Treasure Hunt all over the World

Chapter 1380 The Emperor's Throne

Fontainebleau Palace, François I Gallery.

Benoit left temporarily for something, so Ye Tian once again assumed the responsibility of explaining, explaining this famous corridor to Betty and the others.

"As the name suggests, since it is called the Francois I Promenade, it means that this famous promenade was built during the Renaissance and was built by the then French King Francois I!

As far as art is concerned, this is the most shocking promenade in the Palace of Fontainebleau. Together with the Duchess of Estamp's room and the ballroom built in the same period, it is also known as the Three Renaissance Halls.

The Francois I Promenade was built around 1530. It is 64 meters long, 6 meters wide and 6 meters high. It connects the residence of Francois I and the second floor of the Chapel of the Holy Trinity.

In the lower part of the promenade, there is a circle of two-meter-high golden yellow fine wood carvings as the retaining wall, and the upper part is decorated with lively imitation marble figure reliefs to set off exquisite murals with Renaissance style.

This makes the murals more prominent, with a stronger three-dimensional effect, and the entire corridor looks brilliant and elegant. There are seven murals on the left and right sides of this corridor, mainly Rosso's works!

Rosso is a famous Mannerist painter in the Italian Renaissance. He has made great achievements in oil painting and mural painting. He is also the founder of French Mannerism in the sixteenth century!

The religious mural in front of us, "Sacrifice", was created by the Renaissance art master Rosso. It is an undisputed top-level artwork with extraordinary artistic value.

We can see that the central part of this mural is an old priest and the altar. The priest faces to the right and seems to be talking with three women carrying pots.

On the right side of the picture, an old man with a cane can be seen, and on the left side, there is a man with his back to everyone. In the foreground of the picture, there are many pairs of mothers and children, all sitting on the ground.

The most peculiar thing about this mural is that there is no sacrifice. The usual explanation is that the priest in the painting is actually a priest, who is said to have predicted that François I would inherit the throne.

If this interpretation is correct, combined with the mother and child in the foreground of the picture, the theme of this mural may be to herald the birth of the future King of France, François I,..."

While explaining, Ye Tian has secretly turned on the perspective, looking at the famous Renaissance mural in front of him, to see if there is any secret hidden behind it!

As far as he could see, Ye Tian instantly saw through the mural in front of him, the wall behind, and even the room behind the wall.

A bird's eye view!

On this mural, Ye Tian saw the traces left by the long history, saw Rosso's outstanding artistic talent and painting skills, and even saw the birth process of this mural, etc.

However, in this famous Renaissance fresco, he did not find any hidden secrets, nor did he see any miracles related to François I!

This is just a mural of extraordinary artistic value, just a top-notch work of art of great value, nothing more!

On the wall behind the mural, and in the twenty-square-meter lounge behind the wall, Ye Tian didn't find anything surprising either!

In the room that was once used as Napoleon's attendant's room, although Ye Tian saw two hidden compartments, it was a pity that both of them were empty, and there was not a hair in them!

The line of sight penetrates the wall of the lounge, and what I see next is a French garden with beautiful scenery and green grass, and there are many tourists who are resting on it!

In the blink of an eye, Ye Tian had a panoramic view of all this without gaining anything.

Then he looked away and continued to explain the mural in front of Betty and the others.

Due to limited time, and the main purpose of coming to Fontainebleau Palace today is not to visit these exhibition halls and exquisite Western artworks, even though they are very worth seeing!

The main goal of Ye Tian's trip is the China Pavilion, which is also located in the Palace of Fontainebleau, not far from the François I promenade, and exhibits those antique artworks from the Old Summer Palace!

In view of this, Ye Tian speeded up his explanation, and he was not so detailed in the explanation process, and did not explain in detail in many places!

At the same time, his feet also accelerated.

In less than two minutes, he finished explaining the "Sacrifice", and then led Betty and the others to another mural on the right, which was also created by Rosso, "Ignorance Expelled".

In the following time, they admired the remaining murals, ceiling paintings, and various exquisite decorative arts located on both sides of the Francois I promenade one by one!

Of course, this also includes the capital 'F' letter representing Francois I carved on the walnut ceiling, the iris flower, and the animal symbolizing Francois I, the salamander!

Ye Tian also explained the famous saying of Francois I engraved on the walnut ceiling, "I destroy, I feed" for everyone!

Later, the son of Francois I, Henry II and his queen Catherine Medici, left letters on the walnut ceiling, and a series of jealous jokes caused by it!

All these, Ye Tian took them as interesting and explained them to everyone.

After visiting the Francois I promenade, the group visited the other two Renaissance halls, the Duchess of Estamp's room and the ballroom.

In those two exhibition halls, they not only saw Rosso's murals again, but also saw his oil paintings!

In addition, they also saw the masterpieces left by the famous Italian painter and sculptor in the Renaissance, Primaticcio, in the Palace of Fontainebleau, a series of vivid, detailed, decorative and exquisite murals!

In addition to these two Renaissance masters, famous French painters, sculptors, and several other founders of the Fontainebleau School, Gushang, Caron and Gouron, also left their works here!

After visiting the third hall of the Renaissance, Ye Tian and the others went into the emperor's bedroom to visit the places where the French emperors, as well as Napoleon and Josephine lived in Fontainebleau Palace.

When they walked into Napoleon's room, everyone saw Napoleon's throne at a glance. It was golden and very eye-catching!

It was an unprecedented circular throne designed by the Louvre designer, drawing on the patterns of the Roman Empire and the Carolingian Dynasty!

Napoleon ordered three thrones of the same style, and the one placed in the Palace of Fontainebleau is the last one he customized!

In the center of the round back of this throne is Napoleon's initials 'N', surrounded by gilded copper ring laurel, and the same pattern is carved on the base with the pilasters!

There are two pure white ivory balls on the top of the pilasters, engraved with rhombus patterns, the seat cushion is made of dark blue velvet and check cloth, and the edge of the seat cushion is attached with a tassel pendant.

Above the throne is a large velvet curtain, and above the curtain is a huge gold-plated copper crown. Two golden scepters stand on both sides of the throne. The top of the scepter is in the shape of Napoleon's favorite eagle!

Compared with the simple and solemn Qing Dynasty emperor's throne on the Hall of Supreme Harmony in the Forbidden City, the Napoleon's throne exudes the delicacy of western art, and it is also much smaller!

During the visit, Ye Tian tentatively proposed to sit on the throne of Napoleon and experience the taste of being the emperor of France, but was rejected by the French with rolling eyes!

This has to be said to be a small regret, the French guy is too confused!

Of course, during this period, Ye Tian did not forget to thoroughly see through Napoleon's room to see if he could discover any secrets that were not known to the public, maybe there would be surprising discoveries!

It's a pity that although he found the hidden darkroom and the dark compartments inside the desk and bookshelf, it was empty and there was not a single hair!

He even found a secret passage under the study, but the modern lighting equipment and clean ground in that secret passage are enough to explain everything!

Obviously, the Frenchman cleaned up the Palace of Fontainebleau very thoroughly, basically leaving no chance for the treasure hunters and Ye Tian!

After visiting Napoleon's room, Ye Tian and the others walked into Josephine's bedroom, and then Napoleon's bedroom, and continued to visit!
