sight deception all increased, so after he disguised himself, wouldn't he be even more powerful than invisibility?
While thinking, he used the skill.
John put away the bottle of healing potion and turned to leave, "Roger, I'll go first...Roger?"
The place where Roger was lying was empty.
If the blood stains on the wall weren't still there, he would have suspected that Roger wasn't lying there just now.
